You do realize that I am free to write as I wish without you constantly trying to give me grammar lessons. If I cared, I would take more time to change it. You already used half of these complaints. NEWS FLASH: NOBODY CARES!!!! Leave me alone or I will block you.

Alright Farla. Look, I’ll admit I do need your help. I’ve been in a bad place lately due to trolls, and I need fanfiction as training for an actual novel I’m writing. It’s been a rough couple weeks for me due to death threats on both sides as well.

Thanks for taking the time in leaving a review, i greatly appreciate it.
I won’t come up with excuses so i’ll tell you this.
Proofreading is one of those things that i shouldn’t just take lightly, i apologize for any errors that might have thrown you off in the story.
i try to avoid shortening words such as “You’re” and stick with the full word of “you are”.
Pokephilia is the practice of making love to your pokemon, which is frowned upon in the crossover me and Orthros are doing. With said license Zeke and or Terry will be able to make love to their Partners. if they were to do this they’d would have unnecessary negativity from the public.
and last but not least, this was just merely an introduction, not to be taken too seriously.
if this didn’t answer your questions or if you’re still confused then i apologize as i am not a professional in this field, im more of a novice.
again thank you for taking the time in leaving a review.

I’m sure you’ve randomly done something on a whim before. That is exactly what I’m doing right now… Maybe I’ll have a reason for writing this by the time I’m done.
I’m trying to remember the first time I ever encountered you on the site. It was probably in a review you posted on Chapter 1 of my story (All Out, if you recall; I definitely don’t blame you if you don’t remember it). Your review was very blunt as always, and I’ll readily admit that I agree with much of what you said. When you did review, I was slightly surprised. I had never seen or heard of you before (which was no fault of yours, clearly), and that made me a bit curious. You spoke with what I took to be a lot of authority and some condescension, and I wanted to know how someone could drop brutally honest reviews on other people with what I saw as nonchalance. The obvious next step was to check out your profile/forums, and that’s what I did. I read over some things (mostly the capitalization forum, which was fun to read) and thought about both points of view. I again concede that you’re correct as far as the capitalization bit goes, but for whatever reason I hate to look at pikachu as opposed to Pikachu. No idea why. Anyway, I’ll be moving on, ’cause capitalization’s not why I’m constructing this PM.
The impetus for writing this PM was actually the sight of two reviews you wrote recently. Unsurprisingly, you were your honest self. While I agreed with a good bit of what you said in the two reviews, I personally think you reached way too hard for parts of them/made the reviews unnecessarily long by ridiculing things when you could have summed up your point in maybe 3 sentences or less. Anyway, seeing you resurface again drew me back to your profile, and your fanfic guide happened to catch my eye. As of right now, I’ve read most of it, and I can confidently say that I’ve liked a majority of what I’ve read. While I don’t agree with you on everything – it would be foolish to expect anyone to agree with you on everything – I do respect your ideas and input on writing. I’m currently looking at working on a story (it’s your “favorite”, too), and I’m looking into your guide to see what I could do to make said story better. If all goes well, what I get out of the experience will help me when I start writing in the future.
In short, while I can’t subscribe to the tone of your reviews or parts of what you say, I am glad for your honesty. You might not be the nicest at saying what needs to be said, but what you do can certainly put in work. Hopefully I can use your sixteen years (plus?) on the site to my advantage and pull off something at least halfway decent. Knowing you, you’ll track my story down when it gets posted. Or not. That’s up to you, I suppose.
Adios.

I need to apologize. I really do…
I know it was a while ago–a long while–but our last conversation didn’t end on the best note, and I know that was my fault. It’s just, the more I thought about the change, the more I realized it didn’t feel right to me. Like the idiot I am, I overreacted to something so trivial that I couldn’t make the decision for myself. Honestly, I was worried that my last message to you–the one where I finally settled on all caps–would’ve gotten you angry.
You may not know, but I blocked you after that for no other reason than misplaced worry. I took you off that list after a few hours when I finally realized how stupid I was being, but that doesn’t change the fact that I put you on the list anyway. For what it’s worth, I really am sorry.I know I could’ve not apologized at all and let this whole thing die. Heck, for all I know you didn’t even find out you were blocked. But the possibility that you did find out has been bothering me, and I at least owe it to you to apologize for that. So, Farla, from a wannabe to a practiced hand, I am sincerely sorry for any offense that my words or actions may have caused you.

