Pokeauthors Special Spotlight: On Servitude

“Let’s say the two are walking down the street. They’re conversing about some topic or another. And someone overhears her calling her master “mother/mom.” I just thought that would be weird.”

This one went all over the place, but the main topic of discussion was whether it made sense for pokemon to call humans “Master”.

The Other Pokeauthors, Part 52

“This kid is a genius. He’s just not mature. He’s socially secluded and has a speech impediment that causes him to stutter MUCH more than a normal person when trying to form a complex sentence. While other children were off playing bootleg-soccer, he was screwing around with the toaster that wouldn’t work. His mind developed differently than others, and therefore is more attuned to technicality than social interaction. His vocabulary is so huge that it makes his speech impediment WORSE. The only reason he can talk to characters in this chapter is because his responses are short, and not very complicated.

This isn’t more morally dubious than several other fictions that I’ve read, which involved a trainer adopting pokémon, anthropomorphic, female pokémon and then later screwing them in a one-shot chapter of a series of one-shots. Totally consensual incestal adoption! At least I’m not THAT screwed in the head to make a trainer x gallade x blaziken x delphox x hermaphrodite rattata gay orgy vore inside a breadbox at an abandoned leaf-spring factory.

If they were going to be together and the age gap bothered you, the age gap between my parents is twelve years. The age gap between him and the riolu is eight.

As far as I’m concerned, you ARE my beta reader.”

The Other Pokeauthors, Part 50

“This entire argument literally has nothing to do with anything. You’re going on about grammar issues, some BS capitalization, and how the story itself isn’t what you want it to be. Are you serious?

First of all, capitalization with Pokemon is subjective, and your argument is so off it’s not even funny. I really hate to pick someone apart, but my goodness. You CAN’T be serious. And the deviations from the game. I hate to see how you reacted watching Pokemon Origins, because THOSE deviate from the games left, right, and center.

Secondly, you are LITERALLY picking on someone who doesn’t even speak English. All this review tells me is that you watched an episode of I Hate Everything, liked what you saw, and tried to copy paste it in the form of a review that’s so all over the place, I can barely follow it. Not ONE nice thing about this? Do tell me you can do better, cause I’d LOVE to see it.

I know everyone has a right to their own opinion, but THIS…”

What’s really impressive about this is that they were white knighting their friend; the author themselves gave me a very mild response.

Pokeauthors Special Spotlight: A New Low

“Fanfiction is second only to Deviantart when it comes to fragile emotions. I, personally, could take just about any criticism thrown at me and pretend it didn’t exist in the first place, but most people here are just trying to escape their own brutal reality. When they don’t even find support here of all places, things go dark fast. I’ve actually fought to keep a few authors from offing themselves a while back. There was a girl named Thriller Killer who made an incredibly popular Undertale RP, but it got so popular that a group dedicated to shutting her down was made, and on top of the stress of real life, it proved too much from her. I don’t know if she did off herself, but her last message certainly sounded like it. You really don’t know how devastating these things can be.”

Wow. Just… wow.

I do believe this is the first time someone has used an actual suicide victim as a martyr for the Cult of Nice.

Just… wow.

The Other Pokeauthors, Part 49

Had an interesting discussion about the Pokemon Revolution story: “It is a fantasy. It is a satire. It criticizes both sides: the humans call themselves free, but aren’t they constrained by the schedules and laws they impose upon themselves? The pokemon want freedom, but what is freedom when they are ordered to boycott goods and collect water in the pursuit of “freedom”?”

Also, someone finally has a reasonable response to me saying not everyone has to worship Arceus. It’s a miracle!

Pokeauthors Special Spotlight: On Fanon

“The Hall of Origins itself is fanmade and used in just about every story with Arceus in it, and in every story I’ve seen with it, all the Legends were there.”

Ahhh this is cathartic. Now that we’re out of AOOO I finally get to throw down with one of those people who think their ten-steps-removed game of fanon telephone requires no explanation when dropped into fanfic.

And yes, they did just say a canon location is fanmade. Don’t worry, it gets worse!
