Pretty good replies this time! I also got a ton of angry reviews from someone disgruntled, but that’s another post.
Ourian ClemmensI just wanted to apologize for my behavior towards your reviews. I was out of line.

Thank you for your insight. I can take that chapter down, if you’d like.

I wrote this years ago. I was 12-13 at the time. Sorry for not being paragraph suave when I was barely a teenager.
Emoness isn’t a word but I understand what you mean. I was currently going through major hardships with my friends and family at the time and took it out on Blizzard to make myself feel better. In the majority of my stories have that character I vent through, and I make their lives harder than mine as a comping mechanism so please excuse any over the top “emoness” they may be exhibiting. Blizzard isn’t a nice pokemon and so some others belonging to the same town believe it’s okay to mess with her. I’m sorry but I dont know how else a pokemon can send “prank mail” or “hate mail”.

I added that in because at the time I thought “She didn’t want to open her brown eyes” was too plain. I put in “oddly colored” instead because she is a glaceon and they have blue eyes rather than brown. I have a headcannon that pokemon evolution can be ‘interrupted’, so to speak, and that’s what happened to her so when she was evolving into a glaceon her evolution was interrupted and so her eyes didn’t change color like they should have. I apologize for trying to give character without sounding dull.

Yeah… it was horrible. I’ll admit, I confuse myself, but the reason I use the Pokemon’s name and capitalize it is because it’s just the way I write things. If you don’t like it, well, I’m sorry, but I won’t be changing that. I actually picked up on this way of writing the Pokémon names from another guy, DarkAmphithere (I think that’s how it’s spelled), but he’s a lot better than I am, even if he does have little references to others of the same species (like multiple Gardevoir at one point in one story, for example, with a main character named Gardevoir). You’re a good critic though, albeit, a little harsh to me. But that’s what I’d expect, to be honest. I rush the plot way too often, and something is very wrong with my logic. Thanks for pointing out some things though. I’ll try to incorporate some of them into my story, if I can. Also, I’m pretty sure I only had one Houndoom so far, but I might’ve added more on accident… oh well.

Thank you for the help on my story…are you a beta reader? Just wondering. Thanks for the breaking up sentences walk through, I needed that. And for the DNA and R-G-B bar, it can be done on friendship rules, you would just have to have trust in your Pokemon. Also, if you like this I suggest you read Krimson Kanes Flame of Life. My world was based on his.

First of all, I would like to thank you for taking the time to criticize my story, if it really is this terrible. I will try and edit this to make it more interesting and less generic. My grammar isn’t typically the best so I am sorry for all of the grammatical mistakes- I need to find a Beta, although I am not as familiar with this site as some, so I don’t know how exactly I should go about doing this. I will change the beginning in a rewrite I will be doing soon- I have already been called out on it before, so it is definitely a thing to change. The bit in your review about the title is interesting- I agree, I should change the title.
“It’s Always Darkest Before The Dawn” is the title I’m going for- mostly because the entire premise of the story is about the fact that time is bleeding into itself- making fluctuations in which some time periods seem faster and some slower- for example, Moriko wondering why it’s all of a sudden 7:30 instead of dawn, and the subtler example of Arashi taking what seems like hours in the lab.
The last two examples you listed have reasons:
A: Moriko is an impatient character. She can’t stand waiting for anything and is very impulsive. She also would prefer if Arashi WASN’T her rival- to be honest, she just wants to get away from her. I’ll try and include these points in the rewrite, or take your advice and make Moriko stay and watch.
B: Moriko is very impulsive and goes on a gut feeling- she didn’t actually know what pokemon was in the pokeball, whereas characters like Ankoku and Kaito would have asked the professor. This can lead Moriko, as a character, into sticky situations such as being stuck with a type disadvantage.
Thank you again for you criticism and advice, I applaud you for taking your precious time to help some random author with her story! Your advice is well appreciated!

