Up top is…Iris, it looks like.
She’s sitting in an open room with what looks like a giant dragon statue behind her and some sort of model of the universe on the wall behind her that’s got four planets in different orbits circling a giant red sun. Proof pokemon takes place in another universe? Or are those just the first four planets of our solar system? The colors don’t seem to bear any resemblance – Mars is typically red and Earth blue.
Welcome, challenger!
And the place lights up.
I’ve been waiting for this!
Well, I’ve got 108 things of moomoo milk, so I guess I might as well heal my pokemon a bit.
I’ll lead with my zoroark.
When I talk to her, I then go back to the left, and she walks to the right, I guess because we’re squaring off. It’d be a nice detail if it wasn’t for all those battles I just had in a tiny area without any need for this.
Know what? I really look forward to having serious battles with strong Trainers! I mean, come on! The Trainers who make it here are Trainers who desire victory with every fiber of their being!
N seemed pretty conflicted, I thought.
And they are battling alongside Pokemon that have been through countless difficult battles!
Well, I guess that’s literally true in how the level system works, but not in the sense that the trainer has been with the pokemon for that. Again, N.
If I battle with people like that, not only will I get stronger, my Pokemon will, too! And we’ll get to know each other even better!
Yet again, N.
OK! Brace yourself! I’m Iris, the Pokemon League Champion, and I’m going to defeat you!
Different vs sprite setup, with full pictures of us both.
Incidentally, her character design is great. I’m not too thrilled with the ultimate boss being a little kid – part of the fear when facing the elite four is they’re all scary experienced adults – but just look at her outfit! That is totally what a kid who’s the most powerful trainer would wear.
She leads with a L61 hydreigon. Dig? No, for once the sprite doesn’t lie and it’s got levitate. U-turn time. How about my serperior? Fuck! Why did it use fire blast. Fine, Audino? You try. I use wish, it uses focus blast. Then my zoroark again, u-turn finishes it off. Why the hell can’t zoroark learn x-scissor anyway?
L61 lapras. My serperior uses mega drain. It uses…hydro pump? What the fuck is this shit this isn’t just a water type it’s a water type that’s half ice why the fuck doesn’t it know an ice move? Okay now three moves it in finally used blizzard. So it does have that move, it’s just too stupid to use it! What the hell? Anyway too little too late, I beat it and my serperior ends the battle with more HP than it started with.
L63 haxorus. I don’t remember what type this is besides dragon. I use leech seed, it knocks my serperior out with x-scissor. Jellicent! See if you can do anything interesting. Nope, outrage faints it before it can use ice beam. Volcarona, fly it to death. God, my volcarona’s slow, it gets hit by outrage first. At least now it’s confused. And now it’s snapped out of confusion and earthquaked my poor volcarona to death. My zoroark finishes it off. Also, the internet informs me it’s a pure dragon type. Huh.
L61 druddigon. I forget, is this one part flying? I feel like I thought it was only to find out it’s pure or something. Well, let’s find out! Escavalier, use x-scissor! Or faint on the first turn fine.
Well, now I’m down to just my zoroark at low health. Now, items. In my defense, she used them first.
Okay, Audino killed it and my zoroark is at full health again.
L61 aggron. Does it know earthquake? It really should, that’d defend again dig and fire pokemon. Well. Either it doesn’t or it won’t use it. Zoroark kills it.
L61 archeops. Hm. So, is Zoroark faster? YES. Foul play nearly knocks it out, and cripples it in the process. Then it’s easy to take down.
And that’s all.
Aghhhh… I did my best, but we lost…
I’m upset I couldn’t win! But you know what? More than that, I’m happy! I mean, come on. By having a serious battle, you and your Pokémon, and me and my Pokémon, we all got to know one another better than before! OK, let’s go!
And the spinning planets line up, the dragon statue lowers, the sun opens up, and stairs form leading up to the hole. So basically while I’m fighting the enemy team trying to destroy the world, they’re installing increasingly fancy ridiculous things that probably cost a fortune.
OK! Go on ahead! Hurry!
And she pushes me up, then once she’s shoved me the whole way to the top, she runs out in front of me. Well, at least she’s taking her defeat well.
Iris: So, this room is the Hall of Fame! Your name and your Pokemon’s names will be recorded here so these important things will never be forgotten: That you are an excellent and kind Trainer! That you are considerate toward your Pokemon, and you give them your whole heart!
“But not so considerate that your first thought right now is to heal your mostly fainted team! Nope, just wallow in personal glory.”
And that your wonderful Pokemon believe in their Trainer with all their hearts, and together you have a strength that knows no bounds!
She leads me up to a glowing freaky pool.
Hey, c’mon!
“You know only those who drink the radioactive blood of Arceus are allowed to be pokemon masters!”
Oh, excuse me… Farla!
Then she turns to face the door.
To the Trainer standing before me!
The door isn’t a trainer, Iris.
And to the Pokemon at your side! Your beautiful bond has grown strong through battle! In order to make this bond an eternal treasure, your names shall be recorded here!
Oh, it’s not a glowing pool, it’s somewhere to put my pokeballs on.
The pokemon flash by and the background reflects their type, but only the first I guess.
Then it says I’m league champion. Yay!
And… a key comes down to unlock challenge mode? I guess the point is now I have the key, so I can unlock others, but still, way to make it obvious you never meant for people to play through from the beginning like this.
Fireworks go off, then it pans down and I walk out, then Iris follows me, then the other elite four seem to talk to me as I walk by but there’s no dialogue so maybe they’re just silently congratulating me, then they form a V, then, I guess freaked out by their silence and how they’re moving as one I run away.
And it’s the credits! Hi credits!
There’s a picture of me sprinting away from the League.
And now I’m sprinting back through the badge check area. Run from the crazy people, little avatar!
Now I’m meeting Marlon next to the heart-covered jellicent face board thing. Keep running!!!!!!!!
And now with Clay? Looks like they’re digging.
Now I’m meeting Skyla by the plane… Basically retracing my steps.
Now it’s a picture with me and Clay and Failry and the ex-team plasma.
And now a picture of doing movies while I watch.
Now I’m visiting Elesa and the spotlight has picked me from the crowd.
Junichi something apparently is to blame for the plot.
I’m at Roxy’s concert, looks like?
Watching Douchy and Cheren fight while Bianca watches as well because she’s a girl.
N IT’S N HI N!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then running back I think toward my town?
Now I’m walking home and there’s Mom. We head inside. Looks like the garden’s tomatoes are ripe.
THE END.
Good credits!
