Pokemon Blue, Day Twenty-one

Last time, the department store and evolution.

Just beyond there…

Another one! Which again no one seems to actually be doing anything about!

Actually, I think the games could use more random pokemon getting in your way. The real problem here is just the length of the delay.

Well, let’s try going around.

If you don’t know about it in advance, there’s a good chance you won’t think to try to walk into the side of the building here before going through the main entrance, where you can see there’s a second pathway.

Of course, the guy praises you regardless of how long it takes.

This always made me feel kind of bad. If someone asks you not to tell, should they really have to bribe you? What sort of a dick is the character here?

I’m not sure who she is or why she’s so afraid of being found out. At the time I just took it in stride that someone would want a secret house where no one could find them. Did anyone ever write fic about her?

While this is useful, the real reason I want it is because it’s one of the best flying moves available. Hell, it’s something other than normal-type, that alone is going to be important for Lavender.

As pointless as gust is to me, whirlwind outright does nothing in trainer battles.

Time to go check out the slots again.

This is the only place you can get porygon, but as you can see, it’ll cost you. The rest can be caught, although at this stage you won’t know that. Still, if you really hate the Safari Zone, it’s good to have another option. Or for the cheaper ones, if you don’t want to bother trying to catch an abra or run around Mt. Moon any longer.

In Red, porygon is even pricer, at 9999 coins. This is another reason why Blue is superior to Red.

And again, no way of knowing what those are. This is more of a problem, because it’s pretty hard to get that many coins in the first place, so there’s more to this than just saving in advance of purchase.

Well, time to get some coins…

The place called ROCKET GAME CORNER that has a guy in a Team Rocket uniform standing in the back?  You think?

Photobucket

I remember all sorts of claims about which machine paid out best. Don’t remember which, though.

Photobucket

And this guy is a counterpoint, though I remember other people saying that if you won for a while but started to lose you should switch machines, possibly because of this guy or just because that’s how people always think.

Just like the first time I played, it takes forever to find the jackpot.

I always wished these refreshed. It makes sense that people would keep dropping them, and also the coins are so damn expensive.

In Yellow, it’s possible to catch wild kadabra early on. Not so here, although they will be around in the endgame (another reason not to have one on your team).

Photobucket

As you can see here, the prize abra are even more low level than the wild ones, so I’ll just catch a second one now that I have fly and can move around the map easily.

Photobucket
That was easy.

Right then, back to the game corner.

The poster the criminal said he was guarding and everyone keeps mentioning is important actually is!?

Note that if you try to investigate this area beforehand, you can’t get down here even though obviously the Team Rocket guy did somehow.
