OK, if you’re going to be so critical – and you’re entitled to be – I’d like
to say MY piece.

It doesn’t matter, to me, when listing, whether I use numerals or written
words ‘one, two, three etc.’

I don’t care if anyone finds this version of Ash ‘sickeningly OOC’, because
it’s a fanfiction. It’s not canon to the original stimulus. For all anyone on
this site cares, I could have Ash marry his Pikachu, and that’s a basic
fanfiction.

I am a scriptwriter in my spare time OUT of writing fanfictions, so adding
scene break labels comes as second nature to me, and old habits die hard with
me.

When using punctuation, whether in speech or not, I’m used to capitalising the
word that follows the punctuation.

I am very well aware of how eyes TRULY work in human anatomy, as I DID score
an A in my Biology exams. The point of the line was to be slightly more
poetic. Whether it was anatomically correct or not was irrelevant to me.

As for Jessie and James being OOC, Jessie is a 14 year old girl in this scene,
on her first official assignment, having to kill an innocent young child. I
don’t think that ANYONE in her situation, baring in mind her backstory in the
anime and Japanese-only media, that she’d be all too proud of what she was
doing. I am planning to bring her more – so called – ‘Into Character’ when I
reintroduce her and James into the plot.

I thank you for your review, all the same, and will continue to write for this
fiction.

Subject: Thanks for the advice, but be clear, PLEASE!

A response to your review at http://www.fanfiction.net/r/7762446/

I understand where you’re coming from, and I do appreciate the advice, but
please, if you are going to give advice and correct other peoples’ grammer, do
it clearly! I understand what you are saying, but that first paragraph was
horrible. Too many run on sentences at least try to put some space in between
everything. The bottom part was pretty good though.

Now for the Hello he grinned/said thing. I’m not exactly sure what you were
trying to get across there, but what I meant when I typed that was he grinned
when he said hello or hi. That’s it, I don’t see why I have to put that he
said when I really don’t and it’s perfectly clear who is speaking.

Now concerning Gary’s age, I made him 13 because that’s what fit in my head,
it’s not that far from ten years old so it isn’t that bad. And that reason I
put the location of where the scenes take place is make transition between
different settings in a chapter easier. It’s also to give the readers an
easier time of figuring out what is going on and where they are.

And I haven’t seen the first episode of Pokemon in a long time so excuse me if
I didn’t get it exactly right. And it’s not special treatment that he’s giving
them. Ash and Coal’s mom and dad have handled Pokemon before, and as a result,
Ash and Coal also got to handle Pokemon that most children normally wouldn’t
handle. And the way Prof. Oak made it seem, along with Pikachu’s original
behavior itself, was that Pikachu’s were very hard Pokemon to handle for a
novice. Ash and Coal have experience with handling Pokemon prior to starting
their journey. It’s not that they are super special Pokemon, it’s just that
they are not something that should be given to an inexperienced trainer as a
starter Pokemon normally. They make a habit out of trying to fry you when they
don’t like you, I don’t think that’s something you give to a Pokemon Trainer
just starting out on their journey.

Ok, I have said my peace. Now I don’t want to turn this into an arguement, I
just wanted to make a couple of things clear. I’m sorry if my way of writing
displeases you, but please, at least try and understand that not everybody
writes the same way or uses the exact same grammer as you do. I have my own
style of writing, and so do you. Heck, I’m not even the only person who does
some of this stuff! So please, before you start correcting others, at least
try and see things from their point of view. Again, thanks for the advice, but
please don’t correct people when you don’t understand their style of writing.
Everyone’s is different afterall. And don’t let that ruin the story for you.
If you like the story then by all means keep reading, grammer isn’t
everything, besides I’m doing the best that I can. If that’s not good enough
for you then oh well, I can’t please everybody now can I?

I hope I haven’t upset you too bad, if so, then all I can do is apologize, and
I don’t really see why I should. Please do NOT go turning this into an
arguement. I understand where you’re coming from, really I do, I probably
would have typed the same things if I were you, who knows? And I am grateful
for the advice, but if you are going to give advice, then please be clear
about it, and try and see things from the writer’s perspective and remember
that everybody has a different style of writing. That’s all I have to say now
honestly. Goodbye for now.

I’d like to point out that from this, it seems it’s not that people don’t understand what I’m saying with the grammar paragraph, they’re just confused by the idea I’d expect them to follow rules if they don’t feel like it. I suggest angry ferrets that can travel through computer screens to remedy this problem.

Once again,
IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE EFFING STORY,
please don’t read it. It’s irritating…seriously, do you even have a life?
I’m assuming you’re some 21 year old with no life what so ever.

OH, and I’m just saying, but there WERE breaks indicating different parts of
the story. Sadly, I must’ve not spaced them out enough, so they didn’t appear
in the story.

Jesus Christ,
you’re like the effing story police- GET. A. FUCKING. LIFE.

Fucking people liek your dumbass are what ruin crea-fucking-tivity of people.

Thank you; this is my first pokemon fanfic, so I wasn’t entirely sure of the
rules pertaining to capitalization. I think I corrected everything.

I wasn’t sure about the age. I know that trainers typically start at eleven,
but as I had planned on making this fanfic romantic in nature eventually, I
figured that would be a bit awkward. Is changing the age not something that is
normally done?

My god if you hate the story don’t read it! I can write any damn way I want!
I’m sorry my imperfect grammar bothered you but you know the saying, if you
don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all. Trust me much worse
stories are on here and I’m only starting out I’m in eight grade so I’m not so
perfect writer. But at least I’m not going around telling people they suck and
YES I do know paragraphs have rules and I have my own way of writing I write
the story then do re-writes to fix my mistakes. So thanks for you’re pointless
speech.

Hm. Well, I was aiming for a one-dimensional feel from Jack, at least at
first; he’s meant to be rather annoying. Unless he’s too annoying right now? I
suppose I could tone it down.

As for Lily, I had planned to flesh out her character in later chapters, but
any suggestions as to how to do it earlier would be appreciated; I’m a newbie
to the fanfic scene, and advice from a veteran would be amazing.

Subject: In regards to your review…

A response to your review at http://www.fanfiction.net/r/7762529/

I thank you very much for your review, but I do have a few concerns about what
you said…

I can see your reasoning on capitalizing Pokemon just by itself, but I
capitalize names of Pokemon because I see them as proper nouns, regardless of
if they’re owned by somebody or not. Just typing ‘pikachu’ seems silly to me,
especially since it’s not just a ‘mouse’ or ‘rodent…’ it’s a Pikachu .__.;;

[And as a side thought, I do capitalize things like Trainer and Coordinator
because I see them as titles, which to my knowledge are usually capitalized.
If you wouldn’t mind, I want to ask your opinion on why they shouldn’t be. I’m
just curious.]

And as to your last statement… well, I don’t really have much to say to that
xP Other than I hope that I haven’t already lost readers because of the
uninteresting start, and that I won’t continue to lose them as the story goes
on because it ends up being just another boring cliche. And, I will try to
keep a better eye out for mistakes such as ‘dragged’ instead of ‘drug’ and
whatnot.

Again, thank you so much for the review. It was very helpful~

I had perfect grammar in Year 8 and so did most of the people whose writing I’d seen…
I really didn’t get paragraphing until ~Year 6, though. It really confused me whenever anyone tried to explain the whole “new idea” thing, since each sentence was saying something different so that was a new idea, right? Then one day it just clicked. :)
