Day 27 Carapace Reviews (11)

January 1st to January 2nd.

The Vagabond’s Trek pt.1 (WV)

He can on make out it’s silhouette.

Only and its. You have a lot of grammar errors throughout this.

He normally just eats it for the pleasure.

He seemed really desperate for food when he appeared in the comic.

This doesn’t seem to really go anywhere. He’s in the desert, he finds food he apparently didn’t really need, he continues walking in the desert.

Serious Business (CD (MP))

This is really cute. And I like how Deuce brushes off the various catastrophes the command prompt suggests, it’s nice to see him being competent.

Homestuck: The Omega Timeline (Lord English, MOC)

The only person standing in his way is…
Well, it would possibly be better if we meet him first

Given who Lord English is and his way of operating, and that this is even repeating his one-player session, does it really have to be a guy tasked with protecting everything from him?

To expand on my point, just look at With Her Imperious Condescension, the only being he allowed to live from one of the universes he blew up, and Bec Noir, the strange ‘Sovereign Slayer’ who was from a timeline which was reset in the other main timeline but managed to facilitate his ‘birth’, as his two trump cards, LORD ENGLIGH hopes to win this battle – so, the woman’s defined by him allowing her to live, while the guy is the one who accomplished things.

Release (Snowman (Crowbar, Stitch))

Enthusiatic and sweet bondage! Don’t see that often. They really work well together.

Heat (Crowbar, Droog (Slick))

“Take it on the bright side,”

Isn’t it generally “look on”?

Anyway, that was nicely violent.

one day see a brighter dawn (The Night That Is Past Remix) (Jade (WQ))

Very nicely put together. Your description of how upsetting it is to deal with normal dreams was truly convincing, and the bit at the end with the White Queen was heartbreaking.

Well, that concludes January 1st.

Misunderstanding (Sollux, Deuce (Ms Paint))

Eh, this seems contrived and it’s the same joke as always. An empty bucket doesn’t look much like a full container of paint, and besides, it’s the drone that shows up demanding a filled bucket, not the troll. He’d be more likely mistaking her for the carapace version of that, or at least that she’s showing up after filling a bucket.

This is what’s ultimately so annoying about fandom, they have all these potential directions to go in and instead just do the same thing.

Promotion (WQ (PM)) (Ladystuck)

I really like how you have them talking in this, not particularly formal and just honest.

This reminds me how pointless all WQ’s planning was. If she’d directed her ship to one of the other planets, they’d all have been safely grabbed and brought to the new session, and it’s not like her plan of blocking Jack actually worked. Giving up her crown was also pointless, PM never had time to make any real decisions.

Which makes me think the only plan to fit is that it was all to get PM to chase Jack. She wouldn’t have known WV had the ring without WQ, and possibly wouldn’t have wanted to use it even if she had.

Giftfic 2 (DD (SS, CD, DD))

Nicely disturbing.

Giftfic 3 (HB (SS, DD))

This seems like it’s more focused on criminal banter than characterization.

Giftfic 4 (Snowman (BK, Jack))

Doesn’t really seem like the setup or character of Snowman. You throw in all sorts of details and develop the setting, but they don’t mesh well with what we know of canon. The rationed cloth thing makes particularly little sense given the prototyping – which, somehow, isn’t featuring in this fic at all? Her powerless at home and fear of attack make little sense, as does the idea the war they’re winning is going badly.

It’s annoying that when there is sympathetic BQ fic, it does it by making her weak and unable to do things.
