I would give you a quote but it really has to be seen in context.

Thank you for the review and being nice while pointing out my faults. I really did think that what I put down could be counted as a prologue but if not, how is a prologue supposed to look? Also, with the capitalization, I honestly didn’t know that i wasn’t supposed to capitalize pokemon. I thought that I was supposed to, since Microsoft Word kept on telling me to capitalize, so thanks for letting me know about this. Anyway, thanks again for the review and your polite, but helpful, review! |

well thanks for going into detail on what I’m screwing up. Most people tell me I’ve got bad grammar and leave it at that; though it is a bit daunting to suddenly receive a wall of 101 corrections (I’m still unsure how to write that in text, and I’m not looking forward to a battle with a Grammar Nazi) I’ll be sure to take note of everything you’ve mentioned. Usually my Grammatical mistakes are born of ignorance of these little esoteric titbits and no one bothers to explain exactly what I did wrong, and as such i thank you for that. again I’ll restate that writing this was a heat of the moment decision, and as such is more of a recreational exercise, though I guess it wouldn’t hurt to improve upon my grammar. i will freely admit that this is not my best chapter, nor has it had a huge amount of passion poured into it. thanks again for all your help, I’ll be sure to take you advice to heart. coincidentally, is there anything notably good that you would like to comment on about the fic so far? |
| Lunasca | thanks |
|
Everyone has their own way of writing and I prefer captalising the names of Pokemon like Pikachu and Charizard, it keeps me in the right. I am still learning when it comes to writing and this isn’t supposed to be a series fic, it is more to get me back into wirting and to get idea’s to flow. I thank you for your help farla, and characerization has never been my strongest points. I shall attempt to do better |

| Woodtea | re: Your review to Your Pokémon Adventure Awaits! |

Hello, thanks for the criticism, but I feel the need to explain and defend some of my choices. Firstly, in the Pokémon games themselves are their names not capitalised? I’m used to seeing them written with capital letters. The same applies for their moves. Also, the first section of the game is really slow paced and boring because it’s setting the scene, I have to set the scene too. I’m not sticking directly to the plot so I have to explain it. Same goes for clothing really. I can’t show anyone a picture so I have to describe it. Secondly, I hate the idea of mixing the real world into the Pokémon world, that’s why I used ‘butterfreed’ instead of ‘butterflied’. It seems more natural to me that way. I don’t want to blur the lines here, mentioning real animals would just be really awkward. Finally, regarding Rosa. We don’t hear her voice at all in the games so I’m trying to give her one. Her character is going to develop and change as she progresses through the plot. Thank you, |

you give bad reviews for fun.

Thank you for your review, helpful reviews such as yours are the reason why I actually posted on this site in the first place rather that the kind which go along the lines of “oooh loved it. I may not actually get around to editing my story, but don’t think that I’ve completely disregarded your advice. Some of the mistakes that you brought up (the use of its instead of it’s, and daddy instead of Daddy ones) are my own silly fault for not editing it properly. In regards to the point you made about capitalisation for pokemon names I concede to your point. And finally in regards to the use of semicolons, I actually had the same thought myself, however at the last minute I changed it back. It seems I have gotten myself in a rut courtesy of my university’s strict policies on correct use of punctuation. And, after having re-read the story, I understand what you mean regarding the lack of focus in the plot. My only request is that you do not post your review on your blog, but I will understand if you disregard this request. Many thanks, The-Ultimate-Fudge |

An honest, if somewhat scathing review. I appreciate the feedback. That first chapter quite possibly deserves a rewrite… I know how to dig in and develop characters once the ball has started rolling, but I will admit that my ability in writing action can be somewhat lacking. The last fiction I wrote, I had a much better idea of how to start the story off, so it wasn’t quite as shaky as this one. I’ll be perfectly honest and say that I was kinda scrounging for a plot to get me started. Thanks very much for the words of advice, I will see what I can’t fix. My apologies if it ended up being sort of misogynistic or the like. |

Ikey is still moderately normal because he was pretty much ignored other than being tested on. Also, for being able to defeat pokemon easily, I wanted this to take a bit after the game. For me, this is how it went: Easy up until maybe the 6th gym, then suddenly the wild pokemon and battles become much more difficult. I also found the gangsters on that route quite easy to deal with, having a one hit knockout on most of their pokemon. Thanks for the review, I will try to include these tips in later chapters. |

