Pokeauthors, Part 15

“I’m not saying your team wasn’t bad but you really did criticise the franchise pretty badly and the team was in some places, poorly chosen. If you’ve played black, then you should have learnt from your experiences and known more really, a little disappointed from a pokemon player like you.”

Over-the-black-nexus decided to be fun, so they reappear today:

Oh my fucking Ra, how much more of a child can you get.Okay, you know what, I’ve learnt something. There are some people in this world who are snivelling little bitches just because things don’t go there way and they hate everything, you are one of them! I’ll talk to one total idiot a day.

Today was your day. Tomorrow won’t be and the day after that doesn’t look good either.

Also, just been having the best time ever reading your lets play black 2 just to see how you ended up.

Read the first 3 parts! O_____O God, this proves how much of a bitch you are, do you criticise everything, because it seems you hate almost everything.

And let me get this right, your final team was…

Serperior (grass)
Audino (normal)
Volcarona (bug fire)
Zoroark (dark)
Escavalier (bug steel)
Jellicent (water ghost)

Hmm, 8 types combined, no idea what level they were at all.

Let’s see, Serperior is the weaker of all 3 of the starters. There are better grass types out there. You were better off catching a Sewaddle and evolving it to the max.
Audino, Why? JUST WHY? All it’s good for is EXP training and helping other pokemon in double or triple battles.
Volcarona- for once a fair pokemon. Has decent stats, knows some good moves right off of the bat, can be trained to be a very good pokemon (see I can agree!)
Zoroark- Not a bad dark type I’ll say that and you can fool the enemy with the disguise at the start of a fight. Would have been better off with a Scrafty, fighting and dark, resist the Psychic attacks and has 2 very good abilities. Quite sturdy.
Escavalier- Never saw the point of this one. Bug type alone is bad but a bug steel? Seriously, if you’ve got one bug type, you don’t want another! Plus, for steel types, get an Excadrill or a Lucario, could rule out having Scrafty then if you follow this.
Jellicent- Jellicent is not a bad pokemon indeed. It may be weak to 4 move types but it’s 1/2 damage to six and the ghost type is 2 immunities in one. I must say, I did always like Jellicent.

Now, most people choose Oshawott to being with and there’s a good reason why. It’s a very well rounded pokemon! All it’s stats are very decent, excels well in attack and special whilst still having amazing defence, a nice HP and good speed to back it up. Once it’s evolved, surf, revenge, ice beam and dig are all you need to KICK ASS in my opinion and from a few other fellow pokemon players. Oh, and if you don’t feel like Dig or Revenge, a nice powerful Bug Type move called Megahorn might do the trick.

For me, I did keep my Emboar from Black and traded it when it was high leveled. May not have good speed but Tepig would still have been a better choice than Snivy of all starters.

I mentioned Excadrill, probably one of the best pokemon for this game there is. It can learn a nice diversity of moves, amazing power and amazing speed for lots of earthquakes that kill. Learns a rock type move, a strong normal type move for me and then Shadow Claw too is just a BONUS! Also has great HP, and decent defences but with that speed and attack, you wouldn’t worry.

Grass type, you were better off with Leavanny. But, there is of course, Roserade, who was my final grass poison pokemon, she’s great too. Good grass moves, good poison moves. 2 great abilities. Either poisoning people or curing all stats when battle ends or switched out to save you trouble. She focuses more on special and has great special defense, but beware normal attacks, might hurt. HP might not look great, but it actually is pretty good.

If you were gonna choose Oshawott but still wanted a fire/ ghost, Chandelure is there to help. I had a Chandelure before I got Emboar across and man was she amazing! A little weak on SP defence but the rest was fine. Seriously, a good choice of pokemon (not that Jellicent isn’t either, really depends on starter pokemon!) Other fire type would be a Darumaka evolved into a Darmantian. It had one of the best Attacks in the game and with Sheere Force as it’s ability (boost’s attack move by 33% but gets rid of secondary effect) and amazing speed, it’s even stronger than Reshiram or Volcarona! It’s a trouble to evolve it as you can get them as low as lv 14 and it’v lv 35 but that’s what candies, Join avenue and Audino are for.

