Good stuff.

Sorry about that! The only reason I capitalise Pokemon names is because that’s how it’s done everywhere else I look. :)

Thanks for pointing all of that out for me, by the way! It was very helpful :) Thanks for taking your time to give me the critique :)

Well, now I’m scared. Bizarro world has well and truly taken over. What if I can never return to the real-

Wait, no, that’s good.

*sigh* I’m not mad for your somewhat… rude review. It’s your opinion; and I can’t change it. Though I’d be happy if you didn’t say rude things about my work. I know it’s really confusing to you. It’s kinda supposed to confuse you. Why did the Eevee have its mouth stitched shut? Because it was a quiet nature? Or is it something much darker?
But really, I understand your confusion. I’m not the best writer in the world; nor will I ever be 100% perfect or understandable. :)
Lunara the Ara | Review reply

And another thing, my story isn’t a “jumble of ideas from OTHER scary stories.” I mean, sure it has a few references, but I’ve seen way worse. I read your comment much more closely, and now I’m mad. I never enjoyed getting crap about my (sometimes) hard work, and I HIGHLY doubt you enjoy it either!

Ah, you can actually see things sliding back to normality here.

They’re unwilling to be baited into finding out if the whole “you wouldn’t like it if someone did this to you!!!” thing is true.

I will take your advice to heart. However, I disagree with you on the humor part. I think that humor is a bit subjective, so I don’t think you can just say something isn’t funny like it’s a fact.

And as for the title, well, I didn’t know what else to call it. Do you? No, I’m not being sarcastic, I really have no idea what a more appropriate name would be.

I appreciate your constructive critism!

Though it was quite confusing with the first paragraph

Ah, I noticed there’s two ways on fanfiction to write the names of Pokemon. Most people capitalize the first letter, like they do in the games. Others don’t.

I believe that the Pokemon species are capitalized, since it is technically their name. In the game, you have an option to nickname your Pokemon or keep it how it is with their original name. And since names are capitalized, so are the Pokemon’s names.

I appreciate your constructive critism and opinion. Thank you so much for spending some of your time to write it for me.

Hope you have a great day!~

:D

You pointed out the one thing I wa shaky about when I wrote this. I had to have Waverly go back to the house alone to finish out the plot line. I like your review here, seeing as youre the first person thats ever given me negative criticism. Thank you for that.

See HERE, now, Farla. It’s up to the READER to decide. Apparently you don’t have any imagination, or you wouldn’t have written down such a MORBID review. Don’t you think that you’d hurt Lunara’s feelings? If you don’t like it, FINE–but don’t be so CRITICAL about it! At least give some CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM to help her out. If you can’t do that, then perhaps you shouldn’t have even reviewed the story in the first place.

Flamefox2 | re: Your review to qUiEt

Believe me, I really don’t care whether I use it in the right context or not. And anyone who messes with my friend messes with ME, so DEAL with it, chum.

Of course, criticism is critical, but you didn’t leave any POSITIVE input, or any good comment AT ALL. You just talked about how bad it was, and pointed out weaknesses, practically KILLING Lunara like a knight can kill a helpless baby. If you’re going to hate, at least cushion the bad criticism a little.

I’m not generally one to post any further PMs, but god look at how great this is.

Heh, I know. The main point was to build suspense (which I failed at miserably). My first attempt at a horror story. I’ll try to improve on the next one I write (if I make another horror story).

Nevertheless, I appreciate you fixing my little error there, and with your review I can learn from this and (hopefully) improve my projects in the future. Though some of the story could be read through interpretation, some of it is symbolism, but I agree, this whole thing was pretty slow and rough.

…And the worst part is, I’m planning to write a creepypasta…this cannot end well. XD Nah, I’m kidding, but I might do it…

Thank you so much! I will take your constructive criticism seriously, but for the moment, I have no time. ^.^” Homework, tests, and studies need to be taken first. (Though I usually do it at midnight, I need to get it done today because I’m not going to school tomorrow and I have got a lot of work to do…) Thank you again for your constructive criticism and patients!

