His mind developed differently than others, and therefore is more attuned to technicality than social interaction. His vocabulary is so huge that it makes his speech impediment WORSE. The only reason he can talk to characters in this chapter is because his responses are short, and not very complicated.

This isn’t more morally dubious than several other fictions that I’ve read, which involved a trainer adopting pokémon, anthropomorphic, female pokémon and then later screwing them in a one-shot chapter of a series of one-shots. Totally consensual incestal adoption! At least I’m not THAT screwed in the head to make a trainer x gallade x blaziken x delphox x hermaphrodite rattata gay orgy vore inside a breadbox at an abandoned leaf-spring factory.

Hi St Elmo’s Fire, thanks for pointing out my mistakes. And yes, you are correct. English is not my native language. One of the reasons why I started the story Fantasy Tale is to improve my English. If I do make anymore mistakes, feel free to PM me. You are a great help, thanks. By the way, what is about the Beta Reader?

[One of the reasons why I started the story Fantasy Tale is to improve my English.]
That’s not actually a very good idea. Prose writing is one of the hardest applications of a language. You need to learn to walk before you run, you know?
Beta readers read over your story before it’s posted and point out mistakes, like an editor.
Thanks for the worry
A response to your review at https://www.fanfiction.net/r/12506371/All right, I get what you’re saying on some parts, and I will fix those, but I still want to address some things.
For the capitalization thing: I find that both sides used canon to either immediately prove or immediately disprove their own/the others’ stance. The capitalization standards of canon, however, vary wildly just as much as those of the fandom. “CHARMANDER” prior to generation five versus “Charmander” used now, for example. I haven’t seen any fanfics which use “CHARMANDER.” However, a majority of the fanfics I find use “Charmander” rather than “charmander,” even if they were first published during generations three or four. My own brain, however, told me that the correct way of writing was “Charmander,” even though I was introduced to Pokémon during generation four, when “CHARMANDER” was correct to the games.
In short: I think it depends on how your brain saw it that influences how you write. And that’s okay! There’s no inherent right or wrong, because fan fiction is, at its core, how you feel about the work. If you write “pikachu” instead of “Pikachu,” more power to you. I won’t complain.
Here’s the way I see it, though. Pokémon, as in, the entire race of creatures, are revered as deities, are highly respected, or close friends to humans in the mainline canon, with abusive and cruel humans being the exception rather than the rule. As such, capitalizing their names is common courtesy.
If that doesn’t work, how about this example? In Christianity, and possibly other monotheistic faiths, God still has pronouns. “He/Him/Himself” are His pronouns, and they’re always capitalized to show respect and reverence in that faith. Who’s to say that Pokémon isn’t the same way?
But, let’s say that, in your mind, Pokémon are just common animals in their universe. That’s how you see canon. That’s a possible reason why “Skitty” could be “skitty” in your fanfics. Bear in mind that my explanation is only my own rationale, and you don’t have to abide by it at all. And my rationale also stands behind my fanfic due to the fact that humans are taught that they are below Pokémon, and that they are to be obeyed. Norman was the exception rather than the rule. Therefore, the capitalization does have an in-story justification that I was really hoping I didn’t have to point out to others, but, hey! Most people in the world didn’t learn the exact same things in the exact same schools as me, so I should probably stop with that mentality.
Another thing is that an author can keep things intentionally vague because they intend for the audience to fill it in for themselves. For example, the author of Calvin and Hobbes never elaborated on “the noodle incident” because he felt that his image of it would be disappointing to the audience no matter what he did. I’m doing something similar, for a different reason. Many works keep things intentionally vague to keep the audience guessing until it’s actually revealed. For example, Resident Evil: Revelations 2 was mostly vague on Moira’s fear of guns and her dislike of Barry, and it’s not revealed until late in Barry’s storyline why that was. Before this, however, many would try to draw their own conclusions about it. And who knows? Maybe you’re theory is right! One theory I found on the Resident Evil: Revelations 2 example turned out to be right, after all.