The ice typing shows that TR tried to make him stronger by changing his type, but this prevents him from evolving. He can learn new moves, but in the end, is weaker than he could be. This creates a little joke since TR attempted to make him stronger but in the end he got weaker. I’ll add more onto the main plot once they reach Saffron. I sorta wanted to fast forward the story to there. |
| bigwilly7 | re: Your review to Revenge or Justice? |

You seem to be a very good writer. It’s not often a writer gets a review this detailed. I know where your coming from with the capitalisation but I feel that a Pokemon is more than just a common animal and as such, needs a capital. However, I will take it into consideration. I don’t write my characters as on the side of angels. I’ve created them to mimic real life schoolboys and being one myself, I know that not everyone is perfect and that language such as ‘faggot’ is common in the schoolyard. I can’t be projecting my main character as one who is absolutely perfect and has no flaws whatsoever. I’ll definately put in an explanation about the lack of battling for Will, I don’t know how I missed that, thankyou, Finally, in my story I try to take the game mechanics and apply them in real life situations. I’ll change the wording of that part and I understand where your coming from but applying things like Effort Values and Levels into a real life situation is like a challenge to me so I’ll continue doing it, albeit a bit smoother and more natural. Thankyou for taking the time to write this, you make some very good points. ~bigwilly |

1. Capitalizing Pokemon is personal preference and correct in either case. I follow game mechanics, where the species of Pokemon are capitalized (e.g: Wild Patrat appeared!), but your mileage may vary. 2. Overuse of adverbs does not enhance a sentence either. Your use of “sparingly” and “judiciously” is redundant as the two are practically synonyms. According to the Oxford English Dictionary (which is the preferred source of academics and scholars, not Merriam-Webster Collegiate): Sparingly, adv. 1. 2. a. In a restricted or limited manner; very moderately, scantily, slightly. Judiciously, adv. 1. In a judicious manner; with sound or correct judgement; discreetly, wisely, prudently. While the two definitions seem to be dissimilar, it is generally frowned upon to use them one right after the other, not withstanding that using two adverbs in the same sentence is not prudent as it displays a lack of content. Back on the topic of semicolons, while you are right about them sounding overly pretentious in excess quantities, they are not, as Kurt Vonnegut called them, “transvestite hermaphrodites representing absolutely nothing.” When used properly, they add emphasis to a work by tacking on that last stray thought before trailing off into incoherency. As long as they are stylistically and grammatically correct without seeming utilized for the sake of utilization, then there is no problem. For example: “Your vagina is a sandy, unwashed den of filth, containing the bones of lost trainers plus a gerbil or two; fucking yourself with bleach may be beneficial in cleansing it.” Cheers! :) |
Well, I give the last one credit for firing off the most creative insult I’ve seen in a long while.
Unfortunately, it’s not as amusing as calling someone a motherfucking dickface. …If only because it led me to believe which end you apparently used to fuck that kid’s mother.
*wonder, not believe
“Motherfucking dickface” leads me to believe that kid thinks you fucked his mother. Or at least interpreting his comment that way makes it far more amusing than it would have been otherwise.
Eh, it’s really just a couple standard insults rolled together that amount to “you’re irritable because of your vagina and also you’re disgusting used goods”. As you say, motherfucking dickface is superior.
Oh, true, but I’ve unfortunately been exposing myself to people who just say “you’re mean” and “you’re offensive.” You’re lucky you get people who insinuate fun things about your vagina as if they actually want to know or have had experience with it. :(
…Actually, yeah, now that it’s out there, I guess that guy just said fantastic things concerning himself because the only way he could’ve known anything about your vagina is if he stuck his dick in it at some point (or if he has otherwise seen you naked). If he thinks so lowly about your lady bits but still fucked you or watched you undress outside your window or something, this clearly says a lot about his standards and level of desperation.
Wow. This game is actually a lot of fun.
A charmer like this? I can’t believe he’d be desperate or have low standards, he must be beating the ladies off with a stick.
Wow, that last one didn’t like you calling him out on his rapey story, eh?
Oh it just gets better with the response.
