I did a lot of OC submissions before starting to review in earnest, so I’ll cover the interesting responses I got to those before we move on. For those who haven’t been following the thread, I’ve been submitting Chara everywhere, with a dash of Havan (from The Reconstruction) when I feel slightly more charitable, and Solomon (based on Lazarus from I Miss the Sunrise) for stories with pokemon characters.
Oh, and, we still haven’t fixed that text color problem, so you might want to hit ctrl+A. Edit: have so dammit.
I would prefer to be credited anonymously for this character.
Name: Solomon
Nickname: I think “Solomon” is already a pretty impressive name! Just say he chose it on purpose after reading scripture or something.
Species: Girafarig
Type: Outlaw hunter? You don’t say what all of these entail so I’m a little confused.
Rank: C
Moveset: Nasty Plot, Confusion, Frustration, Astonish
Personality: Smarmy, boisterous, and aggressive. He believes himself to be a superior lifeform above everyone else’s petty struggles. His manner of speaking is curt and coarse. He enjoys getting into fights. He’s pretty erratic and a little nutty. He can focus well when he’s working on a specific task, though.
Human Appearance: Blond hair, white skin, and red eyes. He has youthful features.
Hybrid appearance: His skin turns the color of his hair and his face elongates. His eyes become larger and more innocent-looking. However, when he gets angry or aggressive, his face shifts to look more like a girafarig’s dark, toothy tail head.
Clothing: Worn but hardy traveling gear. He’s on the move a lot.
Backstory: Solomon has a freak mutation that gives him a unique ability: at will, he can amplify the processing power of his brain a hundredfold, effectively stopping time from his perspective. This allows him to make dozens of complex tactical decisions in the blink of an eye, making him an unparalleled battle commander. The transcendent view of time and reality this grants him made him believe that he was a superior lifeform, “the next stage in evolution”, and he is now fighting for fame and glory.
Romance: I have no strong opinions on this.
Additional Info: Solomon is a poor personal combatant. He needs the support of others to fight effectively. He is best suited at staying behind the front lines and using his ability to provide tactical advice to his allies. He understands this, and is trying to amass a group of followers who can fight for him. For this reason, he will generally try to convince his opponents to fight for him before engaging in violence. He has the telepathic prowess to communicate with a large number of people at once, so at the theoretical upper limit of his power, he could single-handedly command an army.Solomon is a bit of a tongue-in-cheek meta character; his abilities and personality are purposefully evocative of RPG players. You can use this as a rule of thumb to fill in any gaps I don’t cover here.(Also, you should probably make the text of your story selectable so people can copy/paste the form into here instead of having to flip back and forth.)
And how will I do that?
What do you mean??????? He hasn’t shown up in this fic in 9 chapters, so probably a reject.

The Rose Talonflame flies to a new tomorrow. Also, I would prefer to be credited for this character anonymously. Feel free to follow up with me if you need further details.
Name: Chara (pronounced like “character”)
Nickname(s): They sometimes refer to themselves as “The Demon That Comes When You Call Its Name”.
Alias(es): None.
Title(s): Nope.
Age: 10
Home Region: Kalos
APPEARANCE
Height: 4 feet.
Weight: Underweight, 90-100 pounds maybe.
Eye shape: Large and innocent-looking.
Eye color: Red.
Hair color: Mahogany.
Hairstyle: Straight, chin-length
Build: Thin and gaunt.
Extra: They have rosy, dimpled cheeks.
APPAREL
Everyday/Traveling: A green-and-yellow striped sweater, brown shorts, and hardy shoes.
Accessories: A heart-shaped locket labeled “Best Friends Forever”. They wear it everywhere. They also always carry a knife.
Personality:
They have an abrasive personality and are not good at hiding it. They talk stiltedly, with a large vocabulary for someone their age that is both impressive and a little unnerving. They smile and laugh at inappropriate times, especially when other people are suffering. They don’t like or care about any of the people around them, and are not good at pretending to. Anyone who is put off by that sort of thing will probably not want to work with, help, or even be around them.
When Chara decides to do something, they do it no matter what and against all odds. They have a high pain tolerance and no undue regard for their own body, so they don’t tend to be slowed down by fear for their own well-being or by non-debilitating injuries. They have an uncanny ability to predict what their opponents will do before they do it. In fact, they can predict all sorts of things, to the point that it sometimes seems as though they are able to see the future.
Sometimes they may be caught speaking to someone who doesn’t appear to be there. They talk about what they want to do next, what the other person wants them to do next, how much fun they are or aren’t having. They are always facing south when they do this.
Likes: Violence. They enjoy battling with pokemon, and they particularly enjoy killing humans. It’s really funny how the people around here don’t seem to mind if you have deadly weapons out all the time and never expect you to use them on humans even if you’ve just disabled all of their weapons and they’re completely helpless. It’s hilarious how people travel around alone except for their pokemon and aren’t really expected to be anywhere in particular by a given time, so it takes ages for anyone to notice if they go missing. Of course, it’s also interesting that there are potentially world-ending weapons pretty much everywhere, just sitting around waiting to be wielded by anyone powerful enough to take them. So, that makes for a good long-term goal.
