Pokeauthors Special Spotlight: Reducto ad Absurdum Edition

We jump ahead to the recent past. In February I reviewed this non-fic and the results were simply amazing. The author blocked me so I lost my own responses, but they’re impressive anyway.

Non-stories are banned on this site. This belongs elsewhere.

there are plenty of non stories on this site and they aren’t banned and I talked about rude comments in the summary of the list.

God I am so sick of this argument. I point out that’s because the mods are overworked and they still ran the risk of losing their story at any moment, then told them to read the posting guidelines.

I did read that because since I’m on a laptop, it won’t allow me to publish any new work until I’ve read and agreed to the rules and guidelines.

I said uh huh so what did it say about non-story entries?

Yes, what’s in the Entries Not Allowed section are things that have been seen on this site for quite a while…

I reiterated why that’s a bad argument and also tried to explain that it’s inconsiderate to clutter up the archive with this stuff. At this point they blocked me, but kept sending me messages for some unfathomable reason:

Oh actually while we’re on the subject, I need you to do a quick favor for me if it’s possible.

okay. Also I’m not sure if you got my previous message but I need a quick favor from you for a sec.

While I can understand not knowing that blocking prevents me from reading PMs, how in the world do you not make the connection that blocking means I can’t reply?

I noticed the story updated since then, so I checked back to look at the second chapter and found this:

guys, this is a serious message that I need to get across. The reason I say not to make rude comments on my stories is because first off, I don’t take kindly to that kind of stuff at all. And second, the comment may ensue in conflict or a severe argument and it could end with someone getting hurt.

If you say something in a review that’s very hurtful or something like that, someone else might see it and if what you said was something bad such as ‘kill yourself’ or anything of the sort, whoever sees it could either, get you banned from the site or get the police involved, because if you tell or pressure someone to enflict harm on themselves and it results in death or hospitalization, you will be held eccountable for anything that happens to them. That’s why I don’t promote rude comments because people will actually get hurt, killed, or put in jail for doing that. Thank you, for taking the time for reading this important A/N.

In fairness I can’t remember if this was posted when the story first went up (I seem to recall it having two chapters to begin with), but this is still such a wild chain of reasoning. And judging from their first message, they seem to think my review counts under what they’re talking about, so they know full well what actual flaming looks like and they still can’t distinguish between that and neutral comments.

Their third chapter is just gushing over the fact that they got… 100 views.

Surprisingly, since then they seem to have turned the fic into actual story content and also placed it in crossovers where it belongs; looking at the reviews, it seems that I wasn’t the only one who objected to them breaking the rules, so someone must have convinced them to change it eventually.
