Thursday Carapaces Part 22 (6)

Under My Thumb (Snowman (Crowbar, Aradiacester, Lord English))

You have done a really great job of making hideously depressing things I don’t want to be true sound horribly convincing.

And the way Lord English works just makes it worse because there’s no way things could change for anyone.

Something to Smile About (Doze (CD, Snowman, Scratch))

Cute while it lasts, but they seem slightly too childlike at times. It seems like they could act somewhat more adult without really compromising the idea they’d run around having icecream.

Also yay, Snowman!

Obligations (SS (Karkat, Droog, Female OC I’m not sure counts because she’s fridged before the story begins))

Ah, that’s dismal yet I can see things playing out like that, right down to Slick’s eventual acceptance. I wish there was a little more focus on the fact a person was murdered and not just that Slick’s sad about it, though.

Also, kind of confused why this is set in the stabdad universe when Karkat seems to raise the same issue about focus and the presence of the kids isn’t adding anything to the plot.

It’s introduction was as swift and ruthless as it’s departure.

Its is the possessive form. It’s means it is.

Blood smeared oer the screen

Over. Spellcheck.

Fandom desperately needs a primer about appropriate use of fanon and AU concepts. Part one: if whatever fanfic invention actively opposes the story you’re trying to tell, for fuck’s sake don’t include it. Come on, people.

Foreboding (DD (PI))

Guilt and sadness are etched into his face, and even though your own is forever marred because of him, you feel awful for entertaining the thought of harming something so helpless.

This really, really doesn’t seem like anything any version of Droog would feel, unless it’s just meant to show that the kidnappings and torture have gone on long enough that even he’s started to get messed up by them. I could see him trying to find a way to get PI under his control, or maybe even curiosity, but not that he just can’t bear to hurt someone, let alone someone who’s constantly hurting him.

The widespread nature of the fanon verses seems to be that it’s tapping into some widespread agreement on how things should be. That this happens to be insanely fucked up says worrying things about us as a people.

Anchor (PI (PS, DD))

On the eleventh day, you drank seven cups of tea and watched documentaries on animals for twenty-two hours straight.

Do you mean pots of tea? Seven cups is really not that much over a whole day.

Well, you’ve done a good job of making him seem unhinged yet pathetic.

I don’t really understand what’s up with DD, though. I was expecting some sort of explanation for why DD hadn’t been around for so long, but instead he just appears once PS says PI’s having a breakdown as if he was totally capable of doing so before now. Why wouldn’t DD have already known PI would end up like this and either gone to see him before now or else ignored the request? The only thing that fits is him only being there because PS actually threatened him, and I don’t think that’s the idea at all.

==> Innovator: Throw It On The Ground (PI (AD))

Hm, interesting to see AD show up and nice to get a look at how the working relationship is between this version of the group, or at least two of them.

Still on Dec 3rd. The mass upload habits make it really hard to get an idea of pace.