They also like chocolate.
Dislikes: Interacting with people. As previously mentioned, they hate people and aren’t very good at hiding it.
Fears: Humans. Failing at their goals.
Strengths: Not sure what you mean by this? I believe these have already been covered. Chara is extremely determined and good at getting what they want. They are extremely good at pokemon battles and fights in general, so good it sometimes seems like they can predict their opponents’ moves in advance. They are very good at knowing how to efficiently kill people and get away with it.
Weaknesses:
Chara is physically frail, and it is possible they could be overpowered in a direct fight.
As previously mentioned, Chara has next to no social skills and will have trouble interacting with anyone.
Others find Chara very disconcerting and are unlikely to help or go near them.
Hobbies: They like cooking.
Ambitions/Dreams: To eradicate humanity.
History: Chara comes from a small town where they met a Pokemon Professor, received a starter, and set off to become a powerful trainer. Other people from that town are aware of their existence, but seem to have trouble recalling anything specific about their past. Their mother appears to be alive, but occasionally they may say something that would seem to imply they are an orphan. Sometimes when they are feeling nostalgic they may speak with vague, distant fondness about having once had a best friend who would do anything for them, and who gave them the heart-shaped “Best Friends Forever” locket they wear everywhere, but it’s unclear who they could possibly be talking about.
POKEMON TEAM (up to six)
1) Chesnaught
Gender: M
Personality: Overexcited puppy. Utterly adores Chara and tries to imitate them whenever possible, but he’s too wussy to really pull it off. He acts really tough and intimidating and loves to make scary faces, but his confident facade will crumple in the face of extreme danger. He makes incredibly gruesome and morbid threats to other pokemon about how he’ll kill them and everyone they love, but they’re so over-the-top they’re often hard to take seriously. Perpetually bored and craves entertainment; they consider fighting alongside Chara to be the best fun they’ve ever had.
Movepool: Spiky Shield, Grass Knot, Needle Arm, Leech Seed
How they met: Starter.
Relationship: Chara thinks Chesnaught’s devotion is cute and encourages it when possible.
Hmm, I don’t know, I’ll have to consider this character. Chara seems a bit out there, and if I’m right, she’s not human at all, or at least thinks and makes herself such. I don’t plan on writing anything supernatural besides the Ghost type, and Chara is outside that line.
No, Chara is human, they’re just a misanthrope. They are indeed out there, but that’s part of the fun! Test your skills a little bit. You don’t have to use them for anything major, but a one-off encounter could be fun.

Okay then. I would prefer to be credited anonymously for this character:Name: Havan
personality:
In a word, “calculating”. Havan is very driven. When he wants something, he will get it by any means possible. Throughout his life people have swarmed him with praise and platitudes about how special he is, and he has let it go to his head. He believes that he is owed rewards for doing good works, and it is for this reason that he constantly acts the “hero” in every possible situation. He is extremely charming and kind (though at times overbearing) and will always volunteer to help people with their problems, but this is all an act. Anyone who reneges on promises of favor or who does not reward him appropriately will regret it; he can easily use his good standing among the community to ruin their life while keeping his heroic reputation intact. But despite his cynical behavior, he does earnestly believe that this is what a “hero” is, and he loves the role (provided everyone plays to his script). This will make him highly suspicious of anyone else who acts “heroically”, as he assumes they’re doing it for the same reasons as him.
He’s very good at keeping his true motives hidden, however. He projects a friendly, larger-than-life personality and gets along exceptionally well with just about everyone. He is very good at getting people to like and trust him, as well as saving face in awkward situations.
Object of power: ring of Palkia [I hope rings are acceptable? You seemed very insistent on only specific types being allowed but I’m not sure which are still available.]
Pokemon 1: Alakazam
Pokemon 2: Toxicroak
Pokemon 3: Kangaskhan
Pokemon 4: Rapidash
Any specific moves that Your character has: Spacial Rend.
relation to Austin: None.
relation to pokemon 1: Aloof friendship; some fondness, but mostly sees her in terms of what she can do for him.
Special talents: Good at theater performances.
Oookay then? Anyone know what this is referring to?
Is it still open?Indeed it is, I just realised that directly before my exams was not the time to start writing a fanfiction, but I am still taking characters, if only to make sure I come back to the story.

Okay then. I would prefer to be credited anonymously for this character:
Name: Chara
Pokemon: Tropius and Tauros. Tropius utterly adores Chara and tries to imitate them whenever possible, but he’s still young and often just comes off looking ridiculous. He’s good at intimidating other pokemon. The tauros meekly obeys all orders and seems a little confused at what’s going on around it.
