“I figured this would better suit my character’s situation as being sucked into his video game is something that could happen but almost never would under most circumstances.”

I usually don’t write back to reviews that people give me very often, but I felt I needed to for this one.
First off, thank you! I really appreciate that you took the time to write a review of my story. A review that actually pointed out the many flaws in my own personal knowledge and grammar. I rarely get reviews that offer constructive criticism and I simply felt the need to write back to you personally.
Now onto the errors you pointed out.
I never had any personal experience with any Pokemon game dating back before the Hoenn as I only started getting into the Pokemon franchise when Emerald Version was released. Because it and every game after it featured unlocked contents after the completion of the game, I simply assumed it was like this for all versions, a foolish mistake on my part.
I’d been meaning to go back and change the Probability Theory bit. I was ill-informed by a friend when I had included it. I instead am fixing the sentence to use Murphy’s Law instead. It states that ‘Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.’ Some version include ‘at the worse possible moment’ as well and I figured this would better suit my character’s situation as being sucked into his video game is something that could happen but almost never would under most circumstances.
As for the vague description of his actual character, I wanted him to appear to be commonplace and a bit annoying like the stereotypical person one would expect to end up in such a situation. But, as you said, I didn’t say much about him and you’ve been left a general impression of him based off this prologue alone. Hopefully, the next few chapters will rectify this and flush out his character more.

I figured the silly sexism was something a nine-year-old would have, considering typical children are still in the ‘cooties’ stage at this age. As for proofreading, I’ll have a friend reproof my chapters from now on. I didn’t catch that humongous mesh of letters that should have been two words. And relating to the slot exchange, I was using information from the games. A random bystander in Goldenrod said that the Pokemon from the slot exchange were tougher than if they were found in the wild, so that’s what I used as a basis. Thanks for the criticism! It’s much appreciated and definitely more insightful than what I usually get on this site. |

In regards to the boy’s disdain over a Magikarp, I’m revealing his ignorance of the world. He’s ten at the time. Why must he know what Magikarp evolve into? His parents are obviously protective as they have him a weak starter and prevented it from evolving. There is an Everstone attached to its tail. As for the money issues, I imagine that in the pokemon world, Magikarp can be bought off people for cheap prices. It would also remove the hassle of the parents catching a pokemon. I’m also going to clarify more on the whole situation later. The statement about bonding with the Magikarp was more of a casual comment. It wasn’t supposed to be taken so literally. Parents say things to keep their children occupied. After all of this, I have concluded that you are nothing more than a nitpicking critic. I happen to have a follower who enjoys the story for what it is. I do applaud you for helping some of the less experienced writers on here, but don’t be so harsh and specific over things that aren’t really issues. Thanks for the rant and good day to you. |
