Pokemon Omega Ruby Day 23

Back to this at last!

Okay, my swablu just evolved. Also, my egg’s finally hatched, into a wynaut because why not.

Altaria dances and wheels through the sky among billowing, cotton-like clouds. By singing melodies in its crystal-clear voice, this Pokemon makes its listeners experience dreamy wonderment.

Wynaut can always be seen with a big, happy smile on its face. Look at its tail to determine if it is angry. When angered, this Pokemon will be slapping the ground with its tail.

Is there any official/semiofficial connection between the wobbuffet family and girafarig, by the way?

I put a geodude on my team and head down to the Land of Lots of Berries, and on my way back up I stop off to fish.

Carvanha’s strongly developed jaws and its sharply pointed fangs pack the destructive power to rip out boat hulls. Many boats have been attacked and sunk by this Pokemon.

Feebas’s fins are ragged and tattered from the start of its life. Because of its shoddy appearance, this Pokemon is largely ignored. It is capable of living in both the sea and in rivers.

It’s interesting that’s a distinction when pokemon species don’t seem to care much about fresh vs salt water. Or do they and I just haven’t been paying attention to the pattern of which water types show up where?

Okay, back to the plot –

False alarm, Wynaut’s evolving.

If two or more Wobbuffet meet, they will turn competitive and try to outdo each other’s endurance. However, they may try to see which one can endure the longest without food. Trainers need to beware of this habit.

Wow, that’s a really good entry. Almost makes up for the fact my wobbuffet is wearing lipstick for no good reason. I replace it with a trapinch.

At last, it’s time to get an absol…

…if they ever stop fainting.

Ah, and now taillow’s evolving.

Swellow flies high above our heads, making graceful arcs in the sky. This Pokemon dives at a steep angle as soon as it spots its prey. The hapless prey is tightly grasped by Swellow’s clawed feet, preventing escape.

Ah, finally caught a girl absol in a premier ball.

Every time Absol appears before people, it is followed by a disaster such as an earthquake or a tidal wave. As a result, it came to be known as the disaster Pokemon.

And properly ambiguous pokedex entry to go with it!

Mega is which is one of the better megas I’ve seen but still kind of busy looking. Absol just already look so perfect as they are, you know?

I decide to celebrate by heading back to exchange Tryke for her. Also I pick up Latios, and I go talk to the camera people. Now the world will know to fear me.

Upon victory, I update my post-battle quip of DROWN! to have a second exclamation mark. How many will I have by the end?

You have to raise a sharpedo to ride! It’ll show you riding kyogre if you get one too! And I know you’re avoiding the glut of experience but I’m pretty sure absol provide the most experience for just finding them in the pokenav to beat up.

Oh, I’ll get everything in the end.

In these games at least I noticed the goldeen and corphish evolution lines were always in the calm ponds with reflective surfaces while Tentacool and others like carvanha and wailmer were always found in the darker blue sea tiles that have the wave animation, so they actually were fairly consistent with that. I’m not sure about all of them, though. Magikarp are found everywhere and feebas are only found on this one route, so it doesn’t actually demonstrate feebas living in both in the game.

Also, seconding the idea of surfing on different water-types. Not all of them have a difference when surfing, but a few actually do.

    1. Farla says:

Hm. I wonder if that’s true in the original one.