Appearance: Small, thin body type. Chin-length mahogany hair, rosy dimpled cheeks, and red eyes. Wears a green-and-yellow striped sweater and brown pants. They have a heart-shaped locket labeled “Best Friends Forever” they keep on them at all times.
Their goal in life is to kill as many people as possible. Right now, they’re just playing, exploring things and trying to get stronger. It’s particularly interesting that there are these “rangers” who go out to remote locations all on their own and who don’t screen prospective applicants very thoroughly.
They get along decently with pokemon and enjoy hanging out with them, so that’s a nice side benefit to this whole ranging thing.
Battle Style: Aggressive and efficient. They’re very knowledgeable of battle tactics, type matchups, etc. They always seem to have an intuitive understanding of their opponent’s fighting style and are generally effective at countering it. After they defeat a human opponent, they will kill them if they can get away with it.
I am curious as to how you came up with the character though. Are they based on anyone in particular? The character is a tad dark, but it should be interesting to try and incorporate them into the story.-H
Their gender is purposefully ambiguous; you can pick whatever you like. They’re based on a character from a video game I like.-H
This is one of my favorites. “A tad” dark? What on Earth did the other submissions look like? Props for not immediately gendering Chara, also.
Is it still open?Oh yes. Would you like to send one in?
May 4
Yes. I would like to be credited anonymously. If any section was filled out unsatisfactorily, feel free to ask me for clarifying details.
Name: Chara (pronounced like “character”)
Age: 14
Birthday: 13th December
Year in the Academy: Freshman
Home Region: Johto
Physical Appearance: Chin-length mahogany hair, bright red eyes, and pale skin with rosy cheeks. They are androgynous enough in appearance and dress that people who expect to be able to tell someone’s gender just by looking at them will be very confused. Their build is small and thin.
Clothes: A green-and-yellow striped sweater and brown shorts. They also have a heart-shaped locket labeled “Best Friends Forever” they wear everywhere.
Contest Dress: Doesn’t do contests.
Tournament Apparel: Same outfit.
Dress Clothes: Same as their normal clothes. They don’t care much for formality.
Family and Relationships: Just the standard set of PC relationships… but there are some oddities. Other people from town are aware of their existence, but seem to have trouble recalling anything specific about their past. Their mother appears to be alive, but occasionally they may say something that would seem to imply they are an orphan. Sometimes when they are feeling nostalgic they may speak with vague, distant fondness about having once had a best friend who would do anything for them, and who gave them the “Best Friends Forever” locket they wear everywhere, but it’s unclear who they could possibly be talking about.
Skills or Special Talents: When Chara decides to do something, they do it no matter what and against all odds.
Chara is also very good at killing people. They know exactly where to strike to kill quickly, exactly where to strike to kill slowly, and exactly where and how to hide the evidence so no one suspects.
Hobbies and Interests: Murder. In terms of more typical hobbies, Chara likes weapons, particularly knives. They have some interest in metalworking.
Classes/ Preferred Course Study: Battle course and pokemon research course. They have no interest in anything else.
Methods of Learning: They are surprisingly eager to learn and easy to teach, provided the course material holds their interest. They will calmly and attentively absorb knowledge from lectures, but they learn best by doing. They are largely self-taught and have done their own research and practice in the past, so they are likely to take their education into their own hands if they want to pursue a specific subject.
Personality: Chara has an abrasive personality and is not good at hiding it. They talk stiltedly, with a large vocabulary for someone their age that is both impressive and a little unnerving. They smile and laugh at inappropriate times, especially when other people are suffering. They don’t like or care about any of the people around them, and are not good at pretending to.
Friends: Chara hates all humans, but can get along reasonably well with pokemon, which are the only people they would ever consider “friends”. However, even these friendships are often aloof. Chara largely sees others in terms of what they can do for Chara, so they prefer pokemon who are loyal and will do what they’re told without question.
Future Goals and Dreams: For now, they’re just playing, exploring things and trying to get stronger.
Likes: Knives. Battling with pokemon. Killing humans.
Dislikes: People. Large crowds. Interaction.
Fears: People. Weakness. Failure.
Battling Style: Chara is an aggressive battler who shows no mercy. They attack quickly and ruthlessly, with little regard for the well-being of their own pokemon. They always seem to be able to intuit their opponents’ strategies in advance, and can often mount an effective counter. This makes them come off as experienced and effective despite their reckless battling style.
Training: Chara trains alone. They like grass types, as well as anything with sharp edges (e.g. scyther, bisharp)
Other:
If they are alone with a human or group of humans that they can hurt or kill and get away with it, they will do so. If they are in a situation where they have to interact non-violently with other humans, they will attempt to play nice out of self-preservation. As mentioned above, they aren’t particularly good at it.
Sometimes they may be caught speaking to someone who doesn’t appear to be there. They talk about what they want to do next, what the other person wants them to do next, how much fun they are or aren’t having. They are always facing south when they do this.
None of Chara’s pokemon have nicknames.
Chara always carries a knife.
