Thank you for your criticism. Such revisions to capitalization would, however, detract from the time available for future projects and other stories by other authors use similar methods of capitalization. Also, please refrain from outright insults about the quality of my writing. As for your question, the stories are divided for ease of reading and to separate different story arcs.

It really wouldn’t. It would take you a few minutes to fix, if that. If you respond to this message, you will have spent more time talking about it than it would take to fix it.

If you can’t tolerate negative responses, you shouldn’t be on on a site with a public review feature, for your own health.

I couldn’t get the link to the thread cause the link didn’t work so I am just sticking to messaging you.

First of all, about it taking place in the anime world (in the category thing): The reason why I said “World Any” instead of just “Anime” is because there are actually aspects from the games & mangas in there,
as Red IS Ash’s father in this fanfic (and other Pokemon fanfics I am making as well).

Second of all, the characters ages aren’t exactly mentioned in that fanfic, which is why I put the ages thing on top before the story to begin with. Yes, there are minor exceptions to this, like the mention of Ash being 14 ever since Pokemon B&W began, Dawn being 13 since Diamond & Pearl had ended, and Max & Bonnie being referred to as being 8 years of age, but otherwise, the characters ages aren’t exactly mentioned in the fanfic, like with May for an example.

Third of all, I misspelled Ahola region because it’s very difficult to spell it out for me. And not to mention, some words are difficult for me to spell and or capitalize, so my apologize if my grammar is really off. And that goes for the dialogue as well.

secs agoI have to put links in a weird format for reviews or else FFN will remove them. PMs are more lenient, so here’s the link again: https://www.fanfiction.net/topic/11834/55376155/1/Capitalization-Thread

[Second of all, the characters ages aren’t exactly mentioned in that fanfic, which is why I put the ages thing on top before the story to begin with.]

If they aren’t mentioned in the story, they aren’t important and you don’t need to mention them at all.

9h agoWhatever floats your boat, kid. I am not arguing with you. What’s important is how good the story gets, not about ages and all that crap.

Hey!!!

Hey, I didn’t know about the whole “original fantasy” thing!

1h agoI’m not sure what you mean?
57m agoLook, I didn’t know someone already made something like this. Sorry.
secs agoI meant your work isn’t fanfiction. There are sites to publish original work, which is where this should go.
8m agoI can keep it here if I want, you know. It’s not like it’s already happened.
You can, but it’d be inconsiderate to people who just want to read fanfiction. It won’t cost you to host it elsewhere, and it’ll be more convenient for everyone involved. The story may even turn out better if you focus on the aspects you really care about instead of feeling obligated to copy the trappings of Pokemon.

I didn’t do anything wrong here!

Why do so many people ask me questions while blocking me?

Also, notice how if they hadn’t blocked me I’d have been able to explain it’s not a big deal and they don’t have to feel bad. People are their own worst enemies sometimes.

Wow…. thanks a lot for taking the time to go over all my mistakes. I’ll be sure to change these mistakes and use this advice to prevent me from making the same mistakes in the future. Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. Plus two thing: first, I just want you to know, I was in about sixth grade when I wrote this story. I published it the way I wrote it because I did not see any grammatical mistakes. Second, I get that my story has the most generic title and summary. All I have to say to that is, I DO NOT CARE. I published it because I wanted to. I was not obligated to post it to the interconnected internet but I did. I am glad you took the time to write this review, so thank you. I do hope to read a review like yours again in the future. I hope you enjoy the rest of the stories you come across and not let mine ruin the fun of fanfiction for you because there are thousands of awesome authors that are a million times better than me. Thanks again!

Thanks for the review. Any kind of criticism helps so, thanks for letting me know. Although to be fair, I’ve always been a bit of a lighthearted guy, so when I write, I like making things lighthearted by adding comments, but I guess you make a good point. Thanks for the review!

Review on my story

Hi firstly thanks for reviewing my story I appreciate it. I don’t mind harsh critics because they give the best advice
thanks for that link about capitalization it helped clear quite a few doubts.
sorry for those two uncapitalized ‘i’s it was a last minute author’s note and was added in a hurry so i forgot about it

Third of all, I misspelled Ahola region

To be fair, this is a really easy thing to do. I constantly want to write pretty much anything other than “alolan” every time I do, and I feel so bad for the voice actors of the anime having to say alolan so much. The one use of the word in the english OP of the Sun and Moon anime even seems like the vocalist stumbled over it a bit. On the rare reason I have to say it out loud, I usually get “aloan”.

What’s important is how good the story gets, not about ages and all that crap.

Do you think he even realized he implicitly agreed with you on accident while trying to use the “anything is justifiable if the story is good” argument? I recently had this problem with a friend while talking about a problem I had with something I was writing for fun. I couldn’t think of a way to do a scene that didn’t feel like a contrivance, a cop-out, or a contrived cop-out. His advice was basically “just make it interesting”.

All I have to say to that is, I DO NOT CARE.

Do you get “thanks to your review, but I couldn’t care less about your opinion” a lot?

Which is what editing is for.

Do you do that, though? I don’t tend to see a lot of it in the records here.

    1. Mini-Farla says:

Yes, all the time. It comes up virtually every time I explain the original fiction thing. This is the first time someone thought I said they were plagiarizing, but most people still assume I’m insulting them somehow.

      1. someone says:

I personally wouldn’t automatically recognize something that begins and ends by making the same corrections as the previous message with a different word choice as “telling them they don’t have to feel bad.” Perhaps this is because I find it difficult sometimes to know someone’s tone without the non-verbal cues absent from “speaking” with only the written word.

        1. CrazyEd says:

I’m not sure why anyone would feel bad over “hey, this isn’t really fanfiction, so if you want to write original fiction, you might want to post it on one of these sites that won’t delete it” in the first place, so you’re still doing better than me.

I mean, I guess it could be read as “you’re so utterly incompetent at writing in this established world that you’re basically writing your own thing” if you stretched it a ton, but… that’s not what he’s saying, and even if you are writing something 100% your own imagination, so what?

          1. someone says:

See, I’m guessing that the writers objecting so strongly to that criticism are twisting it into “you’re so utterly incompetent at writing in this established world that you’re basically writing your own thing” (whether doing so makes a lick of sense or, more probably, not).

Whether a straight “just the facts” answer can help if they twist the original “just the facts” responce badly enough to take offense is pretty questionable.

(A am also curious as to what makes someone a concern “troll” as opposed to someone providing concrit. Although this isn’t the original topic for that it is a thing on my mind at the moment.)

            1. someone says:

              (crap, I keep making typos.)

            2. CrazyEd says:

A concern troll is the kind of troll who attempts to insult the person under the guise of “look, I’m only trying to look out for you, and while I totally don’t personally believe it, you’re kinda coming off as an incestuous baby-eating arsonist”. Or something like that.
