Well, that’s a milestone.
So, how are things at the moment? What suggestions do you have, what things would you like to change, what have you found most/least interesting, etc etc?
Also, another poll on the subject of which series people have read though.
I am eagerly anticipating NaRe! It’s been far too long since you’ve done carapace reviews.
I’ve missed it! Since it doesn’t look like I’ll be done with the game anytime soon I guess it’ll be some hellish mix of review/play game/review for the month, thus bringing NaRe in line with the stressful misery of NaNo proper.
Though I like your reviews, I’m a bit saddened by how your story-writing seems to have fallen by the wayside. Maybe after Pokemon X you could take some time off to continue your stories?
Well I’m signed up to produce at least one thing for the Homestuck exchange, and aiming to do three total to get my numbers pretty, so I’ll be writing something, at least. And might actually be continuing my other stories because everyone knows trying to write something makes you only able to write other things.
Well in recent business I’ve greatly enjoyed your Halloween reviews so far. I’ll admit Pokemon doesn’t do much for me (which is ironic since I was super fan when I was little) but too each their own.
You’re YA read troughs are a joy (though some of the worse books are hard to stomach even for mockery) and I’m looking forward to whatever trend milking dystopian, passive female view point using kind of offensive if you think about trash you find next.
The WWZ and comics are a black cesspool where goodness goes to die stuff? I should have more of that kind of thing upcoming, though perhaps not for a bit.
I’m gonna keep voting for Elantris!
That is definitely happening at some point. I may monkey with the poll – the fact it’s not a epic series but a book I can do and be done with is a huge plus to me.
I would like to see more of your game reviews. They provide an interesting contrast to the usual content since you actually praised some of them.
I would also like more urban fantasy. There are almost always many worlbuilding fails in this genre which would be interesting to discuss.
By the way, would you consider reviewing Harry Potter now that the source you recommended seems to be dead? I’ve stumbled over a review of the first book and suddenly realized that I have things to say about Deus ex Machinas Rowling keeps using in conflict resolutions.
Either way, I wish your hatred to prosper. Your suffering pleases me no matter what ungodly thing causes it at the moment.
Well, a good chunk of the game reviews aren’t me! If those satisfy you I can get them by badgering. We may also be spending Christmas month on a game.
If Dresden Files counts as urban fantasy then I promise I’ll be doing that when I’ve culled the current ongoing series a bit. Otherwise, suggest!
Harry Potter is one giant clusterfuck and my head hurts just imagining keeping the list of problems straight. If she doesn’t continue it maybe I’ll just put up a post for people to wander by and rant about whatever thing they just realized is stupid.
I’ll get back to HP one day, I swear. Probably after I finish FIOS.
So, never.
F/SN is fuckhuge by itself, and if you don’t lose interest in it, there is Fate/Zero, Fate/Hollow Atraxia, Fate/Apocryphia, Fate/Extra, Fate/something I don’t remember…
And then there are other works of Nasu.
They are also typically better than HP despite having some problems like the exposition in the middle of action, so…
I’m about halfway through FIOS and am working on the next post. I don’t intend to do every expansion to te F/SN universe ever created (unless, I guess, people want to see it).
Games and books are different to me. Games are much easier to get through and much less infuriating. So really we’re talking two separate timelines: FIOS then HP, and F/SN, then all the other VNs on my list and possibly sequels.
If the consensus is that people really want me to buckle down on the book stuff, I’ll certainly make it a priority. I have the next few weeks of FSN posts done, so it’s possible. Perhaps I’ll make a post about it.
Oh, sorry, mistook one abbreviation for another.
And in case I was sounding offensive, I apologize. I don’t really mind your pace or the subject you choose.
After all, as I understand it, you and Farla write your analysis because you enjoy it, so it would be rude of me to demand you write about one thing and not another, or write more often.
I would like to talk about HP more because there are many, many problems in this books, and some of them are actually interesting.
Take Hermione, for example. She is shunned by her peers for being a bookworm, and such behavior has some basis in reality, but wouldn’t social dynamic be different in a world where knowledge directly translates into power?
Haha, no! It’s a totally fair criticism. I rather notoriously lack Farla’s initiative in both writing and reviewing. I just wanted to point out that the game reviews and book reviews are pretty separate, so fortunately whether or not I spend the rest of my life on Nasu won’t really affect the HP reviews.
I definitely want to get back to HP for exactly those reasons. I already did one rant about Hermione, but she is by far my least favorite character for rather personal reasons and she’s treated like shit at least through book four. I think if I can wrap up FIOS in the next month or so I can dedicate my book-reviewing time to HP as I should.
