n the new games it says ‘a wild Patrat appeared’ and that’s an animal, also
the long thing you said I couldn’t undestand because you said Hi over 20 times
for no reason… Also I never switched character parts. You said I should
write this, here’s an example:
‘”Hi” I laughed.
“Hi” He screamed back.
“How are you?” I murmured.
“Good.” He wispered.
“Bye” I cried.
“Bye” He rambled.’
That doesn’t seem right… What kind of Writer are you? That’s one weird way
to talk…

Okay, so I’m thinking about what you said, and decided that you’re right-I
could use some edits on Rising Shadows, so I’m removing it and re-uploading
when the thing gets edited. Thanks for helping out a rookie on the site.

This review was very helpful, though I can’t quite agree with every point. I
hope you understand that I will take what I will from this review, to better
my writing. As extensive as this review was, much of it seems to be expecting
an aggrivated response. I don’t know/care if this is simply how you deliver
your reviews, though you should note that neither myself nor anyone else on
this website made an account believing they were perfect. If you’re going to
critique, you may recieve a more positive response if you put some form of
positives or a kind of encouragement to improve instead of posting reviews
that demote any kind of progress.
If I hadn’t taken a moment to carefully read through all of your points and
compare them to my story, I may very well have just responded with a plethora
of angry messages and stopped writing.
Regardless, I suppose I might as well thank you for your review. Happy
writing…

First of all, thank you so much for your thought out review. I really like it
when people take the time to criticize it :D
Unfortunately, I know nothing of verbs and nouns and such. It’s something that
I was never able to understand, no matter how many books I read or how often I
wrote. When you mention a speech verb, I have no idea what you’re talking
about. It’s a bit ridiculous, I know. I am currently trying to educate myself
in that area with great difficulty.
Now, as for canonical inconsistencies… I’m afraid you might have opened this
fic under the assumption that it was written strictly according to what is
considered canon. I don’t usually write that way. Yes, I’m aware of the fact
that gardevoir are powerhouses of their own, and that they can be both male
and female, and so forth; I simply choose to tinker with or ignore such
details in order to create a universe of my own. I understand that this might
not be to your liking, but if I don’t write for my own enjoyment, then there’s
no point in posting my stories.
As for your paragraph on dialogue, it was a bit confusing to me – is there any
way that you could make it easier to understand?
Thank you so much for your review. It means much more to me when someone takes
the time to point out all of the problems rather than simply saying “Good
job!”

No, I just opened it on the assumption it wasn’t going to be a sexist piece of shit.

1st off, thanks for the advice, I do fail at dialogue, still workin on it. XP
2nd, Pokemon do/does have capitals. Imagine it like this, in the game, some
Pokemon are harder to find in the game, like Celebi, so it kinda gets a name.
The common Pokemon should have names too, as some common Pokemon don’t appear
in some areas. Also, exactly WHY do dialogues have to be like “Hello,” instead
of “Hello.”? The character is finishing a sentence, so they should really use
“Hello,” if they’re not finished with their sentence. But anyways, thanks
much! I’ll be sure to save this as a note while making stories! Keep up the
good work!

Thanks for the tips, I’ll definitely be using these as I continue the story.
I’m still a beginner writer so it will take time to improve, but hopefully it
will get better over time. Thanks again!

Thanks a lot for the review. I’ll try to make less mistakes next time,
unfortunately I’m already 5 pages in for the 3rd chapter but from there on
I’ll make sure to leave less mistakes. I don’t have a beta reader, probably
because I’m so new to this site and when I first heard of it I got the wrong
idea. I’ll look into it.
Thanks again.

Subject: your reviews
I’m just not really good at english and I never have been really. I just want
reviews on how the story is on the basis on the imaganitive side of it. And
there are people on this site that have FAR worse punctuation and spelling
mistakes. I write this stuff on Open Office, not Word so it doesn’t tell me if
I’ve made a punctuation mistake.
I know your just trying to help me as a Beta Reader. I thank you for it. But
this is really the best I can do. If you’re just reading my stories to correct
them, please don’t waste your time. I’m a lost cause.
But thanks for trying to help and I’m sorry if I offended you. I really didn’t
mean to.
Sincerely MewLover54. :)

Perhaps you did not recieve my last message. Understandable, as right now my
internet is acting haywire so I can no longer tell who is getting what.
I am well aware of all the things you pointed out, however it was only
recently that I was aware of these rules. Keep on mind that chapter sixteen
was still written almost one and a half years ago, when I did not know about
this.
I am simply uploading all the chapters from dA, I cannot go back and correct
every single one as there are far too many and I have my classes as well as
curent goals. Perhaps you will be pleased however, that I did update the first
chapter with these rules, as chapter one is an exception.

Oh, and one last thing, I’m actually not quite sure whether one captitalizes
Pokemon or not. My reason is this: I have had several other authors review my
stories at one point or another and it’s clear to me that they don’t either.
Some say one does, so e say one doesn’t. You belong to the latter catagory,
and it’s about equal on both sides so I just picked the former because
technically Pokemon is a species like Homo Sapien, and I come from a
scientific background.

-_-
you’ve never played any of the Mystery Dungeon games, have you?
——————–
This for a review entirely about technical errors.
“What kind of Writer are you?”
Fail.
I be Shauntal calls herself a Writer. -_-
In fairness, they are kind of right. I’m not a Writer.
“if I don’t write for my own enjoyment, then there’s
no point in posting my stories.”
Something about this reasoning really bothers me. It makes it all about the author so they don’t have to care about what anyone else thinks, they can just heap whatever crap they want on people without bothering to improve, on the basis of “well it’s good to ME therefore that’s all that matters”. It’s such selfish thinking…
It bothers *me* because it is actually the exact opposite of the thing that makes sense. “If I don’t write for my own enjoyment, there’s no point in writing fanfic” is a reasonable enough position, but if you don’t in part also write for *other* people’s enjoyment, *that’s* when there’s no point in posting your stories.
“technically Pokemon is a species like Homo Sapien”
Will people ever stop using this horrible reasoning? Why is FFN filled with people who flunked out of basic biology?
“I have a science background” must mean “I got better grades in science than English in primary school.”