However, while you have to be artistic in order to use the license, because then it wouldn’t be an artistic license, please bear something in mind. A good reader can put themselves into the mind of the author and see why they made the choices they did in their writing without needing to be explicitly told by the author why. In my English/Language Arts class, we’re getting into that habit. As such, an aspiring author should be able to apply those lessons to their actual writing. I didn’t tell the audience right at that very moment why humans are slaves to Pokémon, and the audience has to figure out why I didn’t say it in the beginning. Why did I choose to have this person do this? Why did I choose to have that person do that? I feel like I shouldn’t have to spoon-feed it to the audience because that’s what I’m being taught not to do.
Overall, while I will admit that some of those things were flaws that were the fault of myself as the author, there are some things to consider on your side, too. I apologize if something wasn’t clear here. If that’s the case, then tell me, please. I’ll do my best to clear it up.

I don’t do capitalization arguments. Take it to the thread.
Your paragraphing is a little odd here. Remember that this site doesn’t let you use indents, so you need to use double spaces to make your paragraphs clear.
Otherwise, that’s fair. As long as you’re intending to explain the things I brought up, this works alright as an in medias res opening. I would still like to know why you wanted this to be Pokemon and not original fiction, however.
26m agoI’m a neutral party in the capitalization thing. My point was that I do it the way I learned was acceptable to do from other authors, but I won’t complain if you do it a differently. Plus, I can be a bit of a worrywart, so I don’t think the thread is something I should join in on. If I stressed over the reply I was going to get because I feared I came off as too hostile, then I don’t think expressing my views as a neutral party will end well for me. I’m going to try to figure out the paragraph spacing…
My inspiration was a My Little Pony fanfic called “Chains.” While many of them play with the idea of humans and the ponies from the show interacting, this one took a direction that I hadn’t heard of before. Instead of friendliness on both sides for the most part (“Anthropology”) or outright genocide (“The Conversion Bureau”), “Chains” depicts humans as slaves to the ponies. I thought “Hey! This sounds like a good idea for a Pokémon fanfic!” Thus, the premise of humans being slaves to Pokémon was born!
I already know the explanation I want to use, but you can come up with your own theories, if you so desire. It might even inspire me to incorporate it! Might.
I edited the first chapter, but I don’t know how well I did in actually fixing it…
A response to your review at https://www.fanfiction.net/r/12502783/Thank you for the information. I will try to avoid it in the next chapter.-Nyxn-
A response to your review at https://www.fanfiction.net/r/12512084/I agree with the topical reference now that I read back over it, and I’ll correct the typos and commas as soon as possible.I do have something planned in between gathering badges. And as far as your assumptions, you’re wrong as there is more planned out to the story than just Mack survivng a hard-fought battle and winning. I think you should refrain from making assumptions like this until more of the story is posted, because you don’t know how things are going to play out, if they’re even going to have to collect the gym badges at all due to a rebellion, if there will even be a successful rebellion, etc.
A response to your review at https://www.fanfiction.net/r/12513808/Thank you so much for the review it is really appreciated! First things, I need to say is that I’ve now put the kingdoms in my bio, I kinda forgot that I put that in the OC submission form.No not all the OC’s will be in a relationship, there might not even be a relationship in the fic. Sexual orientation, just gives me a little look at what their preferences are.
Not all OC’s have to be performing in contests. I was going to reveal that in chapter 2, but performer has a wide range from contests-dancing. Your OC could be an aspiring musician, or an actor.
A response to your review at https://www.fanfiction.net/r/12515962/Thanks for the review! I’m taking OC’s because I’m looking for good characters, and some people simply drop off an OC and then leave, which I do not want. OC survival will be based off of strategy and plot points which I will come up with, and not popularity.I’ll add a little more information about the school on my profile, thanks for the heads-up!
I’m also very glad that you like the example situation!

[some people simply drop off an OC and then leave]
How do you know they left? If someone has a following notification for your story, isn’t it more reasonable to assume they are, well, following it? Some people are shy and don’t like to leave reviews. You shouldn’t assume that means they aren’t paying attention at all.
