Pokemon X Day 26

Ah, this is a fun town. They even animated little puffs of breath as she moves.

Apparently, the cute little ghosts evolve by trade. Also, they’ve cut out the glitch where you could get your own pokemon to evolve by depositing it and completing another trade in the GTS.

So I’ve gotten the two off of that, and now possess a gourgeist…

Singing in eerie voices, they wander town streets on the night of the new moon. Anyone who hears their song is cursed.

…and trevenant.

It can control trees at will. It will trap people who harm the forest, so they can never leave.

I liked their unevolved forms better, they were a lot cuter, but I can’t argue with the stat boost.

When feeding them pokepuffs, I discover that when you pet ghost pokemon, your hand goes right through the ghosty parts. Whoever was in charge of this section of the game really loved their job.

There’s also the move deleter at last. I’ve just been sticking the moves on whatever pokemon I have at the time, so I’ve ended up with a lot of pokemon stuck with useless stuff like cut. And the rememberer. I check my pokemon and seems like the game’s gotten really into the whole business of having super powerful moves that are technically at the very start of the list so they’ve overwritten by later moves. Eh, I’ll stick with what I have for now.

The way forward is a big snowy route and everyone tells me I need to go get a mamoswine to ride, and that currently it’s over by some cave. So I’ll head there. Presumably it’s on the previous route I haven’t completed yet.

And I’ve found the way back to center pokeball city. One person remarks that since I’m cool enough to have come from this direction, I can go through, so, presumably they’d have blocked me if I tried to leave in this direction.

You know, I’m actually not sure how railroady this game’s been. It hasn’t been infuriating me like last time, but maybe part of that is I’m not trying to dodge around things as much. Still, there’s been no sign of bullshit bridge closings everywhere.

Get this! I saw some giant walking around! He must have been over nine feet tall! I heard a tale about him, too! They say he’s been wandering around for 3,000 years in search of a certain Pokemon!

So the nine foot giant is a human, then? I wonder if this is one of those things you’ll actually get to see.

My goomy’s evolving! Sliggoo, now extra snaily!

It drives away opponents by excreting a sticky liquid that can dissolve anything. Its eyes devolved, so it can’t see anything.

Yet it still has them for some reason.

Anyway, having fought all the fishermen, I seem to have gone everywhere on this route. So where’s this cave…? Huh, apparently in the snowy town.

Ah, there’s a way past the windmill. I guess I was thrown off by the changing perspectives.

And it’s pretty snowy! Quite pretty all around, with the water and the white. (The water doesn’t seem to have anything new in it, though.) Across the bridge I find the mamoswine and someone with it, who asks if I’m headed for the cavern.

And Greenbox has just appeared behind me, so it looks like we’ll be getting a real cutscene.

The guy explains that normally, the pokemon loves giving rides, but now it seems upset about something in the cave.

Mamoswine is a Pokemon that loves cold climates, interjects Greenbox. So, maybe it sensed something amiss in the Frost Cavern.

That absolutely does not follow.

And indeed, our new character only dignifies the suggestion with the question mark and a response of, And you are?

He gives his name, adding, I’m researching the distribution of Pokemon in the Kalos region at Professor Sycamore’s request.

Did you just block out when he told you he actually didn’t care but sure you could do that if it made you feel important?

Actually now that I say that I guess I can see why you’d want to block it from memory.

Anyway, so that’s why he’s here.

He says he’s getting ready for his expidition, but so far there’s been no sign this will be any different than every other area. In fact, Serena can run around in shorts and a halter top if she likes.

Well, I’m assuming the cave will take awhile and it’s late now, so have some photos of Serena for now.