Pokemon:
Species: meganium
Level: High. 40? 50? Doesn’t have to change much.
Gender: M
Ability: Overgrow
Moves: Magical Leaf, Grass Knot, Poison Powder, Petal Blizzard
Personality: Overexcited puppy. Utterly adores Chara and tries to imitate them whenever possible, but he’s too wussy to really pull it off. He acts really tough and intimidating and loves to make scary faces, but his confident facade will crumple in the face of extreme danger. He makes incredibly gruesome and morbid threats to other pokemon about how he’ll kill them and everyone they love, but they’re so over-the-top they’re often hard to take seriously. Perpetually bored and craves entertainment; he considers fighting alongside Chara to be the best fun he’s ever had.
Battle Experience: He was Chara’s starter, so he’s been around for a while and has a lot of experience. He has also had experience killing people.
—
Species: skiddo
Level: Lower than 32, but close to it. May evolve during the course of the story.
Gender: M
Ability: Sap Sipper
Moves: Tackle, Tail Whip, Vine Whip, Worry Seed
Personality: Adores Chara much like the meganium does, but lacks the strength to commit. They claim they would do anything for Chara and earnestly believe it, but if Chara pushes them to do something really dangerous they might balk. They’re obedient, but kind of a wuss and a crybaby. They are a little unnerved by how murderous Chara is and sometimes wondered if they were doing the right thing, but Chara has convinced them it’s for the best and that humans are just evil monsters. And if Chara says something is true, then it must be! He’s still too squeamish to kill humans directly, a fact that Chara finds to be a great disappointment. They’re working on it.
Battle Experience: Chara has had the skiddo for a while, about as long as the meganium, so he’s had practice. This hasn’t improved his hesitance and general demeanor much, though, so Chara will tend to keep him in reserve and let the meganium take on the tough battles.
Also, I’d hate to say this, but please be a bit more creative. And far less dark and twisted.
May 5
I’d say it takes a lot of creativity to Pokemonize a character from a different work — and even more creativity to use them effectively in a story! See it as an opportunity to hone your writing skills. And let’s be honest, Chara is far more original than most of the OCs we’ve seen over the course of our lives, yeah? What’s important is that characters have unique and interesting quirks that can get the plot rolling; where’s the drama without an antagonist?
You can pick whatever gender you want for Chara, I purposefully left their gender ambiguous. (“They” is also a perfectly acceptable pronoun for an androgynous entity.)
May 5Still though, it’s still technically not yours or mine. It belongs to the creator Undertale and I don’t feel it counts as an OC (original character). Plus, I don’t think this story will go as deep and dark as to have murders, maybe some other one I will write will, but I’m defiantly not doing that at this time.
I hope you understand, I just don’t feel comfortable writing Chara in, especially since she’s not owned by either of us, so legally I can’t either
May 5
By that logic you can’t legally write any fanfiction at all, you know. :p Everyone is influenced by other works, and I’d argue this character is more inspired by Chara than a direct lifting, since translation to a different setting necessarily changes a lot. But if Chara is too dark for the tone you want, I understand. How about this one, then?
Name: Havan D’Rath
Age: 18
Birthday: 10th January
Year in the Academy: Senior
Home Region: Unova
Physical Appearance: Havan is of average height, with a stocky build. His eyes are a brilliant blue and he has platinum blond hair. He has an attractive, baby-like face and a charming smile. He pays attention to his appearance and usually looks very professional.
Clothes: Havan likes the colors blue and white in his wardrobe. He favors regal, high-class attire and definitely has immaculate formal wear if he ever needs it. Most of his clothes feature the flag or emblem of Unova in some way. However, he can be convinced to change into a more informal outfit if his high-class presentation bothers the people he hangs out with. He always aims to please!
Contest Dress: Doesn’t do contests.
Tournament Apparel: Decorative armor. It looks like polished sky-blue plate mail.
Dress Clothes: A white suit with a blue tie and accessories. He wears a pin displaying the Unovan crest.
Family and Relationships: Nothing notable. He gets along well with his family and others. He’s popular with authority figures and may know some personally.
Skills or Special Talents: He has excellent social skills and is very good at convincing people to help him, especially those in positions of authority. The teachers and administrators like him. He’s also well-practiced at pokemon battles, though he still has room to improve.
Hobbies and Interests: Poetry and theater. He’s an excellent actor, and he loves dramatic dialogue. This sometimes bleeds over into his interactions; he tends to have a very dramatic, theatrical way of speaking, especially when he can cast himself as a noble hero against a terrible villain.
Classes/ Preferred Course Study: Battle course and caretaking course.
Methods of Learning: Havan is good at group learning. He’ll typically volunteer to help other students study and practice, which helps him learn too. He’s generally good at understanding things on a first pass, but isn’t good at learning from his mistakes if he does screw up.
Friends: He likes people who are useful to him, such as well-connected high-class individuals. He particularly likes people who will do what he tells them to do and who won’t think too much or ask too many awkward questions.