Ok, you caught me. This story was written several years ago. In fact, this is probably the first fanfiction I ever wrote. The only reason I uploaded it was because I was in a rut and thought, “I’ve got to contribute SOMETHING!” so I used this. Your criticism has helped me realize that as my first work, this wasn’t really all that good. I can assure you that I’ve since improved somewhat.
My idea, as stated in the summary, was just a who-would-win-in-a-fight scenario. You might think Ghetsis wasn’t a match for Cynthia, and he probably wasn’t. But when I played Pokémon black I actually had trouble beating him, especially his Hydreigon. I apologize about the bad setup; I couldn’t really think of a good way for Cynthia and Ghetsis to run into each other. Again, this was my first fanfiction, so the concept of keeping people in character was kind of out of the question for me. You’re right, Cynthia wouldn’t be megalomaniacal or battle-addicted!
I wasn’t too sure about the consistencies with capitalizing Pokémon moves. When I first wrote this I didn’t intend to upload it, so I figured it would be okay to be inconsistent. Thanks for pointing that out; I’m new here, so sometimes I forget that it’s best to edit your stories before displaying them.
I’ll fix the thing with Spiritomb and its misconception of eternity XD.
Also, I apologize for the abrupt ending. I was trying to get Ghetsis to have the “last laugh”, but I guess I failed by making it so random.
I finally apologize for any sort of bad spelling. I didn’t have Microsoft Word back then, so I didn’t have spellcheck. I have it now, though, so I’ll fix what needs to be fixed.
If you’d like, I can revise this. Really, I’m not this bad anymore, and I think I could improve this if you gave me some time. But only if you’d read it again if it was fixed.
Also, thanks for being the first person to criticize one of my stories! Criticism at all is very rare on this site, and just a few weeks ago a friend of mine on here kind of got offended when I tried to be constructive about it. I also appreciate a review at all; I haven’t been getting many of them lately.

Thank you for taking the time to review all of that information. I’ll try to improve my writing. c:

You should be a literacy teacher.
I do appreciate the feedback. I’ll work harder as I go along.

Thank you for the advice I will take it all into consideration in the next chapter.
I’m sorry about the capitalization problem in the story, Loop. I was having a rough day, I barely had any sleep lately, and recently found out I’m failing some subjects. I’ll be sure to apply proper capitalization in the next chapter.
Listen, I know this is all made up. It’s SUPPOSE to be made up. And I said I would be editing it. This is not complete, it is put up so I can access it anywhere to edit it. I KNOW I have a lot of work to do. I am not used to writing stories, so I’m still in training. I mean, I’m not going to even try to be a writer, I just needed to do SOMETHING if I wasn’t inspired to draw. It was in my mind and I had to write it out.
Ok, I’ll fix it asap.

Thank you for your review. Your feedback is appreciated. I am curious as to whether or not you liked the actual story, but since you were willing to take the time to review, I can believe that you felt that I at least tried.
Thanks again,

Alright, after reading your PM in the very early morning,
the Mary Sue? Is it because her team doesn’t die or whatsoever? They will eventually. Or is it the female? K is me. I soft-reseted, but my Riolu wasn’t.
And the skipping blah blah, I’ve been writing like that on my journeys…I guess. I haven’t played BW2 in a year or so, I can’t even remember what’s going to happen next, so I started all together, then the thing with the Bianca event (or getting starter) was kinda long, it yeah, ruined it perhaps. But I was tired. Playing while typing while watching on my brother. And school was coming soon again.
And the dialogues, well sorry. I didn’t write as much before when I first started. And I’m more used the a script format or dialogue format for games since I don’t wanna type all the details down.
And the babble, if you think it was time-wasting, then don’t read the story. It will be time-wasting.
So yeah, thanks I guess. I dunno. I’ll go check on my other messages.

I like that you are trying to help but in reality this is fiction. 40 million number is a inside joke and the USA is in a tight position with money. I’m still a student so the correction with the talking helps a lot. Now I’m NOT SAYING YOU are EVIL. My opinion on the government is really bad no matter what you think. Its like a evil Dumbledore story yes he is evil in the fanfiction but he is not in the real canon story. With The UN and slavery idea… well the fact is that the pokemon world is based off of pokemon and our world is not our world but one that is similar. The UN in my world is a bit more well helpful. That also means people may have a different mind set. Just cause you have your mind set dosnt mean people have the same mind set as you. I have a friend in real life that is really picky with spelling and grammar and I recommended her not to read my story’s cause I’m not good a making a story with any of those things.
If you actually read Ash/Satoshi POV you would know that he changed his name legally and I use both in the POV switch because he will be called both. I’m really sorry my story…

