In which I seem to come to a reasonable compromise with an author upset over the concept of public reviews, for once.
NumberofWattageA response to your review at https://www.fanfiction.net/r/12758647/ Okay, thanks for the feedback. I was thinking of revising the chapter on the substance point already. I’m also usually a stickler on its and it’s and so on, I’m a bit surprised that I missed it. I’ll definitely look into your other advice. Thank you.
Solagleo2384A response to your review at https://www.fanfiction.net/r/12758652/ ‘And’ never starts with a capital ‘A’, speak for yourself man.
What are you talking about?
Black-PhinoexThanks for the help. It’s really appreciated. I’ll put the lines in next time. as for the world thing I wasn’t sure what that was about as this was my first story with that in the publishing thing. I will try to do that. I will also go back and fix the error with the town name. Thanks again. Black-Phinoex:)
Another Undertale straggler came in here:
I do hope you are quite happy with yourself. The majority has voted and I shall be taking down that story. Have a good day. And please do not reply or argue, I just wanted you to know.
What are you talking about?
Look, dude, if you don’t want to talk to me, you shouldn’t have contacted me in the first place. If you do want to talk to me, I need to know what this is about.
If I wanted you to delete the story I’d have told you so. No one pointed a gun to your head and forced you to delete it. Don’t blame me or others for your own decisions.
Don’t do that, please. Just because some people dislike it doesn’t mean everyone does. It’s selfish of you to take that away from people. There are plenty of perfectly decent stories on here that authors have lost interest in; just add a note at the beginning saying you don’t intend to continue it, and let people enjoy it for what it is.A response to your review at https://www.fanfiction.net/r/12760156/ I’ll try to remember next time to capitalize titles that I use as names.
There is only one thing I want to comment about. You don’t have to put “Not doing this makes me not want to read your story.”.
Some people might understand this as something rude, and they can get discouraged. It doesn’t bother me, but it might bother others.
You could maybe put something nicer instead.
I have many grammar mistakes in my stories, I know that. It’s probably because English isn’t my first language. Thank you for telling me my mistakes.
Sophiechan~
I really appreciate that you are trying to make the story better, but a review that ridiculously long is a bit overkill. Honestly I thank you for what you said, help like that is great, but please if you have something as long and detailed as that, send it to me in a private message, not all in a review like that.

[a review that ridiculously long is a bit overkill]
If your story is good, it should be worth analyzing. If you don’t think my points are useful, no one’s forcing you to use them.
[also I am aware links are stripped, I use it as the name of the site]
Did you see my review on your other story?
[send it to me in a private message, not all in a review like that.]
Why?
No, I mean, it’s literally not possible to say “http://www.Fanfiction.net”. It’ll get stripped, and your readers will only be confused. You have to refer to it in modified forms if you want it to show up. “Fanfiction net”, without the dot, is what most people use.
Not unless you give me a good reason. Other people might read the review and learn from it, and that’s important to me.Heyo!
As you may know. I am a co-writer for a story that you recently left a review on, and I want to thank you for the… extensive properties of it! I see where you’re coming from with pretty much everything you said, and I honestly like the way you basically pick apart everything to give advice, especially on stories that are so early in development. The only thing mentioned that I didn’t fully agree with was adaptations to real world examples of poverty and monarchy. Again, I do see where you’re coming from, but the development of this story, when being discussed, is supposed to not be like the real world counterpart of these situations. It is different by intention, rather than an oversight, so I just wanted to clarify. Now, there’s one thing I just want to mention to you. The main creator of this story is someone I met not too long ago, and I have to say, they are the most polite person I have met in… a long time. You don’t find polite people when at debate tournaments… But anyway, along with this, they are also very anxious when it comes to how this story will be received, so they sort of overreact to feedback such as yours, which isn’t bad, but just very blunt and conclusive. I’m not going to ask you to stop sending feedback, but, instead of leaving it as a review, would you consider sending it to me in a PM instead? My partner here is decently new to putting their ideas online, (As am I, really.) and they really did overthink reviews like the one you gave, and I don’t want them to feel like that, so please consider my proposition if you will!
Thank you once more for the review!

The reason I write reviews instead of PMs is precisely because reviews are public. This means that other people can read them and learn from them, which potentially extends the good they can do. By posting such detailed reviews in public, other people can notice the themes I’m discussing and potentially start their own conversations. This is important to me.
If your friend gets anxious from reviews… well, I’m sorry, but they just need to learn to deal with that. This is a public website with a public review feature. They’re going to have to get used to that if they want to host stories on this site. After a while when they see that nothing bad’s happened, I’m sure they’ll realize my opinion isn’t a big deal and they’ll feel better.
1h agoYou know, I appreciate what you do on this site. It’s a good way to better other authors’ writing, whether the story be theirs or not. Granted, I have noticed that not many people other than the authors themselves look at the reviews too often, (At least, not in my case) but I do think you end up helping the ones that actually do, which is important.
As for my friend… I think you’re right, I just know they feel bad and it sort of bothers me. I never really had a problem with criticism, so I don’t know exactly how they feel, and that made me just not want it to get any worse. In the end though, I suppose you’re most likely right.
If they’re still upset, tell them they can block me until they feel better. I won’t mind. There are also other hosting sites, such as Archive of Our Own, that give you more control over comments.A response to your review at https://www.fanfiction.net/r/12759622/ Thanks for your feedback! I will try to put this into consideration. Merry Christmas!
A response to your review at https://www.fanfiction.net/r/12758612/ Well, Pokemon is the name of the game. So, as it is a name. You’re meant to capitalize the “P”. I hope you enjoyed the fanfiction, anyway. It’s my first one.
I don’t think I’ve heard that one before. Please post it to https://www.fanfiction.net/topic/11834/55376155/1/Capitalization-Thread .A response to your review at https://www.fanfiction.net/r/12762613/ Thx for the review and by the way that was just to start
Yeah, hey. Thanks for the positive criticism.
First of all, yes the title is pretty cliché, i’ll give you that. I didn’t really think it through at that moment. I was kind of salty i deleted everything i typed out for the first part on accident instead of saving it to my PC… But yeah, i’ll try to find another title.
Secondly, the summary; yes, it’s boring, but it was the most logically sounding in my head at that time. I’ll look into that too.
Also, yes. I do not have a plot for the moment, altough i will be going out of Kanto as soon as possible, maybe wait until she has like 4 badges? Maybe to another Region not in the main-games (Like Ferrum from Pokkén Tournament(DX) for example) And i have the idea of giving a special Pokémon to Robin, it really goes right against my principles as i plan to give her an alternate form of Riolu, based on a Shiny Riolu a friend of me gave 4 years ago.
The fact that i write in English is because my native language (Dutch) is just.. no. Yes, i may not be the best at it. But hey, no one is perfect right? I try to write as much in perfect English as possible, but i make grammar errors far too often in my opinion. I should probably delete that section of the author note…
Also. Just wondering if you are interested to help me refine my story, to put it simply.
Hope you will be here for a while. I like honesty and positive criticism.
If you want to ask anything, just ask. I’m no biting dog.

[The fact that i write in English is because my native language (Dutch) is just.. no.]
I’m afraid you’ll have to elaborate, I’m not sure what you mean.
[I should probably delete that section of the author note…]
No you shouldn’t, because then you’ll have no excuse for your mistakes and people will judge you more harshly.
