Sunday Carapaces Part 8 (5)

I have a terrible work ethic. Meant to get on this sooner.

Royal Jelly (Snowman (The Felt))

The honey bee thing is a nice idea and raises interesting questions (where does the King fit into this? Is the reason Scratch isn’t around because the pheromones are that broad?). But it seems weird that she wants to give everyone blowjobs due to a mating compulsion. It says it’s not doing anything to fertilize the eggs, and there’s no sign of what other purpose it has.

I realize this is missing the point.

Bloodsport (Snowman (Slick, Cans, Crowbar))

He can’t kill her. That doesn’t mean he won’t see how far he can go. She can kill him. But she won’t. Not yet. Snowman isn’t about to give Slick the easy way out of this shitty world. He’s going to suffer for as long as she suffers.

This is such wonderfully vicious reasoning.

I like how imbedded the violence is between them here. They’re hurting each other, then they’re hurting each other and being hurt so much they want to fuck, then they’re fucking while hurting each other, and they only stop when they stop having sex.

Caring is Creepy (Slick (Snowman))

The dissonance of this is just lovely. Not just the violence but the urgency of it in his thoughts compared to how languid the actual action is. And it’s nice to see them actually happy together for a bit, even if they’re horrified by it.

I’m curious where their relationship goes from here, particularly given the fact he can’t shake the mindset and goes to kiss her it doesn’t seem like just never speaking of it again will do. It seems like either this would improve things and lead to them maybe getting along or one of them will get so freaked out they’ll end up killing the other in the process of trying to get things back to normal.

Primed (Snowman (Slick, Droog))

I wish there was more explanation with this one. I don’t think it really needs it, but I’m just really curious if this is Snowman and Slick in a less vicious relationship than usual, or Snowman and Slick smashed out of their minds and they just happen to be exceptionally nice drunks. Is Slick going to wake up wondering what he was thinking leading her back to their secret hideout? Will Snowman wonder why on Alternia she made sure his hat would be fine instead of lighting it on fire herself and stealing his candy? Or will they just fuck again in the morning and annoy Droog further?

A Flaw in the Plan (Snowman (Slick))

From her place in the cosmos, she knew all time and space inside and out, the location of every speck of stardust, of every living being, and of the great many stars

This sounds great except that when she goes back she searches the room because she doesn’t know where her stuff is, so every bit of stardust seems extreme.

Also when put an arm around his neck is missing she.

Slick is so pathetic in this. He steals her bra! That’s not what roofies are for, Slick. And then he’s trying to do his big speech about how smart and powerful he is, and she’s looking for her hat. And then he gets raped for trying to rape her. And then he’s going to have to explain to whoever finds him, probably Droog, about why he thought this was a good idea.

The panties were stuck on his head, a perfect souvenir for Slick and a reminder to always think twice before doing something this stupid again.

…considering his interest in her undergarments I’m not sure Snowman’s quite thought this plan through either.

I checked out Royal Jelly on a whim after reading Chains and wondered the exact same thing. Although maybe she has some weird biology thing where every orifice collects genetic material to be used for fertilization… but then again, that makes just as little sense and brings up even more questions. Like why would it seem like a good idea in any context to connect someone’s mouth to their reproductive system?

    1. Farla says:

No, it says that she’s only fertilized the usual way. Storing it could make sense in context of bugs being weird and the fact she’s supposed to be fertilizing lots of eggs, but it’s definitely not what’s happening. I was thinking maybe it’s a nutrient thing, but that wasn’t mentioned either.

It’s because the original prompt was for bukkake, so everything’s setting up for that. But the fact the biology doesn’t line up bothers me.

So I spent the weekend finally reading Homestuck. After much slogging I reached Act 2, but I still don’t know what a carapace is! I feel cheated.

    1. Niesse says:

The Wayward Vagabond is a carapace! You will have seen him. But yes, the carapacing doesn’t really start until… ooh, about page 3000.

Just be happy you didn’t get into Homestuck for the trolls.

(It gets better from Act 1, by the way. Don’t give up.)

Troll fans deserve what they get.