Oh fighting, playing black you can get a Heracross, which as ugly as it may look, is a lovely little pokemon! Playing white gets you Pinsir but that Megahorn for kicking Psychic ass. Heracross is so recommended to get.

And if you wanted a steel dual, if you don’t get an excadrill, a Lucario who can’t flinch (Inner Focus) is perfect for fighting. No more Liepards using fake out on ya.

No flying type, I’m amazed. I sort of traded my last 2 pokemon across from previous games using transfer on black and traded to myself. I had a Honchcrow to make up for flying and got a dark type in there too. It may have not decent SP defence but with the right nature, defense is great. Has a good speed, amazing attack and special too for those dark type moves. Though, a crobat isn’t bad either, sorts out the posion, get one that knows inner focus, decent flying type too, recommended highly for black 2 a crobat is.

As for my final, I too had a legendary, Latias. Once I got a soul dew item from Join Avenue, it was all smooth sailing. The dragon Psychic who has stats all over 200 when fully leveled up and some where in the 300’s due to that Soul Dew. It’s speed is amazing and the only thing it lacks is a little defence. It may have 5 weaknesses but all of them come in the form of special at the end end of the day and SP defence makes it hard to kill. I know both these pokemon seem cheeky.

If I didn’t have those 2, emolga was good for the time I had her in black, she was actually a strong little one! And I think I had a Leavanny too.

I’m not saying your team wasn’t bad but you really did criticise the franchise pretty badly and the team was in some places, poorly chosen. If you’ve played black, then you should have learnt from your experiences and known more really, a little disappointed from a pokemon player like you. If I’m your disgrace to then you’re my BIGGEST disgrace to pokemon EVER!

Because it can always get better, pointing out this is stupid and if I wanted the strongest team I could’ve just traded over some legendaries produces

Trading across legendaries isn’t really the point! Makes the game waaay to easy. And fine, I probably won’t crit you on black because if you used most of the pokemon above, then it should have been a doddle. Also, defeating Iris easily for me was knocking her out without dying which should be achievable with a decent team.
I have nothing more to say to you but you don’t review my fics (I’ma block ya), we won’t speak again, go our separate ways and be happy with our lives!!!
——————–So as far as I can make out, they think I complained about the games because they were hard, which admittedly is the level of reading comprehension you’d expect from them.

Thank you for the review…though…I already knew I needed to spell check it, anyway I would appreciate it if well you kept all your negativatiy to your self, I’m just a writer trying to express myself. I’m not perfect and I know it, I don’t need you to tell me that. I appreciate the critisism but you are just some slime that limps its way around the internet looking for someone to put down just to make your self feel superior and better than them, but here in reality you are… well an ass hole.Have a nice day.

A response to your review at http://www.fanfiction.net/r/8875570/I hate to be snappy, and I’m not being rude, But look, I’m doing this for fun to get my creative spirit running. NOT to make a job of it with fancy verbs. Thanks for the review but the storyline will come together soon enough.

A response to your review at http://www.fanfiction.net/r/8910144/You again. Blah blah blah, we can’t all be perfect. What if I’d like to write my story in the way I’d like it. And it’s not about being too young to make them swear, maybe I censor it for thise offended by those words. And seriously, you critique every last detail you don’t like. Well let me tell you, the way you grammar nazi everything just seems like you’re trying to feel surperior. So do me a favor.
If you’re going to review, tell me what you think about the story, and don’t nitpick about everything that doesn’t fit you bill.

This one isn’t for an all grammar review! It’s for one where I explicitly ragequit.

My form for stories has indeed never been top notch.

As for the last part it’s nothing short of condescending and laughable. While
I’m open to criticism, Fan Fictions themselves are often void of original
content. So I suppose the only advice I can offer is accept it for what it is
(a typical Fan Fiction) or don’t bother reading it.

A response to your review at http://www.fanfiction.net/r/8910601/Hey, thanks for the advice on grammar. My grammar is pretty bad, but most of it is just typos from typing to fast. I’m only 13 too which makes me ignorant of some of the more technical stuff. Yeah, I guess the plot is kind of predictable, but this is my first fanfiction so I didn’t want to make anything like way out there the first time.

These two are both pretty depressing.