Future Goals and Dreams: To be the very best! Well, there is one thing in particular… A year ago, he was approached by a priestess of the local region, who believed him to be the chosen one of the local prophecy. The gods had chosen him, he was destined to nab an awesome god pokemon and save the world, you know the rest. Havan was obviously thrilled by this and focuses on fulfilling the prophecy as a primary goal. However, the priestess is not yet certain that her reading is accurate. She may give him tests or trials (quests similar to those you usually see in jRPGs) to prove his worth. It’s been a while, though, and he’s getting a bit annoyed. The gods had chosen him, and only him, she said. When does he get what was promised?
Whether or not he really is the chosen one or if the priestess got it wrong is something I leave up to you. However, note that if she chooses someone else, there will be hell to pay. Havan will be very displeased by such a betrayal.
Likes: Things. He loves rare, shiny, or otherwise interesting objects. He’d love to investigate some ruins and come up with some lost treasure, but he’s kind of busy for that right now.
Dislikes: People who don’t give him what he wants. Not getting what he wants. Other “heroes”.
Fears: Failure. Being exposed. Not living up to people’s expectations. He also has a niggling worry that the priestess is just stringing him along.
Battling Style: He is a patient, strategic planner, though he tends to prefer straightforwardness over weaving complex traps. He’s well-read in battle strategy and pays attention to type matchups, pokemon behavior, and held items.
Training: He likes to train in groups. He prefers strong, useful pokemon who can cement his heroic image (i.e. kangaskhan, rapidash), and for this reason he tends to avoid dark and poison types.
Other: If Unova is unpopular in this area, he will hide any regalia and downplay his origins. He’s a fair-weather nationalist. If the academy is located in Unova or an area favorable to it, he will do the reverse, playing up the nationalism about how Unova is the greatest and he’s so proud to be able to serve it. He loves the opportunity to say godawfully melodramatic things like “My life… for Unova!”
POKEMON:
Nickname: Adi
Level: High? Doesn’t really matter.
Species: gothitelle
Gender: F
Ability: Competitive
Special Moves: TMs. Havan has the resources to have already bought them.
Moves: Thunderbolt, Psychic, Secret Power, Thief
Personality: Loyal, but increasingly concerned about how obsessed Havan is getting with the prophecy. Composed and assertive towards other pokemon.
Battle Experience: She was his starter, so she’s had a lot of experience. She’s very good at fighting.
Nickname: Cort
Level: mid-30s maybe?
Species: krokorok
Gender: M
Ability: Intimidate
Moves: Dig, Sand Tomb, Sand Attack, Bite
Personality: Loyal, but similarly nervous about Havan’s obsession. Very meek and submissive, he’ll do whatever Havan asks him to. Havan frequently uses him for grunt work and heavy labor.
Battle Experience: He caught him some time ago, so he’s less experienced than Adi. He’s quick to learn, though.
Nickname: Santes
Level: It’s a one-stage, so doesn’t really matter, I think.
Species: audino
Gender: F
Ability: Healer
Special Moves: TM? HM? Tutored? Bred? These moves may be taught later on, or will be worked on later.
Moves: Heal Pulse, Helping Hand, Play Nice, Thunderbolt
Personality: Extremely chipper and energetic, at times perhaps even “off the wall”. Somewhat impulsive. But she always helps those in need, and will get serious if someone is hurt. She’s very good at healing. Other pokemon find her amusing at times but grating after prolonged exposure.
Battle Experience: She was caught recently, so almost none. She’s surprisingly talented, though.
May 5Much better. I like this character much more. More creative. There are many more possibilities to write about. Everything seems to check out ok, though that priestess thing I’m not sure how to write it about. I’ll figure something out.
Personally I find him hilarious. His character reminds me of a much more flamboyant mixture of Malfoy and Lockhart, with a bit of Tamaki from Oran High School Host Club.
Also thank you for giving me a senior. I needed one.
Regarding personality, does he see himself as the hero in a sense that if he does not fix or meddle in something, nobody else will? Or does he just have an arrogant, god like complex in general? Also, does he tend to fail in a ridiculous way due to this character trait? Sorry, but I’m already thinking about something funny regarding this…
Finally regarding that, yes, while true Fanficion is by definition illegal, we give credit to the fact that the series/game/comic/etc. is not ours or created by us and are owned by the respective owners. However, submitting an OC just like a character to a noncrossover or any SYOC story from a game or any other work like Chara insinuates that you created that character and they are projects of your own imagination.
Thanks again.

[Regarding personality, does he see himself as the hero in a sense that if he does not fix or meddle in something, nobody else will? Or does he just have an arrogant, god like complex in general?]
Closer to the latter. He genuinely wants the praise and love people give to a hero, but there’s also some myopia in there, in that he thinks everyone is motivated by the same things as him. So, he sees no contradiction: he really thinks that heroes perform grand heroics for praise, adoration, and rewards rather than out of true ideals.
