Last time…I was told to go fly to yet another location for the sake of plot.
D: Lucki maybe if you were less terrible we could’ve answered differently.
There’s also scientists still talking about their Groudon-related plans despite the fact that plan already happened and I caught it and everything.
Now that I get a good at you, aren’t you that kid from the other day?
So it wasn’t even weeks ago, it was yesterday and you guys can’t even remember me? Is getting crushed by kids something that happens every few hours for you?
Listen, our Leader and Tabitha are in danger. The way that girl handled her Pokemon earlier… She might even be better than Tabitha–no, than Leader Maxie himself!
I like that we’re implicitly admitting pokemon battles can totally conclude with the winner telling their pokemon to eat the loser.
That Whismur earlier pushed past me with tremendous power… The girl that ran through here with it was amazing, too… But, to be honest, the Whismur was the scarier one.
Now we’re also getting into the idea that pokemon are powerful in their own right and not just extensions of their trainers. Also, badass whismur!
And I have now reached them both.
Guh–?! spikyboxes Maxie.
All right! And the winner is Zinnia! she crows. Now tell Aster to eat him.
Leader Maxie! Please compose yourself! says Tabitha, running over.
Grr… he grrs. The great Maxie has fallen to this woman?!
Murr! (music note) Murr! (music note) says Aster, hopping up and down in delight at something so I don’t think it’s a stretch to assume it’s her impending meal.
Oh, oh, what’s this? Aren’t you a happy girl, Aster? (music note) Zinnia coos. Just what I’d expect of my daughter! We’re so in sync! Ahahaha!
Woman… Who are you? asks the unobservant Maxie.
A question mark bubbles from Zinnia’s head. Who am I? That’s a surprisingly difficult question. … I couldn’t become who I was supposed to be, so who does that make me now? … Haha! Whatever, right? Enough with the introspection and the soul searching… You there! Lucki! Don’t just stand there like a stick in the mud. Come over and say hi.
Lucki, for once, does what I actually want her to do and runs over. A red terror stick pops from Tabitha’s head. Could it be?! The child?!
You… Why are you here? says Maxie.
Isn’t it obvious? She’s the heroine, right? Here to save the world again.
Way to get Lucki on your side there!
Oops. But looks like she’s a bit too late this time. If only you’d been here just one minute earlier!
That’s…ominous. I hope she means that she’s usurping my hero role and not that everyone’s insistence she’s morally equal to Nazicorp is starting to wear on her. She snatches the keystone.
Le-leader?! gasps Tabitha, apparently shocked by the concept of theft.
All right. I’d say this Key Stone is mine. She turns to Aster. We finally got everything, Aster.
Murrr?
Now we can do it: The summoning. We will summon Rayquaza!
Not that that’s not a great idea, but the fact this is Plan B, and the fact that Plan A was trigger the apocalypse, suggests there’s something about this plan that made you think it wouldn’t work…
Well then, looks like my job here is done. So don’t mind me while I excuse myself. Oh. Lucki?
Please can I go with you this time EVERYONE IS A NAZI AND IT’S HORRIBLE
I really hope you’ll come chasing after me, you know? We’ll be heading to that ancient tower, sealed since primal times, the SKY PILLAR. If you don’t know what that is, well, ask that former Champ of yours. He’ll know what I’m talking about. See you there!
Murrr!
See you!
(So at some point the game thinks it’s shifted to chasing her to stop her? Why would I do that, game.)
Wh-wh-wh-wh– What is going on here?! howls Tabitha.
