So, The Summoning just barely managed to scrape ahead, and then currently we’re tied. The moral here is whining after I’ve already read half a book just means I have to read something else too. Although I probably will be doing Gemma Doyle’s schoolgirl adventures later, possibly next.
Category: 1. The Summoning
Summoning Ch1
Last time on the Summoning, scary ghosts in the basement.
Summoning Ch2
Last time on the Summoning, Chloe whines about how she’s short and hasn’t had her period and her hair isn’t good enough. Also, ghost boy.
Summoning Ch3
Last time on the Summoning, Chloe pretends she didn’t just run into a ghost while getting her lunch back.
Summoning Ch4
Last time on the Summoning, Chloe runs away from a ghost, gets tackled by a teacher, and then she’s knocked out and taken to a hospital.
Summoning Ch5
Last time on nonsensical depictions of mental illness treatment, Chloe was walked around her new home while out of her mind on drugs.
Summoning Ch6
Last time on the Summoning, Chloe may be displaying the first stage of another schizophrenic symptom, paranoia. The EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL nurse tells her clearly what the boundaries are and says to just be honest about things.
Because everyone seems confused (and it isn’t really that clear in the book either) here’s what’s going on as far as we know:
1)Chloe runs screaming through the halls into an empty classroom.
2) Teachers see Chloe, somehow instantly know she’s thinking of jumping out a window despite the window being closed.
3) Teachers tackle Chloe and wrestle her to the ground while she yells about a scary guy they can’t see.
4) ??? Some sort of minimal testing was done, presumably drug testing at least. Doctors don’t tell Chloe their findings but she claims they’re acting like it’s serious.
6) Chloe’s sent to a group home while drugged into incoherence, then given unknown meds on her first day.
Or, in short, nothing makes sense. Some of the pieces here connect up to others, but nothing in sequence and a couple don’t even work in isolation.
Summoning Ch7
Last time on the Summoning, we met the other inmates.
Summoning Ch8
Last time on the Summoning, we learn that no one in the building knows anything about psychiatry.
Summoning Ch9
Last time on the Summoning, Rae is really not a good influence.
Summoning Ch10
Last time on the Summoning, Liz moves things without touching them.
Summoning Ch11
Last time on the Summoning, Chloe continues to ignore the supernatural, then Liz reappears only for Chloe’s hand to pass right through her.
Summoning Ch12
Last time on the Summoning, nothing continues to happen.
Summoning Ch13
Last time on the filler, Chloe fillered the filler with the filler to filler because filler.
Summoning Ch14
Last time on the Summoning, it was the thirteenth chapter and I decided it was time to take my well earned break to go read fanfiction, which turned out to involve a lot of better written stories and plenty of less well done ones that at least didn’t fill me with abject hate. Oh, and Tori’s being drugged into a stupor and Chloe got thrown across the room by Derek but it’s her fault for being mouthy really.
And now I’m right back to the hate. My vacation did nothing. Fuck everyone who voted for this. You knew what you were doing.