First and foremost, might I say that you have a creative name? It reminds me of poetry: up for interpretation!
This is a response to the story you reviewed two days ago, “It’s Scary What a Smile Can Hide”
I remember you; you peer-pressured Clamorem Luporum to move Tsundere Lucario to DeviantArt. What a shame, really. I agree, no 2nd person stories. Bit I would’ve loved to see more work from him on this site. Now then, I will fix some of the aforementioned topics and I will explain others.
• He’s a pubescent boy. Why do you think so many people think he’s a man? With that much testosterone flowing through him, who’s to say he WON’T think those thoughts?
• The riolu’s gender will change later on. What a twist! Plus, you should probably read on before assuming this is a yaoi fanfiction.
• This kid is a genius. He’s just not mature. He’s socially secluded and has a speech impediment that causes him to stutter MUCH more than a normal person when trying to form a complex sentence. While other children were off playing bootleg-soccer, he was screwing around with the toaster that wouldn’t work. His mind developed differently than others, and therefore is more attuned to technicality than social interaction. His vocabulary is so huge that it makes his speech impediment WORSE. The only reason he can talk to characters in this chapter is because his responses are short, and not very complicated. Why wouldn’t he use big words? Yes, he will start to talk like a normal person. Plus, this entire story is a flashback. To whom, I won’t say. (Yet)
• Yes, I will fix the minor grammar mistakes. Including the capitalization issue with pokémon names.
• Waking up in the morning would give you an idea of how his mind works, and why he does things the way he does. That’s why I made him forget to go shopping to skip the breakfast that nobody cares about, and instead offer up the opportunity to find the deserted riolu. (I wanted to make any deep-thinkers realize that this whole story happened because he forgot to go shopping yesterday.) The purple prose is necessary to reflect how inhumanly BIG his vocabulary is.
• I’ll change the height. Or rather, the portrayal of height. Good point.
• The “grating filler” is the explanation for how overdeveloped and smart he is.
• I will change his logic about the scream.
• Again, I’ll fix the grammar.
• EV trained with the correct nature, it can basically steamroll anything at lv. 100.
• I will change the phrasing and reasoning for when he meets him.
• I will fix the possessive and turn it into a contraction.
• He had an issue with money and morality; remember how you predicted he was going to bang him? He needed to rid himself of the riolu, which is why he hasn’t shoehorned in a name for him yet. Nurse Joy interpreted his intentions to be ill willed, so she denied keeping the riolu or releasing it. And no, he’s not going to bang the riolu.
Sadly.
• It’s a different society. In the real world, Christianity is one of the most popular religions. That’s what Arceus is in this, basically. When was the last time you met someone that worshiped a Cheez-it as a god? Well, that’s what Christianity is in this.
• I’m doing this to explain the rarity and the gender ratio. Plus, I would like to have people have “a slice of life” of a transgender female.
• No, my protagonist ISN’T a normal 13-year old. What 13-year old shoplifts for a living? What 13-year-old shoplifts for other people? And for pay?
• This isn’t more morally dubious than several other fictions that I’ve read, which involved a trainer adopting pokémon, anthropomorphic, female pokémon and then later screwing them in a one-shot chapter of a series of one-shots. Totally consensual incestal adoption! At least I’m not THAT screwed in the head to make a trainer x gallade x blaziken x delphox x hermaphrodite rattata gay orgy vore inside a breadbox at an abandoned leaf-spring factory. Wattpad is weird. No, you can’t read it. It got removed a few months ago by the author. Sadly.
• You’re honestly the CinemaSins of http://www.Fanfiction.net. And I don’t know how to feel about that. Man, those directors must really be queasy after getting featured on CinemaSins. That being said, your review felt more like a roast than a review, but it did help me. I’m glad that I got visited by one of the titans of http://www.Fanfiction.net.
• Just in case you left anything else out, I’m going to address issues here.