Okay, so going by the fact the Magma NPCs don’t seem to have fully updated dialogue, this seems like a total rushjob. That may explain why there doesn’t seem to be a particular point where it’s established I’m chasing Zinnia to stop her as opposed to because she keeps leaving me behind. With that in mind, my best guess is there were two scripts that got messily combined and everyone thought someone else was in charge of editing out the problems – one was about Zinnia being morally dubious, one was about Devon being morally dubious, and they were planning on some thing where the character is all which is right what is right etc but Zinnia’s side was written by someone sane while whoever was in charge of Devon was all NOW THEY ARE LITERALLY NAZIS!!!1! and someone started trying to edit Devon down so that, at a guess, their evil was that they’d recovered genocide artifacts and were planning to blow up alt-Hoenn. Devon’s thing is picking the lesser evil while Zinnia’s going for the riskier long shot where if it works, nobody needs to die but if it fails they’re all doomed. Anyway, halfway through that, the game gets shipped, which is why no one got around to editing the incidental dialogue in the Magma hideout and we still have scientists talking about the original evil plan and guys standing next to soda machines congratulating themselves.
Who does she think she is, messing up our base and then giving us the slip?!
Not sure how that last part even works, though. I mean, if she beat you, how exactly where you going to stop her from leaving?
That can never be forgiven! Tabitha howls for some reason.
… replies Maxie. Now I see… Yes, it was not chance that brought you here now.
That’s pretty obvious.
This was inevitable.
Well, I wouldn’t go that far.
Leader? asks Tabitha, probably concerned that the guy is making sweeping pronouncements over the mystery of me showing up just because I knew this was about to happen.
Tabitha. Give it to her, orders Maxie.
Another red exclamation mark of total shock pops out. What did you say?! I-is that all right?!
Yes… Now that the Key Stone had been stolen, a Mega Stone will serve me no purpose.
Well it won’t serve Lucki either. I keep telling you people, she can’t use mega evolution.
Acknowledged, says Tabitha, but is it me he’s speaking to? Of course not he’s going to give me yet another stupid stone.
Lucki obtained a Cameruptite!
See?
Cameruptite. Make sure your Camerupt holds on to it tightly, Tabitha says.
I don’t even have one!
Then Maxie steps forward. I do not have the power now to use Mega Evolution. So I entrust it to you. I entrust it believing that this is the best action I can now take! That woman… She had such utter mastery over her Dragon-type Pokemon. There is more to her than meets the eye.
Was this originally supposed to happen before someone explained her whole backstory?
I do not know what must be going through her mind. But…I think you may be the only one who can now stand against her.
That’s very dramatic but I already know who she is and what she’s thinking and how this is necessary for us not to die. You’re just mad she stole your keystone, and the last time you used that was to try to stop me from stopping you from wrecking the world.
So I ask you this favor: Rage! Take up this fight for me, and bring this crisis to its resolution!
You didn’t technically say who I was supposed to fight so I’m going to assume you mean Devon.
The Entry Call (Ver. 0.09) app rang on your PokeNav Plus!
Steven: Lucki!
Are you all right?!
Steven: …
Steven: Is that right… I never even imagined…
Steven: The Key Stone… The Sky Pillar… And the Draconid people…
Steven: So that’s it… I begin to see the line connecting these dots.
Steven: I think we need to meet up at once to discuss what we should do next.
Steven: I’ll be waiting at the Space Center. Up on 2F.
Steven: Do hurry.
…Kzt!
Well, I’M thinking I need to ignore him and go see if Zinnia will hang out with me instead of running off again.
I noticed that you like to raise the pokemon you catch but do you keep raising them or do you leave them once they evolve?
Just some general advice RE: your comments, if you’re looking for a strategy guide, you should check out IGN’s GameFAQs. If you’re out for info about pokemon moves, stats, evolutions, etc, head over to Bulbapedia. Unfortunately this is a Let’s Play and not a walkthrough, so it won’t really be helpful for that stuff.
Fair enough but i laugh at least 10 times every time i read one of the day posts they are hilarious!
No prob, read and comment away! But I noticed you post some questions about where to find Pokemon, how to build a team, etc. on older posts and didn’t want them to go unanswered. =]
Your surmises make me feel a little bit better about how long I am spending editing my game’s script.
