Funny and snappily written. It’s nice to see foolishness like pretend car chases and SS having knives on hand no matter the situation, and PS does good at being smug without being totally untouchable.
And Death Looked On Him Fondly
This all makes sense in a metaphorical sense and all, since maybe if you’d been less of the tool everyone told you were, maybe you wouldn’t have died. You like to think that they at least thought you were a nice, useful tool, like a hammer or something.
This doesn’t sound at all like Eridan. It’s a nice riff on the word, but it’s not the sort he’d make. He really didn’t care much about being helpful to the others.
They probably labeled you as a bent up screwdriver, though, by the way one of them slashed through you with a freaking chainsaw.
The “one of them” who did that is the one who he murdered using the weapon she made for him. I think Eridan has at least enough of a grasp of people’s motivations to guess she didn’t do it because she didn’t think he was useful enough.
You know enough about mythology to know that you’re in purgatory.
You struggle because according to a good third of myth, you’re going to hell any moment now.
Only a third? He murdered his teammates, including one at the top of the hemospectrum and another who’d just finished doing him a favor, and also destroyed any future their entire race had. If the trolls have a concept of morality at all, I don’t think it’d be too hard to guess where it says he goes.
Your name is Eridan Ampora, and you are a pathetic tool, and you have died alone and unloved.
No, really, why is there no mention of all that murdering people who helped him?
“Hello,” he gestures. “I bought you some tea. It’s a courtesy to meet you, Mr. Ampora.”
Do you mean he’s communicating by gesture? Otherwise, if “gesture” is not a description of how he’s talking, you treat it as a separate sentence and it’s written as “Hello.” He gestures. “I bought you some tea. It’s a courtesy to meet you, Mr. Ampora.” Also, I don’t think “courtesy” is the word you want there. “Privilege” or something like that.
“Well, apparently I was being inefficient, so they said I needed a partner. Since you had associations with angels, they decided on you.”
…this really doesn’t make much sense. I mean, you have him being hung in some level of the afterlife to start, so it seems like the whole death and afterlife business is on autopilot since Death in the PS universe meets with people immediately afterward. Alternian angels have dubious connection to the afterlife, and also, he spent the game murdering them, so it’s odd they’d do anything even marginally positive toward Eridan.
Also, a drabble is a word for a 100 word story.
So Vriska gets a Death-fic where she’s hideously tortured, and Eridan gets one about how he’s a poor baby.
Sometimes I wonder if I should have just spent my time reviewing Eridan fic and cataloguing this sort of thing instead of carapaces. But then I realize this would probably make me hate everything even more.
Killing the weak sure drains your energy, don’t it Jack? You think to yourself
Should be Killing the weak sure drains your energy, don’t it Jack? you think to yourself, as thoughts follow the same capitalization rules as regular dialogue. Jack seems somewhat too self-loathing and moral right here – he’s just not the sort of guy to care he killed weak people, or massacred people at all. The rest, knowing it means she hates him and there’s nothing he can do to change it and all, that works fine, but I just can’t see him as ever caring about what he actually did, even slightly.
I do love how you describe things though – how he sees PM, the way he can’t stop wondering what if maybe…until finally it’s the death of him.
Also, a drabble is a word for a 100 word story.
I am Jack’s complete lack of surprise.
Extremely creepy but doesn’t seem to line up with what’s supposed to be going on. I mean, I am Jack’s compulsion towards cleanliness? He doesn’t have one. You’re having Bro behave differently, but framing it as Jack’s influence when it’s just a series of random things that have no connection to Jack’s character.
Huh, real xeno, that’s nice to see. My only complaint would be making her silent, we’ve known carapaces can talk for quite a while.
The atmosphere of this is very nice, and I love the pacing, but I can’t shake the feeling it’s really post-apocalyptic fiction rather than anything particularly Homestuck. It’s not clear at all why Dave had to kill Bro and Rose, and while neither he or John are out of character given how much the situation would change someone, they’re both really post-apoc OCs here.
This one was really, really popular.
I drabbled this while talking with ElasticPoodle
A drabble is a word for something written and edited to be precisely 100 words. It’s the polar opposite of something short you threw together when inspirattion hit.
This is a cute little fic – I particularly like You feel your heart pounding in your chest! Which should be impossible, seeing how your heart no longer serves to actually pump LIFE SUSTAINING MATTER and is now a HILT for your SWORD OF KILLING MANY THINGS. and you generally have a very amusing adventure-game style here.
So mostly fic from people other than the usual gang today. Next up is Lucky_spike and probably after that will be Lucky_spike followed by Lucky_spike and then for variety, Lucky_spike.
I’ve reached the 18th of December. We will never reach 2012. The ficpocalypse happens as the Mayans predicted.
