So hey, remember Risa? She’s now damseled. She’s getting questioning as dumb as Lev’s:

UnWholly Ch28 Cam
New Procedure Allows Kidney Transplants From Any Donor
Welp, that’s it. It’s the end times. Soon we’ll ban abortion, build massive state warehouses for abandoned infants, and have Christian childmurder cults. Even worse, we’ll have the dumbest anarchist group ever and some asshole sue walking around nice-socksing people.
That’s how bad these books are, they even ruin great scientific progress by association.
UnWholly Ch30 – 35, Nelson, Miracolina, Lev, Miracolina, Lev, Nelson
We’re back to our one recurring adult character! He’s griping about how he’s got this really great trap but during storms it floods and then there’s a dead body and ugh so inconvenient so he’s got to check it now rather than keep looking for safehouses like he wants to. (more…)
UnWholly Part Five Ch36-37 Connor, Risa
We’re reached the fifth part! Matters of Necessity. There are seven parts total. There’s also eighty-four chapters. Luckily, it looks like the “parts” option is a more accurate measure because we are indeed most of the way done and it’s just there’ll be a lot of micro-chapters to come.
Wait, you say. That can’t be right. If that’s so, the plot should’ve kicked in a while ago.
Yes. It really should’ve.
Children of the Dragon Ch2
SO.
Precisely one year back, I inflicted the first chapter of this on you.
At the end of last year, I warned you of my plan to continue each Friday.
And there were delays, but today…
Today my threats come to fruition. Today, we continue Children of the Dragons.
Remember: It’s your fault for voting for Dresden and Unwind. You brought this on yourselves.
Children of the Dragon Ch3-4
It’s time for more Children of the Dragon, by which I mean more exalts who are not at all dragonblooded.
43-46 Avalanche, Risa, Cam, Risa
Avalanche is actually Risa’s POV but it’s a brief bit followed by another one that does have her name on it, so I guess that’s why it’s deviating from the POV format.
The form she signs has a line saying she does it of her own free will, but of course she’s coerced into it, and It set into motion a cascading series of events that Risa could not have predicted, and yet was expertly orchestrated by Roberta, her associates, and their money.
I like Risa, so let’s be charitable here and assume she means the exact sequence was way more complex than she expected and not that she was flabbergasted by the idea that forcing her to do something that seemed to have no immediate purpose was just part of a larger plan.
Children of the Dragon Ch5
Last time, Ratcatcher met the neverborn above the void itself. Today something much more horrible.
Yushuv.
UnWholly, Ch47-51 Audience, Risa, Cam, Risa, Cam
Yup, another string of these two. The two stories really don’t work well as a whole, even though it seems they should – if Risa was lost early on and Connor had to be dealing with her loss while all the other stuff was going on, we would be able to alternate chapters normally. Instead we get first Connor’s storyline, then Risa’s takes over for a bit.
Well, time for that interview. This time, it’s at a morning talk show whose thing appears to be doing friendly puff pieces. Confirming my theory they killed all the reporters from the first batch, everyone’s amazed by this first look at Cam.
UnWholly Ch52-56, Lev, Nelson, Miracolina, Lev
So, last time I said that the Connor and Risa stories seemed to be separate? I forgot that’s how pretty much everything this book works, and now we’re into a Lev and Miracolina stretch. Either the author doesn’t grasp how to move around between stories or he thinks his audience is too stupid to follow it.
Be aware that separate does not, in this case, mean different. Lev and Cam, Risa and Miracolina…it’s all the same.
We’re on the sixth part, though, which means the end is in sight! (more…)
UnWholly Ch57-63 Connor, Trace, Lev, Starkey, Noah, Starkey, Trace
Well, we’re back to this again. Which means we’re also back to fucking Connor.
“Chatter,” Hayden tells Connor. “All kinds of chatter.”
Hayden paces the tight space in Connor ’s jet, hitting his head on the ceiling more than once.
Connor has rarely seen Hayden this agitated. Until now, he always managed to keep the world at smirking distance.
“Is it just on the Tucson police bands, or the juvey bands too?”
“Everywhere,” Hayden tells him. “Radio, e-mails, every communication we can intercept. The analysis programs have us shooting to red alert.”
Okay, so what’s going on here is they JUST FUCKING REALIZED that Connor2 has been burning down houses while screaming it’s revenge for unwinding plz kill us in retribution for two solid weeks now, and only by accident on the way to noticing that everything’s gone crazy suddenly. This happened only because their analysis programs which run through everything noticed that for them, because they’re that unspeakably incompetent. And yet, we’re supposed to believe they caught Risa’s broadcasts right at the start.
UnWholly Ch64-66 Lev, Nelson, Gate Guard
When last we left off, stupidity had led to the kids at the gate firing at Lev.
Children of the Dragon Ch6
Back to comparatively interesting and reasonable Ratcatcher!
So, he’s still climbing the metal-thorn-rail steps and being all :D at how he’s jamming his hand into barbs without any injury.
UnWholly Ch67-71 Connor, Vessels, Lev, Nelson, Lev
Well, back to Connor. Connor has just finished arming the “bait” kids, who are sixty rather than fifty but oddly don’t get so much of a mention of how more kids than required are apparently willing to sacrifice themselves for the others. (more…)
UnWholly Ch72 Starkey & Alternative
Now time to see how the goblins and their king are doing. (more…)