• He’s a pickpocket and a shoplifter because he is a compulsive liar, later explained in the story. He never did understand the value of personal space.
• Like I said, he’s not mature. He has not courtesy.
• If they were going to be together and the age gap bothered you, the age gap between my parents is twelve years. The age gap between him and the riolu is eight.
• I really appreciate you reviewing, St. Elmo’s Fire. And I hope you keep doing so, because you really made me think about this story.
• As far as I’m concerned, you ARE my beta reader.
On an unrelated note, you should probably check out Boundless Love: The Tale of Athena by TLT-Hawk. He’s currently re-writing the story and would probably appreciate the help from you.
Thank you so much for reading and reviewing this story. You’re a huge help.

For future reference, this is much easier if you quote the sections you’re addressing.
[I remember you; you peer-pressured Clamorem Luporum to move Tsundere Lucario to DeviantArt.]
This is news to me. I vaguely remember reviewing that story once? That’s hardly peer pressure. If the author chose to move after that, that’s their own decision.
[He’s a pubescent boy. Why do you think so many people think he’s a man? With that much testosterone flowing through him, who’s to say he WON’T think those thoughts?]
As someone who was a 13-year-old boy, no, it’s still not normal. If puberty was like that for you, you may want to see a doctor to make sure your testosterone levels are normal.
[This kid is a genius. Why wouldn’t he use big words?]
So he’s a massive sue is what you’re telling me. If you’re going for self-indulgent wish fulfillment, well, okay, but none of this changes the fact that purple prose is awkward and frustrating to read.
[Waking up in the morning would give you an idea of how his mind works, and why he does things the way he does.]
What does it tell us that you couldn’t have told us by starting where the plot starts? Even if it does, why couldn’t you have waited until after the inciting event, after we’re already invested? In a narrative you should focus on what’s important. This thread explains this better: https://www.fanfiction.net/topic/11834/142411850/1/First-Chapters
[The “grating filler” is the explanation for how overdeveloped and smart he is.]
I don’t think you understood what I was referring to. I was talking about his conversational tone and constantly interrupting the story to talk to the audience. That kind of behavior is actually extremely juvenile and insecure, pretty much the opposite of what you’re trying to convey. A mature person should not be constantly getting distracted by tangents. This only works if you’re trying to show that he has ADD — in which case you’re actually doing that pretty accurately, but that doesn’t change the fact it’s grating to read through.
[EV trained with the correct nature, it can basically steamroll anything at lv. 100.]
Neither of those things apply to a baby found in the wild, also anything can basically steamroll anything at level 100. Riolu has a lower base stat total than fearow and pidgeotto. *Lucario* are strong, but riolu is a baby pokemon. No, what’s surprising about finding a riolu practically in your backyard is why it’s so far from home; outside of Kalos, it is only found deep in the wilderness and only in very specific locations. You don’t have to have a very good explanation, but you should make some attempt to justify why your protagonist gets the super special overused pokemon so easily.
[He had an issue with money and morality; remember how you predicted he was going to bang him? He needed to rid himself of the riolu, which is why he hasn’t shoehorned in a name for him yet.]
I’m not entirely clear what this is referring to; you mean when I questioned why he couldn’t take in the riolu? If this is the real reason, you need to make that clearer, because currently, the only reason he cites for not being able to keep it is that he can’t be a trainer.
[Nurse Joy interpreted his intentions to be ill willed, so she denied keeping the riolu or releasing it.]
What’s ill-willed about giving up a pokemon for adoption? Besides, if they think he’s posing a risk to the riolu, isn’t that even more reason to take it from him?
[It’s a different society. In the real world, Christianity is one of the most popular religions. That’s what Arceus is in this, basically. When was the last time you met someone that worshiped a Cheez-it as a god? Well, that’s what Christianity is in this.]
None of that makes any sense and I have no idea what you’re trying to say. I’d recommend taking the discussion to this thread: https://www.fanfiction.net/topic/11834/162324520/1/Pokeworld-Religion
[Plus, I would like to have people have “a slice of life” of a transgender female.]
