Pokeauthors Part 20

“Because I have a habit of capitalizing words I shouldn’t, outside of typing and in. I will keep doing it, because I don’t have the mental capacity to fix it myself.”

And I agree. I’m still very far from being an exceptional writer. However, I do feel fine with capitlizing Eon since that is the classification for Latios. Both Latias and Latios are classified simply as “Eon Pokémon”. Thank you for taking time to post some constructive criticism. I always feel like people are afraid of hurting the author’s feelings by posting criticism and it bugs me. Again, thank you for your time.

(I will admit that the thingd you pointed out are things I have difficulty with. I plan on taking some writing classes in college once I graduate)

Thank you
20h agoThisoneworksbetterthantwoThank you so much for the tips! This is my very first shot at completely creative writing. I feel like I have avoid grasp of grammar but once I try to make a plot, I begin to ignore it. I really appreciate the advice! Please stay tuned for later chapters, I will try to improve.

Because I have a habit of capitalizing words I shouldn’t, outside of typing and in. I will keep doing it, because I don’t have the mental capacity to fix it myself.

Yes, I do believe having limited vision in the Pokémon world is more dangerous than both. What if you couldn’t see to your left at all? An attack from the left would kill him very easily, I imagine. Especially since Delia is the ‘Protective mum’ of Ash, because she doesn’t have her husband anymore and is afraid of losing him too. I do thank you with the advice on speech, although I will continue to put quotation marks on thought messages, as that helps the reader distinguish the character taking from the ‘Narrator’.

Honestly, if I were to make an OC Story, I need to be a little more advanced in writing. I just wouldn’t know how to make a OC Main character react to situations accordingly. I just need more experience. Oh, and Pikachu being there isn’t so much of a coincidence. Maybe I will explain it in the AN for everyone else to read, but I assumed that since Oak never found a trainer for the Pikachu, he released it into the wild. Hence, Ash finding it near Pallet.

I suppose I could have went more into detail about Ash acquiring said Pokéball. Actually, I already have an idea for it. Maybe I will fix it up a bit before sending the next chapter out. I am trying to make this story more realistic than the Anime. For example, Misty gives Ash her bike, seeing as he was in trouble. In the Anime, she berated Ash for trying to steal it. Ash actually took the Spearow beating instead of letting Pikachu attack them. All in all, I will make this story a little darker and more realistic than the anime was, or ever will be.

Thank you for the review.

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it. Is my setting really that generic? Guess I
better do something to fix it. Though I would argue the standard Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
setting is close to medieval times anyway.

I disagree on not capitalizing a Pokemon’s name. The official media capitalize it, as
well as pretty much every other Pokemon fanfiction, fansite and forum poster. Not to
insult you or anything, but it seems like you’re the anyone who does this. Which is fine,
honestly.

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to give feedback! I appreciate it. I’ll try to edit it when I can and correct the mistakes. As for the first meeting, I do agree it was dull but I hope the rest of the story will eventually make up for it. Thank you so much! :)

Okay… JEEZ this review is longer then some of the chapters I use to type.

So let’s see… the thought thing… I used to do what you wanted me to do but people told me to change it, a lot of people.

Don’t mark scene changes? WTF? People will hate if I did thar!

Pokemon is a Proper Noun, Pikachu is the NAME OF A SPECIES!

Yeah my grammar sucks sometimes with the dialogue thing and honestly I don’t care.

The Mew coming to Ash thing will be explained later, if I ever get the chapter typed up.

What’s wrong with that scene?

Mew is a high ranking legendary! Victini? Not so much. Also even though Mew mostly annoys everyone how can you not get pissed at someone who made a normally happy go lucky person SOB!

Also… MY STORY MY RULES! Deal with it!

Thank you for your helpful comment (no sarcasm, I’m dead serious). But I always saw the pokemon’s names as being proper nouns. They’re not technically animals. So, I think I’m gonna keep writing like that, no offense. It’s just a habit that I don’t feel like trying to break at the moment.

Hi Farla,
I noticed your big long comment on a fellow fan fiction user’s story and I thought it was quite inappropriate to comment on the grammar when in fact this is a story not an essay, proposition, etc. If you don’t enjoy the story there is no point in commenting how you believe it is boring. If you wanted to say that to her private message her and discuss it rather than publicly humiliating her by saying her grammar is incorrect and her story is uninteresting. Is there not one thing you found exciting or fresh about this story? How about instead of when reading you find good things about the story then give constructive criticism by saying oh, “This was like this and I enjoyed this but perhaps if I were writing I would put more details about this and this.” instead of giving blatant criticism that has no constructive value because this was not written for the purpose of having sufficient grammar, it was written for the purpose of exaggerating a Pokemon story because it is what my fellow user enjoys, therefore I believe if you have an issue with her writing it would be more appropriate for you to inbox her with actual constructive criticism that may benefit her rather than make her feel bad or reluctant to write more. I know you are completely entitled to your own opinion, but try to see the story more for the positives than the negatives, I guarantee it’ll make it more enjoyable for not only you but the author because then maybe then you will have something insightful and clever to give feedback on rather than bitter and corrective as you have shown here and before. Enjoy!

I actually roleplayed online with someone like that, who’s posts were pretty much unreadable because the grammar was so awful. When we finally had enough with it and told him he had to clean up his writing, the guy just went “I am physically incapable of improving my grammar” and left the RP.

The knowledge that there are more people out there so completely unwilling to take responsibility for self-improvement makes me a little sad.