Thank you for another in-depth review!
I can’t add this as a second chapter right now because “Routines” and “Wounds” are too closely related. If one had a kind of coda and was a lot longer, all the parallelism I worked so hard to include would be screwed up. However, if I end up thinking of a similar scene to write for “Wounds,” I’ll definitely change this from a separate story to a second chapter.
Since after the events of BW2, Ghetsis apparently is unable to do “anything anymore,” I imagine it would take a long time before he can come up with another goal to work towards. Would he even want to see N again to kill him? He wanted to punish N more, but in this state I’m not sure Ghetsis would want to hunt him down and destroy him. That would have to wait until he’s in a stronger state.
I have no idea about Colress, honestly, since he’s not on the same wavelength as other human beings. He wouldn’t be annoyed that Ghetsis hates N more than he hates him, though, since the hate Ghetsis feels for N and the hatred he feels for Colress are very different.
Something tells me I should have mentioned that the prompt I was given for this fic was basically, “write a scene where Colress and Ghetsis are not fighting, which disturbs them because it feels wrong.” Should I add that to the Author’s Note?

And why would Y do that? They were little kids when this happened and got separated for over a decade. Of course X would assume she’s dead. And I am surprised you managed to find time to write this long and convoluted review.

Okay first off, I think I’m fine with my punctuation but oh well I can work on it.
Next, I have read actual books from the franchise and they do capitalize species’ names so I’m doing the same thing. Deal with it. I can capitalize what I want.
Next, I think it’s actually pretty retarded that people send off TEN year olds into the world without a care. Honestly, they’re too young so I changed the age to something a little bit more reasonable.
Another thing is that I’d like to remain faithful to my own team in Alpha Sapphire. Don’t like it? That’s not my problem. If you choose to keep reading the story, you’d notice that a different Pokemon of hers is a much more constant presence in the story. Her aptitude for ghost types is going to become important later on. And while yes, she could’ve done those things, she did actually need to have her parents’ approval in Johto to get a Pokemon but she obviously didn’t have that there. Deal with it. This is my story, so I can do it my way.

[Next, I think it’s actually pretty retarded that people send off TEN year olds into the world without a care. Honestly, they’re too young ]
No, we see that it’s just not very hard. Watching an older kid struggle with stuff ten year olds can handle? That’s what makes them look pretty stupid.
I just wanted to thank you for your review, I really didn’t consider those things when I was editing through earlier. I’ll be sure to take your criticisms into account before posting the next chapter.
Thanks again!
People don’t often reply to a new review on the old review chain, so it’s rare to see this sort of context.