… Wow. Thanks for taking the time to review my story with such… Intensity? That probably sounds sarcastic but I mean it. :) It means a lot to me that you took so much time out of your day to write all that. I don’t really get good, constructive reviews and I’m not creeped out or scared by most things so these were all written haphazardly.
It was all kinda ‘well, I’ll try it’. I have never written a horror story before and wanted to do 5 so it was rather forced and I did all the editing myself so I anticipated a lower quality. (that was probably a run-on, yeesh)

I cringed at my own usage of ‘it’s coming for me’ but wanted to leave it in as ‘the journal’ way of writing left it hard to explain what happened. As far as arbok goes, from it’s pokedex entry saying that it ‘never gives up the chase’ it became a symbol of death and the inevitable. You’re right, though. The forest part was good on it’s own.
I was trying to step outside my box… I think perhaps sticking to what I am good at is the best idea. ;) There were definitely things to improve on, though
I think it was a great challenge for me- though perhaps not one worthy of fan fiction after Halloween. :P Better luck next year for me.

And… Oh holy smokes you reviewed all of them…

Okay, so ‘What Was Lost’:
It was an… Introductory paragraph. Like a dying message from someone who has paid the ultimate price for their selfishness. Again, I was merely toying with ideas. As far as the doll, I wouldn’t touch a doll like that and it is also reasonable that someone would think that the doll belonged to the person buried there.

King of Infinity:
Well… Never worn burlap so I guess I wouldn’t know. I saw him as a more tribal style warrior in my head- I understand if that didn’t quite make it to the page. Poultry vs Paltry- Well… Son of bitch. That one I have no excuse for. I know better than that, but sometimes the wrong thing ends up on the page. When I read the things I write, I often see what I meant to write and not what I actually wrote.

Low Expectations:
This is perhaps the only time I disagree with you. I understand that kids drown but no one knew he was by the pond to begin with. They wouldn’t know to look there and in a city, would assume the worst. When the second child goes missing in a similar fashion, you don’t immediately think ‘oh, serial drowning’ you’re going to think ‘serial kidnapper/killer’. When the mom from the first boy (who would be grieving immensely) starts raving (half dead and freezing) that she sees ‘faces in the water’ most people are going to say that she’s delusional from grief and her state of health. As far as Looker’s death goes, that was pretty much a mistake on my part- though in perspective of the other disappearances, I can cover that up with ‘oh, you know, those darn kidnappers.’ … Just kidding.

I know that you wouldn’t capitalize the names of pokemon and I often go with those rules, however, I like the way the capital separates the name of the pokemon. It’s always capitalized in the game and I rather prefer it that way. I have a tendency to capitalize ‘professor’ too for the same reason, though that I typically correct that (when/if I see it.)
And the eyeball, that magikarp did not sit around with an eyeball in it’s stomach (that IS ridiculous) as it swam around. It was caught for research soon enough after that it was still there.

Whew- alright. Again, thank you very much for the reviews! I really appreciate them all! Sorry if my response seems very ‘eeh, it’s fine’ because I can tell that you’re a very serious reader/editor/writer. While I admire your dedication and that of others like you. Unfortunately I am not like that and, mostly, I just like writing for fun and whoever enjoys it, enjoys it. :) So I hope that you at least enjoyed reading!
*Forgive any typos; it’s late and I am tired.

Okay! I thank you for your critic, and I’m sorry my story disappointed you. I hope I can win you over next time. Take care!

Electric guy | Really!?
I was sort of hoping you could tell me what you thought of my actual story, not sit there and criticize me on every last little thing that doesn’t fit your bill. Quite frankly, I choose to capitalize the word Pokemon, and their names, because if you look out there, there aren’t many fics that don’t. Also, why bother even reviewing when you didn’t like it? Why not just leave? You know how sometimes, you’re bored and you doodle? This was like a doodle in the form of a story. It’s not perfect. Nothing is.

And bonus Homestuck fun!

A response to your review at http://www.fanfiction.net/r/8637291/

The characters in the story ARE the homestuck kids, in case you haven’t realized.

Or that you haven’t read far enough to be able to tell.

I don’t believe you understand my point. If you write OCs and give them the character’s names, saying they’re the Homestuck characters doesn’t change the fact they don’t have anything to do with Homestuck.

They are NOT OCs, let me make that point clear.

