Thank you you for your advice, I’m really grateful for it. I’m definitely gonna change some of the mistakes I made. Sorry but I forgot to tell everybody English isn’t my real language, By the way what do you think of the story itself?
[Sorry but I forgot to tell everybody English isn’t my real language]
Why have you chosen to write in it, then?
Just want to try it I guess… Besides I really love English as a school lesson.
James Dean y2kOk, fair enough. I could work on all of that, but as for the promoting my other stories, if I knew how to do that, I would. But I don’t, so would you kindly tell me how to do those things please?
(For future reference, you should respond to reviews using the dialogue bubble icon in the top-right corner. This automatically provides a link to the review, so I know what you’re referencing.)
I’m not entirely sure what you mean? I don’t recall saying anything about promoting stories.
The polls? I don’t know how to do that, so would you mind showing me how?
It’s under “Polls”, on the left sidebar of your account menu.
Okay then! Thanks! You have received a message from:

But you’ve also made enemies

They finally blocked me, so I don’t know what this is about.

Thank you for your critique! I remember worrying about whether or not I should capitalize, but this makes it clear. I will be sure to fix it. The use of
…
…
is meant to show awkward silence in that scene, like one might see in a visual novel. I had been rereading some, so I guess it just seemed natural to me.
As for the horizontal lines to show scene breaks…the original way I was separating these was with a break of five centered tidles (I only have a chromebook, so I use Google Docs). Unfortunately I couldn’t get those to show up properly when transferring my work here. A clear sign of my inexperience, haha. Do you have any recommendations on what I should do?
Sincerely,
PlumTea

Ah. See, the reason visual novels do that is because they have more limited ways of conveying such things. In prose, you have the ability to describe the scene, so you can just say there was a silence and it was awkward.
I’m afraid I can’t help you on the tildes thing. FFN is garbage and makes certain symbols disappear, especially if there are multiple in a row. If you want to do fancier formatting, Archive of Our Own is more permissive.

Pokemon are written with Capitals, look up Bulbapedia Pokemon species are written that way. Plus that’s her name, so it would make less sense for her to be written as smeargle.
https://www.fanfiction.net/topic/11834/55376155/1/Capitalization-Threadis Smeargle.
Hence why the capitalization of Smeargle.
[A male human x female Pokemon story][to his left he saw the Smeargle smiling at him]
Also, her name being “Smeargle” is as nonsensical as you being named “Human”.
Then why did you respond in the first place?
But a response that makes it clear you didn’t bother actually reading my comment followed by saying you don’t care what I have to say anyway, that’s the height of propriety? If you’re not interested in arguing in good faith, it’s far more polite not to waste my time.
Then tell me that from the start instead of making a stupid non-argument.A response to your review at https://www.fanfiction.net/r/12801861/
Thanks for the criticism.
However, this was just something I chose to write because I wanted to just put some of my own personal feelings down on paper, it wasn’t meant to be the exact post-canon everyone is in character story you seem to think it should be. This was my first Pokemon fic too, and it’s been a while since I actually played the game… I didn’t do any prior research or anything like that because it was only intended as a one shot, like I said to get some things off of my chest.
I also only really write fanfic when I can, and have no experience writing stories or novels or anything like that, so the way I write is just… the way I write I guess, even if it isn’t grammatically correct.
I appreciate the review, and I understand why you might not be into this. Thanks.

It’s great to use writing to explore your feelings! However, if a canon character isn’t effective at conveying those feelings, it’s a good idea to make an OC instead. Especially as you say you’re not very familiar with Pokemon, a completely original piece might be a better option. Thank you so much for your review! And sorry for the late response.
I have corrected all the things you pointed out and I completely agree with your argument, it was a fault on my part.
I’m still a beginner so I really like such reviews. Hope you like and review my writings in future too!

I know “Please do not try to talk to me through reviews. It’s a very inefficient way to discuss things, and clutters up the review section. Please contact me through PM instead.” You said that. But I’ll show that sentence as much interest as you showed my overall story. Also, if it was a problem, it would do good for this site to not have option to respond via reviews.
First of all, I do realize you have many good points and I agree with most of your critique. Particularly about capitalization of names. I’ll keep that in mind, thank you very much. I also appreciate you pointing out all the other mistakes. I don’t have problem with that. I do have problem with your attitude. First of all, I’m not a native English speaker and I’m still learning. I’ll be learning for the rest of my life. Second, neither of my beta readers (I have two) are native English speakers as well. So you would do well to consider for a second to not suggesting me to proofread or get beta readers in such condesending way. Imagine you don’t know the person you’re talking to.
My other problem is that you haven’t said anything about story, at all. None. Zero. While I appreciate the critique, since it allows me to improve, you utterly ignored the story in that, well, story instead going grammar nazi mode. That makes you look like jerkass.

What? I think you misunderstood what I was talking about. People sometimes try to talk to me by literally making reviews in the review section of the story responding to mine. Talking via review-response PM is fine.
[First of all, I’m not a native English speaker and I’m still learning.]
That’s not an excuse. There was nothing stopping you from writing in your native language. This was your choice and it is fair to judge you accordingly.

Reviewers do not owe you anything. I didn’t have any feelings on the story one way or another. If that’s not what you wanted or expected out of a review, too bad. Deal with it. Not every review is going to be ideal or even useful at all. Take what you can from them and move on.
Actually, a lot of people appreciate my fanfiction reviews. Don’t assume you speak for everyone.

Thanks for all of the help. I will get to fixing my mistakes. But first I have to move my stories to AO3, since I was told that FanFiction doesn’t accept lemons.
