Ha! You thought to trick me and let Bill get me through this song, but I know better! I’ve already listened to it, so he’s got to me before you can trick me!

    …Wait.

    Anyway, have another one:

Not as original, unfortunately, and weirdly quiet, but worth checking.

      Someone with class

It amuses me that everyone thought Bill was a super classy chessmaster type only for Weirdmageddon to reveal that he’s actually a total frat boy.

      1. illhousen says:

You mean, class goes beyond top hat?

      2. bay says:

        “Total frat boy”

        Haha true.

I was watching that show with my cousin a while back, but we stopped somewhere in the second season, I think. I really like it, but I just haven’t found the willpower to pirate it.

But what about Over the Garden Wall?

    1. Farla says:

It’s awesome but has less fan stuff.

So I’m not the only one who was struck by the female voice coupled with some of the language used in the song, right? “Side with me, kid” “What say you, little pal, have we got a deal” Really the whole faux-chummy, deal-with-the-devil, used car salesman vibe, I don’t think it’s something I’ve ever seen in a female character? I mean, there’s the seductress-type villains, but a charismatic villain without any physical attractiveness tied to that, like the fast-talking smooth-talker types, that’s been pretty much a male-exclusive thing, hasn’t it? At least as far as I can recall from all my years of media consumption.

…So yeah, I’m imagining this as being sung by a female character (who manifests as a disc instead of a triangle*) and it is very YES.

    * related tangent: you know what I love? Non-human female/female-coded chars who don’t, um… how should I put it… aren’t made to look female? Or at least not in an obvious way. e.g. Tigress from Kung Fu Panda, 7 from 9, big-ass walking suits of armor, complete non-humanoids, abstract shapes, etc etc.

    1. Farla says:

Genderflipping characters can result in some cool things! There’s another cover that’s got a more Bill-like voice but I really prefer hers. (And who’d even suspect it? Everyone knows that the only sinister manipulative female characters are those doing it with their boobs, so this must be a totally good idea.)

And yeah, it’s always cool when there’s a character design for female characters that doesn’t resort to “human with minor changes”. There’s so many possible options and we usually only get the same tiny slice.
