Exceedingly few responses this time. I presume Sevenways is just making people too burned out to want to talk at all.

Hybrid of Fate:Hello, I’m an egotistical f*** who claims to be a good beta reader, but can’t spell to save my life! Now, if my sock puppets will tell you to block these innocent people who we are attempting to ruin their reputation, don’t listen to us! In fact, block us! But if you don’t block them, I will know because I stalk your story, and I will harass you and commit slander against you! Bye!

Pokémon is a PROPER noun. You ALWAYS capitalize proper nouns

Every message this person sends just makes me more curious. So they’re dogged enough to keep sending me messages even when I’m not active, yet they do nothing for months in between? What’s going on here, exactly?

Thanks for giving my story such a thoughtful review! A couple of people have told me to block you, either without elaborating or else for reasons that don’t seem to add up to much. My story has been up for less than 24 hours and 3/5 reviews are about how people dislike you rather than anything to do with my story, which is… rather rude, imo. That’s not what the review function is for.
ANYWAY, concerning your review. I’ve seen dialogue formatted both the way I’m doing it and the way you describe, and my English teachers have said it’s fine, so I’ll continue as I am. It seems to be more a matter of opinion.
And yep, science! Very vague science that can’t be fully explained, but stem cell totipotency is absolutely fascinating — basically, it’s the ability of embryonic stem cells to change into any type of cell that the developing body needs, an ability that the adult body lacks. Whether that can be translated into changing chromosomes around is something for a real biologist to discuss, but I like being able to put something approaching real science into my fics.
And pokedollars are equivalent to yen? I had no idea. Even if that’s just fanon rather than anything confirmed by Game Freak and/or Nintendo, it’s clearly a better equivalency than US dollars. I’ll adjust the number of zeroes soon.
My reasoning behind the citizenship requirements was that doing a Gym run would require traveling around the region and theoretically learning about its people and pokemon, as well as a pretty serious time commitment. There are caveats that I didn’t go into with the fic, of course, but I like to think that Gyms serve many purposes beyond letting adolescent kids run wild with super-powered critters.
And Siebold is the voice of reason, of course. I really do enjoy original trainer fics, but Belle is very emotionally unstable right now and just not in a good place to embark on a pokemon journey. A lot of this fic revolves around doing things as ethically as possible, and what good ethics actually are in the context of the pokemon world.
Thanks again for leaving such a thoughtful review!
[And pokedollars are equivalent to yen?]
Do lemonades cost hundreds of USD where you live? :p Yeah, it’s generally agreed it’s supposed to be yen — the symbol even looks like the yen symbol. Fortunately, a yen is about a cent USD, so the conversion is easy.
Anyway, sounds good! Hope you continue.
