NaReWriMo 2021 – Day 1 (17)
Ah, January. I was feeling lazy and I was pretty sure the fic output would be low, so I let it build up. This covers January 1st-2nd. Some isekai, some no-pokemon AUs, an actual canon divergence fic with Jessie and James, an otherwise decently written fic that for some reason wanted videogame key item mechanics included.

So, this summer I took part in a fanfic game where people pretended to be other people, and I finally went back to review the last fics because it’s that time of year.

More fics brushing up against the “people and pokemon” issue, but all in a different way than usual. Run-on sentences long enough to strangle. A story about a hacked pokemon who still functions like their own person and a story that’s supposedly about pokemon being real where the pokemon are mindless balls of obedience.

A story about someone who’s getting strongarmed into not being a trainer, a story about someone kicked out of home for wanting to be a trainer, gardevoir continue to be a magnet for people’s shitty thoughts on gender, a lot of wonky phrasing.

A Mewtwo fic that seems to be taking the side of “people and pokemon” as well as better written but more creepy porn.

Two fics with possibly unreliable pokemon narrators about how awesome trainers are, porn, low effort writing.

More trainer stuff today, including what’s supposed to be a badass Ash fic that’s actually just his dad doing everything for him. Also yet another fic where pokemon are humans to an absurd degree and something I think is kpop. (more…)