Thanks for the review! Your review is helpful and made some important points.
And you’re right, my plot does need to be cleaned up. In all honesty, I haven’t written a story in a long time, so when I finally wrote this, I kind of just dived in without planning it out too well.
The only thing that I’m not sure if I agree with or not is your response to the quote.
[I may be a Keeper and I may not have a Pokémon, but I can communicate with dark-type Pokémon and ask them for help if I need it. That should be good enough for you.” ]
She does seem like quite the idiot when she says this, but that’s how it’s supposed to be. She’s supposed to be ignorant because she feels isolated since she’s not allowed to leave the town and gets in trouble every time she does and doesn’t fully understand why. However, I still understand what you’re getting at.
Anyways, thanks again for the helpful review! I’m probably going to start this story over from scratch, now that I think about it. You’re right, the thing is kind of cliche. I’m going to keep the whole idea with the Keepers and all, but I’m going to set it up in a more original, unexpected way to make it more interesting and separate from the rest.
Keep doing what you’re doing for the community, because it helps a lot!

Thanks for the tips. I wrote the Pokemon’s names with capital letters at the beginning because if you play any of the Pokemon games, if it says that a wild Pikachu appeared, it clearly states this: “A wild Pikachu appeared!” Also, if you go look in games from Platinum back to the original Pokemon Red version, the Pokemon’s full names are capitalized. To be honest, I couldn’t agree with you more on the dialog. I will fix it. Also, Mizuki is thirteen because I am thirteen as well, and therefore would be able to make her more realistic being that age myself. Along with that, I was planning on making Mizuki seem sort of immature or finding another reason for her to have to wait to go on a journey. Also, please keep writing. The second chapter will be longer and reveal more about the characters.

Before you read this, this is NOT a hate ramble or anything of the sort! So read if you’re not busy, or you’re feeling down, whatever.
As you can probably see from my writing right now, my grammar still sucks… really badly. Haha. But that’s not the point.
A couple of years ago when I was still in elementary school you reviewed my Pokemon Adventures FanFiction. You weren’t really harsh, just really detailed in your findings. And I’d just like to say…
Thanks!
I don’t know what it was, but I kept asking myself why I wasn’t getting reviews, even if I thought my stories were good (naiive, naiive). When I read your review, however, I realized people commented on GOOD stories, QUALITY stories, FanFictions made with love and time. The little things you helped pick out helped me a lot as I grew up, even when I entered high school.
Since english is my second language I still have a hard time with it with sentence structure, spelling, and everything of the sort, but I think you inspired me to be a writer that actually focuses on quality, not just her own ideals.
I was re-reading my reviews from years back on my old accounts and I stumbled across yours… I recognized it instantly.
So again, sorry for wasting your time lol.

Mostly positive response batches like this one are pretty uplifting.
With only a few exceptions, this year has actually been surprisingly positive and non-insane.
“I also got a ton of angry reviews from someone disgruntled”
*takes a look* Haha, holy shit!
This kind of reminds me of the tactic I used to use on Neopets scammers who harvested account information by creating fake login pages: flood the forms with fake account/password combinations, insulting messages, and random gibberish until they got so sick of that shit clogging up their inboxes that they took the pages down.
I think one of the other reviews summarized them perfectly: [These “Guest” reviews are hilarious. It’s like I’m watching a Looney
Tunes cartoon, where the villain is just shaking his fist impotently at
the hero and cursing in a high, squeaky voice. These deserved to be
framed somewhere.]
…yeah that comment makes it sound like I either though that they’re being clever or I was an idiot, and neither is true. I was just suddenly reminded of that and typed it up before realizing I was too tired to come up with a punchline and then hit post anyway. That’s much better.
Don’t worry, I think your intended meaning was pretty clear.
Holy. Shit. Those reviews were just . . . wow. They surpassed the normal stupid-rude-and-butthurt combo and went straight to terrifying-batshit-and-gibberish blend. I’m almost scared. Any idea who the hell that psycho was?
It’s pretty typical of anon hate, actually. They weren’t even particularly dedicated. I might be kind of worried if they’d gone through and did that on every chapter of every story Farla’s posted, which initially appeared to be their intention, but they seem to have gotten bored pretty quickly.
You know, I’ve never had someone manage that. Ages ago I got into a fight with Articuno, and they hate-reviewed most of my then-fifty stories before running out of steam. This person had a strong start but after boosting my review count on SPerl they seem to have crashed and then shortly after dissipated into nothing like a spent hurricane.