You are completely missing the point of my story. This is a horror AU. You could at least finish reading the later chapters before commenting.

The fact you admit that I couldn’t even tell they’re the same characters from the initial chapters proves my point. The only point of reading fanfic is that it’s about characters or a setting I’m already interested in. An AU with new people is original fiction, no matter how loudly you shout they’re the same people and demand I keep reading something boring.

That is exactly the point of an AU. An AU provides a new twist on the characters, keeping their personalities and perhaps some defining traits (like appearance, or signature colour) the same, but with different environments and other modifications that come with the environments.

You should at least give it some thought before shouting at ME about how DIFFERENT my characters are. That is the point of an AU. For example, Dave possesses traits of albinism in canon, having blond hair and red eyes. Albinism causes loss of pigmentation, especially in the eyes, which in some cases will cause blindness. The AU I am writing is a medical horror AU, and I do know my facts. The AU characters will have different traits, but they have the same personality. The conversations between Rose and Dirk are a fact. I have also incorporated ships that are widely viewed as canon.

By challenging my writing, you are also challenging my interpretation of characters AU-wise. Canon may be canon, but not all fanfics have to be strictly adhering to canon.

By challenging my AU interpretation, you are also challenging a sizeable number of RP blogs, artists and writers.

Check your privilege.

My writing style, especially for horror stories, is to only reveal the true identities of the characters at a later time. That is to create mystery. Therefore, it is perfectly legitimate.

I have also taken a glance at your own stories. Your newly updated Homestuck fic has nothing to do with Homestuck either, given your interpretation of mine.

As to why you are commenting on my story, which has more to do with Homestuck than yours, remains a mystery to me.

[keeping their personalities]

Bingo. If they’re unrecognizable, then you’ve failed.

[Your newly updated Homestuck fic has nothing to do with Homestuck either, given your interpretation of mine.]

Did you miss where I very clearly said “setting”? I’m also interested in hearing more about how Jack Noir was so OOC he was unrecognizable save for his name. My fanfic would get me slapped with a C&D order if I tried publishing it as original.

[Bingo. If they’re unrecognizable, then you’ve failed.]

Like I’ve said before, my writing style, especially for horror stories, is to only reveal the true identities of the characters at a later time. That is to create mystery. Therefore, it is perfectly legitimate, as the story has not progressed enough to reveal them all.

You missed that point. This is my own writing style, and you do not have the power to use my style as your point. This is my own writing style, and you do not have the power to use my style as your point.

[Did you miss where I very clearly said “setting”?]

Did you miss where you said very clearly ‘characters’?

If you’re not interested in the Homestuck kids, then fine.

Also, your story has received a sizeable portion of negative reviews. Though they were about your writing style, which I can understand, I would like to also point out that your first chapter was like mine, in the sense that it was also vague.

If you need to reveal their identities, then they’re unrecognizable. Do you understand what the word means there? If I can’t tell who they’re supposed to be without you deliberately telling me halfway through the story, they are OCs.

[Did you miss where you said very clearly ‘characters’?]

OR does not mean AND. What the ** is wrong with you, this is so far beyond grasping at straws now.

Well then, that is merely your interpretation. As a fellow writer, you do not have the right to judge my writing style. Then, deal with it.

And here’s my turn to ask what the ** is wrong with YOU. It does appear to ME that YOU are ALSO grasping at straws. I had to straighten out several easy concepts for you, and you still choose to misinterpret them

You are trying to force-fit your interpretation of AUs and other concepts on to me. We will just have to agree to disagree on their interpretations.

If you are able, I request that you remove your review. It is extremely offensive.

Oh my god. Homestuck, I take back everything mean I said, you guys are way more hilarious than pokeauthors could ever be.

Bask in this while you can, I probably won’t be responding to PMs during the review month proper and that seems to be necessary for the really gold bits.

Yeeeeeah, about that.
I should probably mention that I am wholly ashamed of the first few chapters (Man, I wrote those WAY back. actually no, there is no excuse. They are shit. I was thinking of re-uploading after I do a full out smash edit.) and Im working on the beta reading problem as we speak… Depending on whether or not I man up enough to actually ASK someone.
But thank you for complaining! (no seriously, I need to pull my finger out and actually get the next chapter done.)