[Also, does he tend to fail in a ridiculous way due to this character trait?]
No. He’s very, very good at it, and knows how to gauge his chances and not overextend himself. His main weakness is that his childish anger can get the better of him if he’s slighted too much, causing him to become more impulsive and less strategic. But! I’m not too attached to this portrayal. If you think taking some liberties with him would make for a better story, go for it. He is intended for darker stories, so if you’re going for a lighthearted one you may have to.
Amazing. I’m also tickled by the fact that after all that, they didn’t even realize I just sent them another copyrighted character.
Is it still open?Yes it is. Sorry to get back to you this late, by the way.

Name: Chara. If forced to provide a last name, they will say “Smith”.
Age: 14
Gender: Whatever you want it to be.
Physical Description: They have chin-length mahogany hair, bright red eyes, and pale skin with rosy cheeks. They are androgynous enough in appearance and dress that people who expect to be able to tell someone’s gender just by looking at them will be very confused.
Clothing: A green-and-yellow striped sweater and brown shorts. They also wear a heart-shaped “Best Friends Forever” locket.
Personality: When Chara decides to do something, they do it no matter what and against all odds. They have a high pain tolerance and no undue regard for their own body, so they don’t tend to be slowed down by fear for their own well-being or by non-debilitating injuries.
Chara has an abrasive personality and is not good at hiding it.
Sometimes they may be caught speaking to someone who doesn’t appear to be there. They talk about what they want to do next, what the other person wants them to do next, how much fun they are or aren’t having. They are always facing south when they do this.
They always carry a knife.
Background: Chara comes from a small town where they met a Pokemon Professor, received a starter, and set off to become a powerful trainer.
They were able to pay the academy’s tuition without issue. They seem to have an inexhaustible supply of money. It’s not clear where they get it from.
Abilities: As previously mentioned, they’re highly determined. They also have an uncanny ability to predict what their opponents will do before they do it. In fact, they can predict all sorts of things, to the point that it sometimes seems as though they are able to see the future.
They’re very good at killing people. They know exactly where to hit, exactly how hard, and exactly how to hide the evidence so no one suspects.
Weaknesses: Terrible social skills, unnerving personality. Evil.
Battling Strategy: Chara is an aggressive battler who shows no mercy. They attack quickly and ruthlessly, with little regard for the well-being of their own pokemon. They always seem to be able to intuit their opponents’ strategies in advance, and can often mount an effective counter. This makes them come off as experienced and effective despite their reckless battling style.
Pokemon:
None of Chara’s pokemon have nicknames
Meganium
Gender: M
Personality: Overexcited puppy. Utterly adores Chara and tries to imitate them whenever possible, but he’s too wussy to really pull it off. He acts really tough and intimidating and loves to make scary faces, but his confident facade will crumple in the face of extreme danger. He makes incredibly gruesome and morbid threats to other pokemon about how he’ll kill them and everyone they love, but they’re so over-the-top they’re often hard to take seriously. Perpetually bored and craves entertainment; he considers fighting alongside Chara to be the best fun he’s ever had.
Background: Starter.
Relationship with Trainer: I believe his half of this has been covered. Chara finds his dedication amusing and encourages it, but is otherwise pretty distant and sees him largely as a tool. But they do appreciate his willingness to do anything for them.
Ability: Overgrow
Moves: Magical Leaf, Grass Knot, Poison Powder, Petal Blizzard
Gogoat
Gender: M
Background: Wild pokemon encountered shortly after Chara started their pokemon journey. Originally lived in the deep wilds.
Relationship with Trainer: I believe his half of the relationship has been covered. Chara is exasperated by his wussiness and annoyed by his unwillingness to commit. They’ll rely on the meganium for major battles.
Ability: Sap Sipper
Moves: Tackle, Tail Whip, Vine Whip, Worry Seed
I sent Havan after this. No response, and the fic hasn’t updated in months.

Full name: Chara. If forced to provide a last name, they will say “Smith”.
Gender: Whatever.
Age: 10
Race: White
Looks: They have chin-length mahogany hair, bright red eyes, and pale skin with rosy cheeks. They are androgynous enough in appearance and dress that people who expect to be able to tell someone’s gender just by looking at them will be very confused.
Height: Below average, 4 feet maybe?
Outfit: A green-and-yellow striped sweater and brown shorts. They also have a heart-shaped “Best Friends Forever” locket they wear everywhere. In cold weather, they wear a blue zipper hoodie and an orange scarf that seems much too large for them.
Swimsuit: Doesn’t go swimming.
Personality: When Chara decides to do something, they do it no matter what and against all odds. They have a high pain tolerance and no undue regard for their own body, so they don’t tend to be slowed down by fear for their own well-being or by non-debilitating injuries. They have an uncanny ability to predict what their opponents will do before they do it. Anyone who is put off by that sort of thing will probably not want to work with, help, or even be around them.
