The Other Pokeauthors, Part 20

“And I don’t see how this isn’t a pokemon story just because it’s set in a fantasy world, the inhabitants are anthros.” They’re not even trying anymore.

Really?

Why do you even read my stories if you just critisize them, if you don’t like them then just don’t read them. And I don’t see how this isn’t a pokemon story just because it’s set in a fantasy world, the inhabitants are anthros. Why can’t you just give people a break? Instead of critisizing, why not give positive feedback, I frankly don’t care what you say, because plenty of other people actually appreciate the effort I go through to write my stories, nobody’s perfect and you have no right to gudge me on that.

And I’m sure they will appreciate it just as much, if not more, on Fictionpress or Archive of Our Own.

[And I don’t see how this isn’t a pokemon story just because it’s set in a fantasy world, the inhabitants are anthros.]

Humans with decorative animal traits =/= pokemon.

They finally blocked me after this.

Thank you for the feedback

I’m glad someone pointed out my bad grammar. I always had issues in English class, so thank you for pointing out what I did wrong and how to change it so it is correct in a way that doesn’t sound rude.
Now to address what was said.
While I agree with the comment about starting when the character wakes up, I’ll be the first to say I’m not the most creative when it comes to thinking up beginning scenes, so I started with something simple. I know, boring. Feel free to give an example of an intro that you think would work better or would be more interesting.I appreciate you telling me the proper way to write dialogue, as I had yet to be corrected despite it always looking a bit wrong somehow. I tried to look it up but a lot of pages on it weren’t clear enough for me to understand.
I thought I had corrected the Ghetsis quote when I went back through the chapter before I published it, thank you for pointing it out.I will admit you have a point about her lack of knowledge on the mechanics of the pokeball and why most pokemon become obedient upon capture, however in my story she didn’t begin truly learning about pokemon until around age 10 -she is currently 15- and she focused pretty much solely on the pokemon themselves, not so much the reasoning behind things pertaining to them. In her opinion Cheren was better at being a know-it-all than she was, so she simply studied pokemon and how to take care of them. Over the course of the story, as her and N grow closer, both of them will begin to understand things from the other’s perspective. That’s why they made the promise to learn together.

As for the last of your points, some wild pokemon may not actually have names to begin with. I thought about adding one but I couldn’t come up with a good one that didn’t sound like the generic cat name, so as a result she will simply be known as Purrloin until further notice.
Also, N understands the hearts of pokemon, not necessarily the speech of them. While he can usually decipher the meaning behind the dialogue, some fine details may not be as clear as quickly and as such get lost in translation unless the pokemon corrects him.
Anything I failed to address?

secs ago[As for the last of your points, some wild pokemon may not actually have names to begin with.]Well, why wouldn’t they? They’re social creatures. Many animals dumber than us use names, because names have practical purpose to social animals.

For the waking up thing, keep in mind you don’t have to cover every mundane detail leading up to the inciting event. It’s okay to not have the best most exciting opening ever; as long as you start where the first interesting, plotty event happens, readers will understand what the story is about and become engaged with it right off the bat.

You have a point, though what I meant by not having names was they could maybe have a different way of identifying each other. For example certain animals identify each other by markings or with sounds that can’t be made by humans. I understand Purrloin though so I’ll try and come up with a name ofor some sort.I think I get what you mean. So should I try to pick the point where something unusual or out of the ordinary happens then?

I noticed you didn’t remark on the brief battle scene near the end. Does that mean it wasn’t bad enough to comment on it or have you just not gotten to pick at it yet? (Not saying picking at it is bad, just curious to know how I did.) I know it wasn’t the best written scene but I figured after a day of battles Oshawott would be a bit stronger than an untrained Purrloin.

secs ago[So should I try to pick the point where something unusual or out of the ordinary happens then?]Something like that. The point where the plot starts, basically. You could probably start with Ghetsis’ speech, for instance — everyone reading is already familiar with Black and White, so they don’t need to be told how the protagonists got their pokemon and started off, etc.

The battle scene was fine, though you might want to look at this for more detailed advice: https://www.fanfiction.net/topic/11834/143300790/1/Battles-Are-Boring

I asked if the reader likes the summary or not. I didn’t asked to be judge. So why don’t you keep your opinions to yourself? I will write my story the way I want it. I don’t need your advice so back off!

Passage of Time Review

Hi, thanks for having time to spend on my tidbit of a story. I really appreciate your constructed criticism and giving the time out of your day to look over at my work.

I understand the many mistakes I have on there but I forced what I could just for the first chapter and do plan on making correction as I move along. I also see why you find the summary confusing but for those who are aware of my characters and the characters I plan to portray from my forum see why I formulate my descriptions as I do.

Again, I thank you for you little notes of correcting my dire mistakes. I’m not writer and don’t plan to be so any sort of help is guaranteed to boost what little bits of work I put into these one-shots and very short story arcs.

First off, thank you for the review, as well for the many helpful tips. It has been awhile since I’ve used this account, so mistakes will be made, but I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for them.

Now there are some things concerning the story and game I need to clarify.

First off, this is my first time playing Pokemon Y. I haven’t seen nor read about the adventures in the Kalos region. So the plot, characters, even the Pokemon in the region are all new to me.

Second, this is a “on the spot” kind of story. Due to the fact I don’t know what will happen next, I am using the gameplay to help shape this story.

Third, this isn’t suppose to be taken too seriously, as the main focus will be on humor and randomness. I understand that doing nuzlocke takes the story to a new level. You have to deal with morality, death, and very serious choices in the story, which is why I’ll be using humor to lighten up the mood. I don’t do gory or bloody stories, so I know there are things that I will have to work with.

The whole chapter being short, I understand that it’s short, that’s my original plan. It’s only part 1, after the first two chapters, the chapters length’s will entirely depend on where I am at in the game. They could be long or short, but as I mentioned before, this is a “on the spot” kind of story.

Again, thank you for the constructive criticism, it does mean a lot that you took your time to not only see the mistakes, but brought up helpful solutions. And I don’t mean any backlash, but I felt that I needed to at least explain my vision for this story. Thank you again for taking your time to help me and to read the start of this story.

Hey…

It’s me… Thanks for your advice, I know that story has many… Well, you know it. I don’t know how to write the story correctly so, I won’t take it as a negative comment.
I have a bad grammar and bad knowledge of english so I don’t know any ‘cool’ words or proper words for the sentence.
I write this for fun, but I also wanted to share my imagination with all people so… If you can, you can teach me how to be a great writer for FanFictions. If… If you dont want, then It’ll be okay.
That’s all for my super-long speech. I hope that you will know me as a beginner writer. And… Thanks again…
sorry

Thank you for your advice! I’m working on the corrections. I’ve noticed some of those parts in my story, and they would bother me, but I never knew what was wrong. The clarification is very helpful! I will apply those rules to the best of my ability. If you do continue to read my story, I hope any mistakes that I make don’t bother you.