Shurely | ‘Champions’ review

A response to your review at http://www.fanfiction.net/r/8911022/Thanks for the review, Farla. From what I’ve read, you’ve been frustrated at my story. I’ll address the points you’ve brought up.

– Pokémon names are capitalised. I have even checked it against Bulbapedia. Pokémon, regardless of whether they have a specific name chosen by their Trainer, have capitalised names.

– I don’t understand why you have called me ‘pretentious’ for using semi-colons. You wouldn’t call someone pretentious for using a colon, or a hyphen, or any other piece of punctuation. I don’t use semi-colons because I want to seem particularly educated: I use them because they fit.

– The main character, Leaf (or as I have called her, Roxanne) is understanding of Gary’s current emotions because she has felt the same way when he has beaten her before during her travels. While it is true that her lifelong dream was to become the Pokémon Champion, the reality of her title is still settling in. After all, she has just endured a tough battle against her rival, and becoming a champion doesn’t automatically make her inhuman and insensitive to others’ feelings. She’s proving herself the better person by not bragging about her accomplishment, and is instead empathetic.

– Gary is smiling genuinely because he is pleased on Leaf’s behalf. All people think, and it’s safe to say that he must have been thinking whilst he was travelling. The implication is that Gary has been contemplating about what he’s done to beat Leaf, what has just happened, and what will happen now his title has been stolen, and he’s decided that he is not going to stamp his feet and bawl about losing. I’ve shown Gary as arrogant but underestimated, in the way that people would expect him to fly into a rage, but he really just wants to congratulate Leaf now and find another way to become great.

– The point of adding Leaf’s thoughts on how she acquired her Pokémon is to show that she acknowledges the sacrifices she has made to go that far and finally become a champion. Although she has a powerful Venusaur that has proven its worth, she still longs for her original starter Pokémon. This is unorthodox as most people (I say most, but not all) keep their starter Pokémon and it will usually be their most trusted companion. Here Leaf has traded it to her cousin, showing that she was desperate to fulfil her lifetime goal, but now she has fulfilled it, she can reminisce on the past.

– As said in the brief to the story, this is based on my reactions to the game. I put myself in Leaf’s shoes as well as I could, and while Leaf may be dazed by what’s just occurred, she’s not a fool, and she can see that Professor Oak is mistreating his grandson. Seconds ago, he was the Pokémon Champion, and Prof. Oak came along the moment his title was stolen. At the very least Gary deserves respect for beating the previous Pokémon Champion (which may have been Lance, but I’m not sure on that one), yet instead he’s being half-ignored and half-chided.

Again, thank you for the review, and I hope I’ve cleared things up for you.

Pokeman92 | re: Your review to Chris’s Championship Challenge – A Pokemon Blue Nuzlocke Adventure

A response to your review at http://www.fanfiction.net/r/8912426/Thank you for taking the time to review my work. I always welcome constructive criticism. I do have a few things I would like to point out about my story that justifies certain choices made in writing this chapter:

The whole capitalization thing on pokemon works has been done to death and I really don’t want to get into it. I’ve seen it every way you could possibly imagine, so I’ll just say that for me it all boils down to how capitalization is used in canon works, and I follow that example. Attacks will be capitalized as long as they are specified as attacks and not verbs (“Bulbasaur used a Tackle attack” vs “Bulbasaur tackled Venomoth” note that “attack” isn’t capitalized as it is not in the name of the move, but it would be if the move were “Sky Attack”). As such I also will capitalize items in the game such as Poke Ball, Potion, and PokeDex as they are marketed as product brands manufactured by Devon Corporation or Silph Co. in the games (You capitalize Advil and Yamaha, same goes here).

With regards to your mention of not capitalizing the “Professor” part of “Professor Oak” in my work, you DO capitalize professor if it is someone’s title and it precedes their name, such as Professor John Nash or President Washington (but you don’t capitalize if you state that “George Washington was the first president”). The same ultimately goes for trainer titles in the games too, such as Ace Trainer Paul and Youngster Joey. although they are not as prestigious, the games and other canon material view them as proper titles. Since this is proper in both canon and English, there is no questioning the validity of capitalizing these title names in that way.