If they are in a situation where they have to interact non-violently with other humans, they will attempt to play nice out of self-preservation. As mentioned above, they aren’t particularly good at it.

Team (Its fine if they dont have a full team):
1. Meganium
2. Skiddo
3. Scyther
4. Bisharp
Moveset:
1. Magical Leaf, Grass Knot, Poison Powder, Petal Blizzard
2. Tackle, Tail Whip, Vine Whip, Worry Seed
others don’t really matter
Nature:
Doesn’t matter. Are you using these so you have a personality to go off of? You should just explicitly ask for personality, in that case.
Goal: For now, they’re just playing, exploring things and trying to get stronger.
If they are alone with a human or group of humans that they can hurt or kill and get away with it, they will do so.
Romance? No.
Any other info?

Omfg, is this Chara from Undertale? XD I love you for this XD
They are. Are you okay with using them?May 12
Name: Chara
Age(20, or 21): 20
Region and Town of origin(Where they live): Unova, Nuvema; however, they are a wanderer, and do not currently live there.
Pokemon(2 or 3. Also give most used moves, too): Meganium (Grass Knot, Poison Powder), skiddo (Vine Whip, Tackle, Worry Seed)
History: Chara comes from a small town where they met a Pokemon Professor, received a starter, and set off to become a powerful trainer. Sometimes when they are feeling nostalgic they may speak with vague, distant fondness about having once had a best friend who would do anything for them, and who gave them the heart-shaped “Best Friends Forever” locket they wear everywhere, but it’s unclear who they could possibly be talking about. It definitely isn’t Cheren or Bianca, despite those two nominally being their best friends.
Personality: When Chara decides to do something, they do it no matter what and against all odds. They have a high pain tolerance and no undue regard for their own body, so they don’t tend to be slowed down by fear for their own well-being or by non-debilitating injuries.

DrabsageAwesome! Accepted! Say, is this based off of Undertale Chara?
Do you mind if I make your character a protagonist antagonist mix(Both good and bad)?
I forgot to add it in the forum. So can you tell me what your character looks like?May 12
Yes, this is Undertale Chara. So… that’s what they look like. Chin-length mahogany hair, rosy cheeks, red eyes, green-and-yellow striped sweater. They have the locket, too.
You can do whatever you want with them. The fun of this (for me, anyway) is seeing how you interpret the prompt.
I’m sorry. But after thinking about it, this may not be the best character for a protagonist, so Im going to have her as either the leader, or a commander of team rocket.
That sounds exciting! =)Actually a pretty weird choice — why would Chara be in favor of a group of nasty humans who hurt pokemon? I’d expect someone actually familiar with Chara to have a better read on them, but I guess they stopped at “they’re the villain”.

Relevance/relations to other characters in the story: None.

They always carry a knife. They are not from around here.
Thanks for your OC, sorry for not replying sooner but I’ve been away with my school. Your the 2nd person to submit a character and since I’m using the first 3 good ones, Chara will be used in the story though I’m confused, does she have pokemon or… ?
Oh sorry, I forgot to include pokemon. Chara has an extremely powerful meganium that thinks they’re the greatest person ever and tries to imitate them as much as possible, a timid, childish skiddo who also loves Chara but thinks they’re a bit scary, a scyther, and a bisharp.May 12
Being murderhappy creepy child is their entire character. If that doesn’t fit your story I understand, but you really should have been clearer about what kind of OCs you wanted in that case. If you don’t give people any specifications or limitations, eventually a weirdo like me is going to show up submit a murderkid!
I do have two other characters that are less dark if you still want an OC. Do you want a main character, or a minor one-off encounter?

Name: Kiri Shesha
Age: teen
Appearance (face, hair, cloths, ect…): Utterly unremarkable and downright forgettable. She has extremely plain, boring clothes that are always spotless.
Skills/hobbies: Battling and traveling.
Characteristics/personality: She hangs out in remote areas. She’s mute but capable of communicating telepathically, and hates being in confined or well-populated places. Relatedly, she has an invisible and always-on “personal space bubble” of fluctuating shape around her at all times. She avoids anything messy and won’t move around in rainy, dusty, muddy, etc conditions. She has no interest in traveling with others and will never ask to battle, though she’ll always accept one.
How they come into the story: Encounter on the road or in the wilderness.
Relevance/relations to other characters in the story: None.
Pokemon team (if required): Nidoran, furfrou, doduo. If encountered a second time, her team will change to three bunnelby, bidoof, and a magikarp.
Anything else you want to add: Her team changes often but is almost always made of common pokemon and generally they’re physically focused normal or fighting types. None of the pokemon ever use difficult or elemental moves, just stuff that can be accomplished with kicking, punching, etc. The only exception is that a psychic pokemon may use a few psychic moves. They fight silently and completely in tune with their trainer, and can power through status or flinch effects like they don’t even feel them. Despite this, she isn’t a particularly tough trainer to beat. Opposing pokemon find her pokemon creepy.