Wow is this a taste of my own medicine. I used to write reviews like this all the time in high school! Ended up discouraging people and made a few quit writing. Guess how it feels when you meet a victim in person years later? Horror, utter horror, and you will never forgive yourself. Me, I’m hurt of course, but I have been in your position and know where you are coming from. However, this review contains no constructive criticism. Constructive criticism means you point out the good with the bad, where is the good in this review? That being said, I appreciate you taking the time to write out your opinion clearly. I know reviews like this take a long time. You also showed you read the whole thing through which is more than some reviewers do! I suggest studying childhood-onset and paranoid schizophrenia before making blanket statements about shoulds and coulds, and consider emphasized details like shiny Pokemon as potential foreshadowing. Thanks for your time!
( By the by, THAT is constructive criticism.)
Jan 9[ I suggest studying childhood-onset and paranoid schizophrenia before making blanket statements about shoulds and coulds]
You mean the disorder that considers just under eighteen to be early onset? The one that’s particularly calls out under-thirteen as “incredibly rare”? And oh yes, half as likely in girls. And that’s for all versions of schizophrenia, not just the trendy but rare visual hallucinations, so that’s another zero or two on the end of the odds, and a distinct lack of the uncool symptoms like massive delays in language and motor skills, which is even more unlikely. But more importantly, the younger it is the worse it is, and the less anyone knows how to treat it, which means there is no way in hell they’d make her older sister deal with her at home (and somehow not actually know anything about dealing with it given she just flails about when the inevitable happens) then send her on a pokemon journey the instant her symptoms seem to be under control.
What studying did you do for this, exactly, the journal of I Feel Like It?
[and consider emphasized details like shiny Pokemon as potential foreshadowing.]
Sure, it’s just a coincidence you’re doing the same thing as everyone else, it totally means something this time.
I’m pretty sure this same person bugged me a few years back with this exact same story about how they were a horrible person who lived only to torment others, and then they realized it was wrong when they met somebody IRL!!!, and now they’re telling me again that I too should stop deliberately trying to crush people’s souls, because soon I’ll realize! Any decade now!
You have some white text throughout the post.
Why do people treat banning as a cardinal sin or a threat? Ignore list is here to be used.
Probably because if you ban someone it’s seen as a cheap way of getting the last word and really undermines your point (on Tumblr). You can’t post the receipts without potentially getting backlash for posting something and not letting them reply. And if you give them a warning and they do reply, then you can say they ignored your boundaries and you’ve won. It makes sense on Tumblr, but not really with Farla.
Wow! Did the evil of banning really originate on Tumblr? I’ve seen people overreact to banning in all sorts of places. That explains a lot. My original theory was just that people somehow thought those they banned could feel the diabolical glee of removing the offender from sight.
I only have an in-depth knowledge of Tumblr banning so I don’t know if it originated somewhere else. I imagine that behavior grows naturally from a forum-type setting where people debate things. Which makes it pretty odd to see on a site like FF.net, but norms will spread I guess.
Tumblr bans also prevent the other person from following/seeing your posts, don’t they? That could be why it’s seen as overkill.
I’m about sick of this “it was just for fun and if you find problems, it’s your fault for taking it too seriously” attitude. It kind of makes you wonder why they post the stories in the first place. I mean, if they’re happy to leave their stories as total messes, then they can’t really care about other people enjoying them. And they’re obviously not doing it as an excersise to improve their writing either, so what actually is the point? If it’s just the writing that’s fun, why do they put the stories up for other people to see?
My guess is that they post solely to get pats on the back from others. I actually have no problem with this. How they reply is another matter.
Is it possible to make Dragon-quill.net show profile pics in these exchanges, even if it’s just the Farla seal?
Hm. Probably? I could change the image link to go to a seal I upload here.
It looks like the images might be set to only show on fictionpress and ffnet. We’d have to upload them here and then manually insert them into the posts. Which Farla is welcome to do, but might not be worth the effort unless people feel really strongly about it.
I don’t feel strongly about it. It might have been an one time effort for all I knew.
I am curious (since, again, kinda new here), what is the intention of posting the replies to your reviews? I mean, I kinda get the particularly WTF angry responses and, to a degree, those that just missed the point of the initial review. But I’m not entirely sure about the ones that are just thankful or otherwise attempting to explain their writing choices/saying they’ll fix or explain later. Especially when they’re presented without comment.
Is it just to get a record of how many positive, negative, and neutral replies you get? I’m just not sure quite how I feel about the practice and feel like I’d get a better idea if I knew the logic behind it, since I’m uncomfortable with a relatively neutral response being set up for mockery and hope that is not the intent.
The fact they’re easily identified as neutral/positive and you can’t figure out how or why I’m mocking them is kind of a clue.
Mostly? Transparency. People make sweeping statements about how “everyone” feels about my reviews. It also means everyone gets to give their counterarguments to my review rather than me picking out whoever sounds dumbest and giving a skewed view of things.
I was just wondering if it was maybe a way of saying “the story should stand on its own, don’t tell me what you meant, fix it” or simply transparancy.