With regards to the paragraph about becoming a master, yes that would be true if everybody had the ability to do so. However it is implied in the games and TV series that very few people ever achieve such a title (only a handful each generation), and that trend continues in my own stories. It can be compared to winning the lottery, except it is probably even more unlikely! Because of that, out of 1 million trainers, maybe only one or two would achieve the title of master. Out of those 1 million, perhaps a few thousand would continue training pokemon and living off of prize money (and likely temporary jobs given out to traveling trainers as required) for most of their life, but most would give up and go home, get a “traditional” job, and ultimately forget about their dreams. This ultimately means that nine out of ten trainers will end up joining the regular labor force (and as will be explained later in the story, that is a significant part of the reason why Pokémon training begins at such a young age – because most trainers spend a few years training and then give up by their late teens or early twenties. This is also my reasoning for why you see many more younger trainers in the games than you do older ones). I will make the necessary edit to more accurately reflect this reasoning in the writing instead of simply implying it.

Again, thanks for your review.

A response to your review at http://www.fanfiction.net/r/8910893/Look,i have most of the plot worked out and just need 6-12 more oc’s for it to work out and i understand your veiwpoint entirly. I usedto be on that end about oc’s. So your opinion is apreciated and now I’ve shortened the amount of Oc’s from 15 total to 6 more. Again, thanks for your opinion. If you end up reading this story anyway, thanks!

  1. Jax says:

Pfft, if that lovely chica wants to dish out team advice, she may want to understand how competitive battling works in the first place. Not everything’s about type matchups. It’s also about how you use those Pokémon. For example, giving Samurott Dig? ‘Kay, so you’re pretty much inviting people to 2HKO you with Earthquake, which everyone and their mother in terms of physical attackers tend to sport? I mean, really, one of the first rules of competitive battling is never give your Pokémon two-turn moves like Fly or Dig precisely because they can be exploited hardcore (and because you get better results from moves like Earthquake and Aerial Ace). With Samurott’s speed, having it use Dig (on a moveset that can’t decide which stat to favor, no less) is a lot like lying down and inviting people to beat the crap out of you. It’s not even that great in-game, either. Because, well, you’re not going to be sending Samurott out against an Electric-type unless you want Samurott to die, and Samurott isn’t really all that threatened by anything else that’s weak to Ground. Do you need to worry about taking out a Poison-type or a Steel-type with Samurott? No, because that’s what the rest of your team is for, and if on the off-chance they couldn’t do the job, it’s not like Samurott will be OHKO’d by either Poison or Steel Pokémon while it spams Surf or stalls while you revive and heal your party.

Also, the number of people who use Samurott as an endgame Pokémon isn’t equal to the majority of Pokémon gamers. It’s NU for a reason. ‘Course, this girl’s team choices are all over the tier map and would never be able to work together as a coherent team, but, y’know, Samurott isn’t actually as popular as she describes. I don’t think any of the starters really are, although Emboar is actually sitting pretty in a higher tier (meaning competitive battlers are more likely to choose it than the others unless they’re playing in the NU tier for some reason), if memory serves me right. Even when it comes to in-game shenanigans, I’ve seen pretty much an equal amount of people who carried around Emboar or Serperior… and many, many more who just boxed their starters and said the hell with it.Of course, that’s not the only silly thing she’s said about team building, and of course, it’s not like you give a crap either way about teams anyway. (Didn’t you even state that outright at one point during your play-through?) I’m just saying, damn, seriously, if you’re going to criticize someone else’s attitude, at least know what you’re talking about first.

This tl;dr brought to you by the letters P and Q and the number “Jax is bored again.”

    1. Farla says:

I get the impression her credentials are that she played the game with some pokemon, won, and decided it was a sign of personal awesomeness. I mean, from her bit about audino she doesn’t even seem to grasp how support pokemon work if they’re not directly hitting your pokemon with healing attacks.
(Didn’t you even state that outright at one pointduring your play-through?)

Even if I didn’t it should have been pretty clear from the way I kept dumping pokemon off my team every time they evolved or I thought I had a handle on the way they battled.

  2. Ember says:

So you aren’t allowed to have opinions on storytelling unless you’re a minmaxer?  I always thought it was closer to the other way around.

    1. Farla says:

I think I’m not allowed opinions, period. Although from her comments even if I was minmaxing she’d probably have told me I was doing it wrong anyway because REAL trainers trade for latias I guess.