No response, and the story hasn’t updated since I submitted.

You said we could submit trainer encounters, so here’s one for you:
Age: Teen.
Gender: Female.
Clothes: Extremely plain, boring clothes, always spotless.
Appearance: Forgettably ordinary.

None of the pokemon ever use difficult or elemental moves, just stuff that can be accomplished with kicking, punching, etc. The only exception is that a psychic pokemon may use a few psychic moves. She avoids anything messy and won’t move around in rainy, dusty, muddy, etc conditions. She has no interest in traveling with others and will never ask to battle, though she’ll always accept one. She doesn’t really care about winning or losing and won’t react much to either outcome.
Brief Backstory: A member of the Shesha clan, a bunch of boring people spread out across the regions who share these quirks and never seem to do anything but hike around with their pokemon.
You don’t specify region, so I’ll split this up into several characters.
Kanto/Johto Name: Madhava Shesha Team when encountered: Mankey, stantler, rattata, sentret, geodude. Team if encountered again: Slowpoke, krabby, shellder.
Hoenn Name: Padma Shesha Team when encountered: Spinda, sandshrew, skarmory, zigzagoon. Team if encountered again: Skitty, shroomish, abra, whismur, nincada.
Sinnoh Name: Anila Shesha Team when encountered: Four bunary. Team if encountered again: Aipom, hoothoot, munchlax, azurill, meditite.
Unova Name: Jyoti Shesha Team when encountered: Zangoose, seviper, two patrat, minccino, durant. Team if encountered again: Patrat, lillipup, durant, throh.
Kalos Name: Kiri Shesha Team when encountered: Nidoran, furfrou, doduo. Team if encountered again: Three bunnelby, bidoof, magikarp.
Thank you for the syoc this is going to be an interesting character to put into the story as seeing as she’s a mute but i do have an idea on how she could be encountered and since you said she hates enclosed spaces caves would be ruled out all of your teams are interesting you definitely thought this character through it seems i love it when people put interesting oc’s in a story and this is a very interesting one she will definitely be put in i love it this character definitely made the list and i will work her the best way i can into the story but if i don’t put it in this story i will into another Pokemon story again thank you for the oc and i hope you enjoy the story
…
“A tad” dark?”
I think it’s just a general tendency to underestimate stuff that can be taken as insults. You know, like how people keep telling Farla that instead of saying, “You make a lot of grammar errors. Look for a beta-reader,” she should be saying, “You have a bit of a problem with grammar and make a few mistakes. Maybe look for a beta-reader?”
So instead of calling Chara dark, they try to soften it to “a tad dark,” since some people can be touchy about their OCs.
That said, I actually don’t consider Chara that dark compared to other villainous characters. Darkness mostly comes from how other characters die in a last stand against a nigh-inhuman abomination, and that won’t come across in brief description. As it is, they’re just a happy murderer, which is pretty mild as these things go. I mean, they don’t feast on the flesh of the living or anything.
“Actually a pretty weird choice — why would Chara be in favor of a group of nasty humans who hurt pokemon?”
Well, this Chara is closer to the “personification of munchkin tendencies and general gamer mentality” rather than a fleshed-out character, so I can see them joining Team Rocket for cool loot and more living weapons. They would probably still want to kill anyone on TR, but, hey, that’s a plan for the future.
Ngl, I would also be a bit miffed if I sent out a call for OCs and people started filling in the form with characters from other fandoms. Some people obviously don’t care, but for me it’d definitely be different when piecing together a cast — less wiggle room, less interpretation.
And I would completely accept that explanation, but the weird thing is that’s never what they say! It’s always “THE GOVERNMENT HELICOPTERS ARE COMING FORGIVE ME FATHER FOR I HAVE SINNED”. Why such a production?
Also, the point of this is to make people realize SYOC stories are terrible ideas, so, feature not bug.
(How did you fix the text color???)
I was about to ask you how you fixed the text color! Maybe this is what the dimensional shifters are for?!
You just change the font color to the one that’s not quite black – farthest right box on the dropdown. Pure black registers as neutral/no color set, which then flips to white on this sort of template.
EDIT: It was supposed to be a reply to @act
Actually, yeah, forgot to comment on it. I’ve encountered a similar problem in role-playing, and I generally ask players to significantly alter their characters instead of simply ripping them off popular media. Obviously, legal issues are not a concern, and it isn’t so much an issue of interpretation (not my problem, I’m a GM), but it can be incredibly distracting when you know the source and generally best avoided.
Obviously, being inspired by various media is inevitable, but one can take the core concept and spin it into something more unique and fitting the specific scenario.
Now, with this Chara specifically, I would say getting rid of the locket and changing the name is all that’s needed. They’re altered already to fit the Pokemon setting enough that the similarity to Chara from Undertale is in the general concept, which I think is perfectly acceptable. But I can understand people being peeved at it.