Then you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what transgender people are. Transgender people have a mismatched gender from the outset; they do not change sex due to environmental stressors to facilitate reproduction. Obviously we don’t know if animals have a concept of gender and what they think when they go through sex changes, but it really doesn’t seem to be the same thing. Humans don’t function that way, so trying to tie it to gender dysphoria is just going to be awkward at best.
[No, my protagonist ISN’T a normal 13-year old. What 13-year old shoplifts for a living? What 13-year-old shoplifts for other people? And for pay?]
Again, you misunderstand my point. Kids’ brains are physically different from adults’. Their thoughts and behaviors are fundamentally different from adults’. You can’t magically get maturity by having a tragic/criminal backstory. And regardless, he doesn’t even act like a hardened criminal either. This is, very transparently, a teenager writing what he thinks adults sound like and pasting it on to his teenager OC to make him look more mature. Real maturity and development is just… way way more complicated than that. I strongly recommend reading stories about real-life street urchins if you want to get an idea of how kids embedded in a life of crime actually act.
[Totally consensual incestal adoption!]
Consent gets really hard to define with parental incest, which is essentially what this is. When you raise someone, you have a lot of control over not just their physical needs but their mental and moral development as well. If you raise someone to be totally dependent on you and to be unaware there could even be other options and then they decide to bang you… that’s not totally informed consent, and it’s a very squicky gray area for a lot of people. That’s the real issue here, much more than an age gap. If that’s your fetish… well, alright, I won’t judge, but you should be aware of why other people might find it upsetting.
Anyway. You say they aren’t going to be screwing, which is a relief, but you will have to forgive me for jumping to conclusions there. If your framing sends a different message than you intend due to other people muddying the waters, that sucks for you, but you should change your framing to make your intentions clear. Even something as blatant as an author note saying this is going to be a platonic romance is probably fine; tags are wonderful things and all.
[As far as I’m concerned, you ARE my beta reader.]
I do not want to beta read your incest fetish fic. Find someone else.
Okay, I brought this on myself by reviewing the pokescrewing fic to begin with. But still, yikes.
To be honest, in a way I find these fics more disturbing than all the rape stuff. In the latter case it’s a lot easier to convince myself that they know it’s just fantasy and real people don’t act like that, even though intellectually I know that’s being optimistic. It’s a lot harder to do that with the people who honestly think their raise-your-own-wife story is totally consensual and romantic.
A response to your review at https://www.fanfiction.net/r/12331131/I know that this is a very old comment, but it still bothers me because you are wrong. Pokemon is capitalized, look it up anywhere it’s spelled that way. So are these Pokemon names. It may not be proper but it’s the way you spell its name. Now you know. In case you didn’t already, its been awhile since you posted this comment.
https://www.fanfiction.net/topic/11834/55376155/1/Capitalization-Thread
What in the world is bootleg-soccer? Not even the poorest nations in the world are too poor to afford soccer.
they know it’s just fantasy and real people don’t act like that
Eeeh, I don’t think this is particularly unrealistically optimistic. Maybe within the specific subset of rape fetishists on FFN, maybe, but overall it really seems like most people (who aren’t otherwise incapable of interacting with society in general) with a rape fetish understand that their fetish is just a fetish and about as far from the real thing as a fetish can possibly be.
Admittedly, I’m basing that on my own personal experiences talking to people who enjoy fantasies of being raped, and most of the people on FFN seem to be into the fantasy of raping, and that might make a pretty big difference. Maybe the set of internet-degenerates I interact with are just way more responsible than your set of internet-degenerates. It’s totally possible. My internet-degenerates are surprisingly well-adjusted people in real life.
“….trainer x gallade x blaziken x delphox x hermaphrodite rattata gay orgy vore inside a breadbox at an abandoned leaf-spring factory…”
Truth to be told, at the very least that sounds much more original than his story.
What I want to know is why he picked such an original setting for his theoretical trainer x gallade x blaziken x delphox x hermaprodite rattata gay orgy vore story.
